Wine and Dine 2015

Todays run was scheduled to be 12.5 miles but I was pretty sure going into it I was going to go 13.1. It started sprinkling at 3.98 miles and was pouring by 4 miles. Around six miles my ear bud fell out of one of my ears. I moved my Ipod to my skirt pocket and popped the ear bud back in to find it barely working so I took it out. Due to being water logged my interval timer started continuously vibrating at mile seven, even after turning it off it vibrated the rest of the run. Around mile 9 the rain stopped and I tried my ear bud and it worked. I think that it had been working all long but I had so much rain in my ear that I couldn't hear it. LOL. The finish was great, I yelled when I hit 13.1 (my first ever!) and finished at my car at 13.22 bawling my eyes out. I have spent the last 13 months getting ready for this and I did it.
Remember that feeling. That is why we do this. :goodvibes

We are putting our 12.5 off till Sunday because we have so much going on tomorrow. I had a discussion with DH about waiting to do the 13.1 distance till the half and he thinks, for my sake, that we should just stick to the plan. This is my first half and I followed the Galloway plan to a T for the Enchanted 10K. That's not for two weeks so I have some time to decide and see how I feel after 12.5.

For those of you thinking of not doing the 14, I understand. Last year I trained to 14 and my husband to 13 and we both did fine. But I will point out I ran 13.48 miles at W and D last year, weaving around people. Just keep that part in mind. I don't weave like this anywhere but Disney. It's not that I am faster. People get caught in the moment, slowing to sight see, etc.

Anyone remember how far in advance they're supposed to send our gift card? (Or has anyone gotten theirs yet?) I'
m hoping I have it early enough I can run by the store in Times Square and add money onto it rather than having a tiny amount card and one of my old ones I've refilled.

Just got done with my first race of the day. Set a PR for 5k! 26:37, beating my previous best of 27:12. I was worried I was not going to do well because of training for the 1/2 and not focusing on being quicker. I even took a couple walk breaks. Now time to relax and get ready for my 4 miler tonight.

I thought it is usually in the gear bag at packet pick up.

You'll get it at packet pick-up I think.

It says on the website that they will mail it three weeks prior to the event so hopefully they will get to all of us!

DH decided to ride his bike with me on my run this morning so I could go all the way to the end of our street and back. I usually do a tiny out and back (like .15 miles!) because our road is busy and there are dogs. I went out and ran where I usually do for the first mile to warm up while he had his coffee and got dressed, etc. So my first mile was 15:09. He met me just as I was finishing the first mile and so we headed off down the road. Our road is super hilly! I knew this from riding my bike on it but OMG! But... my garmin hit mile 2 and I about flipped out - 13:13!! I was seriously ranting to my DH, "that is my fastest mile EVER!". He was like "cool". He doesn't get it, lol. We keep going towards the end of the road, and I hit mile 3 - 13:06! I was so proud of myself!! Then I realize I am at the end of my road, 2 miles from home and my water bottle, lol! Very poor planning! So we keep going and DH offers to leave me and go get my water but I told him I would be okay. Somewhere around there a neighbors dog decided to run with me. He was a very good running buddy, lol. When I got close to home, we had to climb a long hill. I told DH he could go ahead and get my water and bring it to me. When he came back with it I drank a few ounces and ate a couple of pretzels and candy corn. We decided DH would carry my water so I could drink some at every mile. And we decided to NOT do that hill again, lol. I ran down the road and back until I hit mile 9 and DH's calf started hurting. I told him we could go back home and I would finish my 3 miles where I usually run. So here are my times:

Mile 1 - 15:09
Mile 2 - 13:13
Mile 3 - 13:06
Mile 4 - 13:09
Mile 5 - 13:58
Mile 6 - 13:30
Mile 7 - 13:51
Mile 8 - 13:23
Mile 9 - 13:54
Mile 10 -13:58
Mile 11 -14:07
Mile 12 -13:56

My average pace was 13:45. I did SO much better with him pacing me! But my slowest mile (not counting Mile 1 where I was just warming up) was faster than my previous average! Mile 10/11 I took a bathroom break also so I know that affected my time. I at pretzels, candy corn and M&M's at 3, 6, and 9 miles. And my stomach did great!

I am seriously SO excited and proud of myself and I knew you guys would "get it". :)

Thanks! I didn't think I was crazy for remembering they said they were mailing it this year.

Great job! :)

So my next long run is this Monday--14 miles. I was hoping to get in one more long run after that and start the taper two weeks before the W&D, but maybe that's a bad idea and I should start tapering sooner? When are you all starting your tapers? Seems like most of you only have one long run left.
