Hi!! I'm so excited to share my find with you. At Kohls for $35 i got Phil and Ted's Table Time Clip On High Chair. It looks like it will be super compact and store easily in it's own bag, which will fit in our backpack or under the stroller. Now we don't have to worry about dirty high chairs at Disney or lugging her booster seat around. DD 13 months can sit right by us in her clean little chair.

If the table has a lip to it, it still may work if it can clear it and clamp around it. The only tables that look questionable for us, will be the ballroom at BoG.

Another option is I Clorox wipes, I got the portable packs and just wiped down the highchairs and the table (if the child is eating off of the table).

This is what we did when we took DS at 12 months to Disney. We tried taking a chair cover on his first trip at 7 months, but by the time he was one, we were a lot less concerned.

In addition to that, I would also recommend the plastic disposable placemats, which come in Disney themes, that you can get at most major stores that carry baby items. They stick on the table, and we put DS's food right on it. Then when we are done, we are able to just wrap the mess right up.

I'm a little slow on the uptake, I have these and never even thought to bring them :rotfl2:

And just a note. There was a thread that brought those up in the past and had a few replies where they were not allowed to use them at the restaurants (both in and out of Disney).

That very well may be true. A lot of restaurants do not allow them for liability reasons. They are very dangerous and fall with children in them all the time. I truly hope the OP takes this seriously and returns the high chair and uses one of the solutions presented here.

I'd be shocked if any of the restaurants actually let you use it! They don't want the liability when it doesn't clamp correctly and the baby falls and gets hurt.

Yeah, I would just use some Clorox wipes and our high chair cover. Much safer.

Our little moose would probably snap the table in half.

be prepared to not be allowed to use anywhere but your own house as others have pointed out as restaurants can refuse to allow it to be used

Those clip on things look too scary to me, I would not have trusted on for my child. And I wouldn't want to carry it around. Better to just carry a small ziploc with clorox wipes in it and wipe down a high chair.

I *love* the disposable placemats. It makes taking DD out to eat so very easy!

It may have been easier to carry around one of those his chair covers instead of a clip on high chair.
I agree. The chair cover addresses the concerns about dirty high chairs, giving the child a clean place to sit, but it's a lot more compact than one of those clip on high chairs and a lot safer too!

the clamp if installed correctly and tight would not break loose from my point of view. i didnt know about restaurants not allowing it. hmm.. going to go search

well even though the design of the most dangerous one had the bar across the front, which amputated fingers when it fells, and or others that did not have rubber grips to the flat part of the clamps, and the one i picked out has no bar, and has rubber grips, it's all too concerning, so i'm taking the darn thing back.

why do they make such seemingly good products that are not safe. oh well. we'll lug around the booster seat/tray. we were at disney with my older daughter, who was 2 and we'd walk past the high chairs and Tusker House specifically they looked so cruddy. I never put her in one anywhere. she was able to sit w/o one. However, DD 13 months has to use something. I don't want her around clorox 4-5x a day or those cruddy straps.

thanks for heads up on safety everyone. :)

Thats why people buy them, because from their POV the clamp would not come loose. The problem is, that clamps often do come loose and the baby crashes to the floor. IMO it is not worth the risk. Take a cover and some Clorox wipes if you are worried about cleanliness, they are much easier to pack and carry anyhow.

Ditto everyone else. Clorox wipes and stick-on placemats should be enough, you could bring a chair cover or a blanket/towel to cover the chair if you are really concerned about gross high hairs. Not only would I not want to lug a high chair around with me all day, as PPs have said, you likely won't even be allowed to use it. Another option might be to have your baby eat in the stroller, if it has an attached snack tray.

There's too many variables involved, for me, to use the clamp on high chair. More variables = more likelihood of something going wrong. One thing having DD has taught me is that simpler is usually better.

Depending on where they are eating, this isn't always an option. DD was 8 months on her first trip, and wasn't sitting on her own yet. There were TS places, like Coral Reef, where we weren't allowed to bring her stroller in, and yet she couldn't sit up in the high chair either. I think at CR, she ended up being passed around our laps during the meal.

BOG was accommodating, and allowed us to bring her stroller in for lunch there even though they usually don't, but they only did so because she couldn't sit up on her own yet.

Tony's was another one we couldn't bring her stroller into. She did end up in a high chair that night, with all of our jackets piled around her to help her sit up as best she could. It worked OK, until she found the ceiling fans above her...as soon as she found those, she spent the night laying back watching them ;)

I know the DD's child is sitting up and such so that's not the issue... just sharing our experience with where we were allowed to bring in the stroller and where we weren't.
