Disney's YACHT & BEACH CLUB RESORTS Information & Questions

Question for all you BC experts! Since we were only there for a weekend and only visited/walked to Epcot during that time, we really didn't get to experience transportation to the other parks. How is the bus transportation to the MK? Where do you stop along the way, about how long does it take to get there, and do you feel like buses run consistently and regularly? TIA!
The MK bus stops at YC then BC then goes direct to MK. It takes approx 15 minutes to get there.

The bus to Ak stops at Blizzard Beach.

The DTD bus is the only other bus you have to worry about. So in general I think the bus situation is very good.

I have only stayed at YC, but typically the bus picked us up first then went to BC side with no other stops after. That was the same for both my Dec 12 and Oct 14 stays. I never experienced a water park side trip while at YC the way I did while at GF.

Personally I found the ride to MK long. It felt like it took forever. It seemed like they drove in circles to get there instead of using a more direct route.

Going to parks the buses seemed consistent, but going back from MK it always seemed to take the full 20 mins for one to show up so there was always a huge line by the time it finally arrived. For AK I never felt the drive there or wait to get back was bad. There were nights I was tempted to monorail to Epcot from MK and walk through the park to get to the hotel I was so fed up with the bus situation.

Upgrade!! We booked standard view and got lagoon and pool view for all three rooms! Yahooooo! Everyone is happy. 2 rooms adjoining and our third room is closer to the elevators. Very nice!!!
Enjoy - so great! Just wondering, if you don't mind - did you ask at check in for any upgraded views or did it just happen? We had a good room location with an ok view at the YC last week but we decided when we return next year in August, if the YC rooms aren't refurbed, we will go BC side, as the YC rooms are getting tired at this point. We had a tv on the fritz, a running toilet, some leaking/water on the carpet and loud closet and patio doors. Didn't want to complain as we were happy to have our family all together in a row of rooms/patios. We booked standard and were happy to be upgraded to garden view. :)

We did not ask. We were told we had lagoon view rooms at check-in. While I was hoping for a good location/view, we booked the view we were happy to get. Our MDE showed standard view till after we were checked in. We had 3 standard rooms booked and all three were upgraded.

Congrats on the pixie dust!

When did you realize you were upgraded?

At check-in, we were told we had lagoon view. Our MDE showed standard view till after we checked in. I checked before, while we were waiting for our ride to BC, around 11 and it showed standard, then after check in, we got in one of the rooms right away, around 12, I checked again and it showed the upgrade, on the "my reservations" page. I had been checked several times and there was no way we could have found out till after we got there.

The same thing happened to us. It didn't show that we had been upgraded to lagoon view until some time after we checked in.

We booked garden view and got garden view. I like the decor but am disappointed with the view from the tiny balcony. We are right in the corner so looking to the left we look into the room on the other corner and on the right the wall juts out so you gave to lean out to see the volley ball court.
We are In a nice position for the lobby.

Jesster, there are many different opinions on the bus transportation, not only with the YC/BC, but all other resorts. There are those that have great experiences, those (like Aerinha) that have less than stellar experiences, and then those that can experience it both ways during the same trip. Personally, I just roll with it and enjoy the experience, both good and bad, and believe me, we've had it both ways. It is a 15 - 20 minute ride from the BC to the MK and I have to tell you that in the years we've been at this resort the bus goes to and from using the most direct route possible with no detours or stops along the way. To get to the AK, it does stop at the water park first (depending on the time of year you are staying). The bus getting to DTD is okay but take the cab home (see discussion of this on page one of this thread). Yes, you can monorail it (when it is running) from the TTC to Epcot and then walk through the park (if you have park hoppers or an AP) but it is definitely a longer trip and not something you want to do if you are tired from being at the MK all day. Many do though and plan a stop in Epcot before heading back to the BC/YC.

Sunshine11, there have been many threads on the merits of "asking" or "not asking" about room upgrades during check-in. If you are a reader of these boards, it seems EVERYONE gets an upgrade, so why shouldn't you ask? The attitude some guests of the World take is that if everyone else gets upgraded from a SV to the Presidential Suite, then by golly they are going to get that too or their trip will be ruined and it's all the mouse's fault! Sorry, doesn't work that way. Yes, pixie dust does happen, it is just that people are more apt to report it when it does then when it doesn't. I am a firm believer that you book what you want and if the Magic happens, then that is great (congratulations White Rose and hope SIL comes to appreciate it one of these years). When it doesn't happen (which is my usual personal experience when we stay), then you are still happy to be getting the room you expect and will live with it for the time you are there. That's not to say that if there are issues with the room you don't go back down and discuss it with the manager, but in my humble opinion, asking for a free up-grade is just bad form.
Katesdad.

i'm here at BC now too, after tve fastest trip from MCO ever last night! Got to ME checkin at 9:55pm, on bus at 10pm, left MCO at 10:15, CBR first, Boardwalk second, pulled into BC at 11pm.

Booked garden view, only request was king bed, to maximize chances. Got a fairly good second floor room, king bed, with full balcony, looking onto the trees that (I think) back onto either Canada or the UK. There's what I assume is a sofa bed, plus a bar sink and counter where the fridge is, which has already proven handy as a mug rinse station. Only negative to the room is that the bathroom is TINY! Double sinks inside bathroom, with maybe a foot between the counter and toilet - layout is tub on left, toilet straight ahead, sinks to right. Total br size about 6ft x 6ft tops. Good thing there's only two of us.

No upgrades but a great room overall - and hey, I'm at BC so can't complain... :-)

It sounds like you have one of those odd rooms that has a different configuration than the average room. Very few rooms come with a bar sink. I didn't realize that the BC had any of those rooms. We had a king bed room and it only had one sink, which was a little inconvenient, but the other advantages made it worth it. I hope you enjoy your stay at the BC. If you are facing the UK you might be able to hear the British Invasion concerts from your balcony (or whatever the name of the group is called).

Working on catching up...

Just Realised I didn't give you our dates! 24th Nov to 8th Dec :)

Got it!

:thumbsup2

What does IPO stand for? We're staying CL in a couple weeks and I keep seeing this mentioned. Thanks!

If you get a chance, please confirm your dates. Not a big deal, though. I have you on the BOG list for one set of dates and your signature lists different ones? Change? or Split-stay?

:cool1:

We're pushing back our trip, again. It was just too complicated with separate spring breaks. So our new dates are May 30-June 5... hopefully. ;)

~Cari~ pluto:

I'll revise your dates.

BTW- your parents rock!

:goodvibes:

Guys!! I'm so happy to be able to report that I will be back home (at the Beach Club, of course!) October 12-19! I've convinced my best friend, who has not been to WDW in 5+ years, to join my crazy self on this adventure.

:welcome: back!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:woohoo:

BCV Refurb news (sort of)....just found this online:

"According to a Disney Vacation Club spokesperson, the extensive refurbishment of Disney's Beach Club Villas will not begin until some time in early 2016.

*snip*

Note: There are unconfirmed rumors that BCV is being delayed so that Villas @ Wilderness Lodge can be worked on first.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I will put the info in the first page renovation section of this thread.

:goodvibes:

Checking in from the Traverse my SAB buddies, I should reach la casa de Pas around 9pm tonight. I wanted to give my overall review of Beach Club.

May I put a link to your review in the "Trip Report" section on Page 1 this thread?

Of course! I think it's still on the PTR thread, and I have to start the actual TR. I should do that.... I PM'd the mods before I left. Feel free to post the link and I will try to get my butt in gear and update it ;) Maybe it will calm my obsession over where to stay in December :)

First post on BC threads.....read pretty much every single one of them over the last week on my 'sick sofa' suffering a horrendous cold due to cat scratch fever after a scratch from a gorgeous over hungry (he was pawing for the food and caught my arm before I had a chance to put it down) ferral on a recent holiday to Rhodes.

Fantastic threads with some fabulous chuckle causing posts and you all seem so lovely and helpful. Teena if you fancy anything British next August just give me a shout I'd be happy to bring you over some tasters...I'll have a bag full of English chocolate for the cruise CM's so a few more bits can be managed!

We (me, DH, DS14, & DD6) will be at the Beach Club from 19th to 29th August 2016. GV room and we would like a full balcony as DH & I like to sit out with a drink after the parks whilst the kids nod off to sleep... We were at The poly for our first WDW visit in 2013 (& Siesta Key where we got married) and LOVED it and were upgraded from a standard to a beach room ... Was lovely watching the boats ferry people back whilst we supped our drinks (I used Tikiman for all my poly research..he's fab)

I'd really appreciate advice of room request....we don't want a tree hiding our view or alike and we don't want a non seated balcony and I'm not sure where we'd prefer to be but we will be at parks from rope drop til late (unless we split the day and do a bit of resort time then back to parks will decide when I do my touring plans :) ...can't wait for that but lol! Any suggestions for where I should request nearest to? We have one whole day reserved to be at the resort and will be having the kitchen sink (minus the coffee ice cream so probably the chocolate one) from beaches and cream for lunch

To the other smallies....I'm 4ft 10 and a half

We will be in Florida from around the 14th (awaiting to book flight at 11 months of return date for exact date) and are staying at Universal RPR until Disney as we did one night there in 2013 and need to do more! Then on the 29th (my birthday) we board the Disney Dream on a 4 night Bahamian cruise. When we come back we will have 1 or 2 nights (flight dependant again) in FL and will be visiting Kelly Park in Apopka and Weeki Wachee hopefully!

After next year we really have to save to do our house renovation so will be more than 3 years before we are back so we are really hoping to make the most of 2016...

Phew long thread...I am a chatterbox! Sorrry!

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

:goodvibes:

Great introduction post! (I'm a fellow shortie, 5 feet and 1/4 inch)

For a request, I suggest: "Full balcony please. Courtyard (non-woods) view, if possible"

I think the Garden View category now includes Woods View and it sounds like you want to avoid this. We just had a GV room, near to EPCOT- in fact, we would be able to see EP from our room had it not been obscured by the trees.
