The Little Things ("Magical"Tips)... Please Share!

Hello Fellow Disney Nerds:

My apologies if this has been hashed before.

A couple of weeks ago someone posted in this forum that Tomorrowland was really beautiful at night on The People Mover. My first thought was, I've never done TPM at night and I am certain to do it now!

I think that tips like these are really the small things that make your Disney Vacation magical.

Just wondering if others have small tips like that to share with me. Please, please do so! After going four years back to back, I haven't been since 2000 and so now I am stupid-giddy over my return and I definitely want to do those small "LITTLE THINGS" to make my trip magical.

This may not even be a tip for many, but my personal small piece of magic is to take a resting cruise on the resort ferryboats outside of The Magic kingdom. Husband and I just passed them by in 1997 and asked could we get on just for the ride. We did so and it was such a lovely and breezy break from all of the walking. The great thing is just how Disney CM's don't turn down reasonable requests. The boats weren't crowded so we just took the cruise.

Would love to get some "MAGICAL" tips for others! Please Share!
@LadyDiznee123... Great idea for a thread!:thanks:

:flower3: Thank you LadyDiznee123 for getting this started!! Loving it!

Thank you Bella -
I'm glad to know others are feeling the same way about these kinds of tips From this thread alone I will now being doing DUMBO at night and I also used my noodle and thought that getting up in the Swiss Family Treehouse might have a nice view as well!

We do something similar at HS. Grab a snack from Sweet Spells and sit at the tables across the street and watch the crowds exit. Another thing we enjoy is browsing through the stores after the parks close for the night. The stores are usually open for an hour after park closing. We like to shop then while the crowds and traffic clear. If you go during Flower and Garden festival, check out the festival center in Future World. It is kind of remote and very few people are back there. It is a nice cool spot to get away from crowds, grab a snack, and see some interesting exhibits. We loved the video of how the imagineers assemble the topiaries. We found it fascinating.

I must admit that when it's near the end of the night and the park is closing I much prefer to get moving out with the rest of the crowd. But between this forum and my ASHLEY AND JOEY / SEE YA REEL SOON vlogs on YouTube - I am certainly going to find a night to hang back (only at MK) and let the crowd thin to shop or do a final ride (I heard the rides keep going until the bitter end), but also go get that LONE pic of yourself with the Castle backdrop - as if you are the only person in the park! Think I'm going to do it!

I was referring to the ferry from the Transportation Center. We usually rent a car so we park at the TTC and take the ferry or monorail over to MK. I much prefer the ferry and have a wonderful memory of standing at the front of the boat with my DD waiting for the castle to come into view for the first time. She was so thrilled when she spotted it. Just not the same as when you arrive by bus or monorail.

Although I considered myself pretty much Disneyworld-wise... I also never knew you could walk or catch a boat from HS to EPCOT and vice versa. This year, going to definitely do the boat to or from HS or EPCOT.

Indeed there is nothing like a boat ride. Just even one nice boat ride can fill you with great magical memories, and at Disney - from the Liberty Belle boat (even though it's on a track) to the Transportation Ferry's - you can have your fill of these for free. Absolutely Love it.

Heading across the water from where? Want to make sure I give that a try so we get to see it! Thank you!!

Really glad this thread is allowing others to find out about those Ferry's. It was really one of the highlights of our old visits from 97 to 2000. And you don't have to be staying at any of those resorts to take a refreshing break on one of them just for the cruise. CM's don't mind at all! Such a beautiful and serene and lovely ride.

We bought glow necklaces for the kids to wear at night. And we brought bubbles to blow while we waited in line. So cute to see all the kids rushing over to pop them! We ALWAYS get the wake up calls!! (Make sure you have your child answer the phone and have your video camera ready to capture the reaction) It's fun in EPCOT to have a CM "sign" your autograph book by writing your child's name in their language (China (we usually buy a fan which they sign), Japan and Morocco). We also love picking our own pearl in Japan, they make quite a production out of it! I don't know if they make them anymore, but back in the day we had personalized name tags made up that looked like the CM name tags and EVERYONE called my girls by name. Nothing like Cinderella addressing your daughter by name! I think they were called Guest of Honor badges. Another fun thing in EPCOT to keep kids from getting bored, we try on and take a picture of the girls in a hat in every country (like the sombrero, fez, viking hat, etc). They like to pose and it's fun to have something to search for in each country (other than penny pressers which my kids love too).

GREAT tips Erin. Thanks so much for sharing! I don't have kids but LOVE the hat idea. Years later they are going to love the pics. For me it's going to be the passports. I never cared to do the Passport thing in the past. But this year I want to buy the EPCOT PASSPORT and have it stamped at every country. I may just even do the hat thing! Great idea! Thanks for sharing! I'm doing it BIG this year for 9 a nine day solo trip. I think that hat idea is going to be something that will indeed be magical as I look back at the pics years from now to remember this magical solo vacation.

You'll have to go and see yourself. :P

I dont know how I missed the KETCHUP tip when I read your post earlier, but I'm DEFINITELY going to do this! The Curiosity is tugging at me, but I don't want to know. I want to see for myself! That and the phones. And I'm wondering if I can just WALK ONTO Tony's and ask them if LADY and TRAMP are in the back today. lol. Thanks for sharing!

Okay.. so far the TIPS I will be doing are:

PEOPLE MOVER AT NIGHT
DUMBO AT NIGHT
Asking for Ketchup at Whispering Canyon Cafe
Picking up the Telephone on Main Street
Character wake up call (yes, I'm still a big kid)
Hanging back late at MK closing
Taking a picture with a hat from every country at Epcot
Deluxe Resort FerryBoat rides (the one tip that I submitted- didnt really have more)
Jungle Boat cruise at night for the closer to R-rated commentary

Hope you guys keep more coming. Thanks so much!

Unless it's changed, if you get all the passport stamps you can go somewhere (I wanna say it was in USA) and you get a certificate or something. This year we are not buying the passport but we're just gonna have the stamps in the autograph book. Make sure you bring a ziploc baggie to keep your passport in just in case it rains. HAVE FUN!

Thank you so much for the tip, Erin!!! (*_*)

Great Ideas everyone-

While you are in Tomorrowland at night hop on the Astro-Orbiter, gives another neat view of the park from a higher point.

I thought they close Tom Sawyer Island earlier in the evening, not sure if you can get there for the fireworks.

The last night of our first trip refusing to accept the trip was over, I ended up taking a late night walk from POP to AofA and was amazed at how nice the decor was and the lighting at night really made it stand out. We will be sure to explore it more on our next trip as well as checking out a couple other resorts.
