As I told you earlier, in the previous update, dinner was at the luxurious Walt Disney World Beach Club tonight, at the historic Cape May Cafe. The story behind this place is an alligator wanted to open a ski resort, for some reason, but idiotically did it in Central Florida. Where it's hot. What was he thinking? So now, it's a restaurant with all-you-can-eat snow crab legs. And other stuff. But who cares? They have all-you-can-eat snow crab legs.
But, of course, we have to get there before we can start crackin' them crab legs. But how, we're not exactly sure. We're taking a cab, but first, must get to the Custom House, 13 kilometers from the rest of the rest.
After checking in the previous Monday, we walked past Centertown from the inconveniently-placed Custom House, so we're not really sure how to get to it. We need to get there, since that's where we can catch a cab to the place with the crab legs.
And, today, we walk too far. WAY too far. We have to double back, since we walked all the way to Martinique. Custom House is behind Barbados. We walked right past it, sort of. So back we go, avoiding this guy on the way:
Not sure how he got there.
We eventually reached the Custom House, where I ask the girl from bell services if she can call a cab for us. She's tells us it's right around the corner. Wow! Kristin called earlier to ask if we could get a cab there, but she didn't actually request anything. But there's one just about here. Nice!
The guy pulls in a second later, and he's a quiet cabbie, which is a shame. I like a talkative cabby.
We reach the Beach Club security gates, and our Magic Bands, which are linked to the ADR, are our key to this kingdom. That's pretty cool
However, this is all a bit odd to me, since we usually approach the Beach Club by sea. It's not the same from the road.
In we go, and we get our pager. Almost immediately, we're buzzed in. This is all happening very seamlessly. It's wonderful.
Also wonderful, as always, is the food. Kristin and I have two completely different strategies. I start with the seafood bisque...
...and move on to a healthy assortment of mussels, clams, pizza (yes, pizza), clam strips, fish, and, of course, snow crab legs. And my personal second-favorite, the cod balls. They're bascially really good breaded fish hunks.
Here is some of that stuff:
Kristin's strategy, on the other hand, is to not waste any time or appetite on almost all of that, opting to go for nothing but snow crab legs. The entire meal. Until dessert.
Not sure what any of this is, besides the grey stuff, which you really should try. It's...really good!
Oh, and that's pistachio cheesecake alongside of it.
While everything at this place is delicious, the crab legs and desserts are the highlights. Whatever your strategy, if you like seafood, this place is fantastic. If you don't like seafood, they have other stuff, including fresh-sliced beef, which I never get. But that looks good, too
Our server was nice, but not really around that often. Which is ok at this place. All in all, it was another great meal in a long string of great meals at the Cape May Cafe, and another in a long string of great meals on this trip.
A few absurd photos...
...and we're done! Back to the Magic Kingdom!
