For Disney, it really is all about the money. Those lights bring in a lot of people for two months or so, but Star Wars is going to bring a lot more people year-round. I'm betting they will find some place to put those up next year but they just haven't figured it out yet. Here's one suggestion, convert BB or TL to a Christmas themed park for a few months before they shut down for their annual maintenance.

The Osborne Family son in law posted to the Dis Boards and stated that the family met with Disney representatives who told them that they were not planning on relocating the lights. An inventory sheet of the display items was presented so the family could specify which ones they wanted back after this year's display was finished.
So no, the lights are completely done after this year...
The thing that I don't get is that Disney has so much land to expand upon. They could easily expand Star Wars Land out past the soon to be defunct Indiana Jones attraction. There is no reason that they have to end this display. Those lights are a huge attraction that brings in the local crowds as well as those visiting WDW from afar. The attraction is even sponsored by Siemans which provides some amount of financial support to operate the attraction.
This is a hugely unfortunate decision that has no real reason for happening. It's just another sign of Disney management sucking every last dime off of the park visitor while giving them less and less.
When this announcement was made on the Official Disney Parks Blog site, within half a day there were over 250 comments indicating that people were not happy with this decision. That's just half a days worth of people who managed to see the post. The post was soon buried under an avalanche of subsequent blog posts. The people that run the Blog were deleting comments suggesting that Disney consider relocating these lights to other places. The main focus of the DPB seems to be to blow sunshine and roses up people's bums and if you are not pretending that everything that Disney does is a FABULOUS idea then your comment or concern eventually disappears off of the comment section. While most people were civil and respectful with their comments on the blog, the Disney Facebook post concerning this decision had to be removed entirely due to the comments that appeared there.
It's pretty sad when it's just another day of Disney taking away from what it offers it's fans and replacing attractions with nothing but empty promises and serious construction delays. It costs something like $100 for an individual to purchase a park ticket... and when it comes to Hollywood Studios it seems that on a regular basis there is less and less for a person to enjoy there. On the same day we found out about the Osborne lights being cut it was revealed on Facebook by a member of the band Mulch, Sweat and Shears that October 10th 2015 would be their last performance.
I really hope Bob Iger is enjoying that 46.5 million dollars he sucks out of our wallets and the wallets of all the hardworking Cast Members every year. With Avatar headed towards a TWO YEAR construction DELAY and no completion date even being speculated on for Toy Story Land and Star Wars Land, Anna and Elsa had better last if they want to keep people paying $100 PLUS to get into DHS... and we all know that lightning like that hardly ever strikes these days.
