Disney's WILDERNESS LODGE Information & Questions

Kook, I can't really tell from the pictures...what is the exterior work that they're doing? It looks like they're essentially re-siding the entire Lodge. Is that right? If so, is it changing the look of the Lodge, or is it more along the lines of maintenance work?

I guess to me, I would consider the exterior construction to be "minor" in that they're only doing small sections at a time.

I'm sure that Kook will be along to clarify, but my guess is that they are putting new siding on these two corner sections. There is one on each inner corner of the lodge.

DH and I usually are at the parks all day so the construction shouldn't bother us, but I'd really like to be in the North Wing like I had my TA request for me. I'd rather not wake up to scaffolding during my first stay at WL.

Just got a message from Guest Services stating:

We just returned from an absolutely wonderful stay - the stress just melts off my shoulders when I walk through those front doors. Heard absolutely zero construction noise and we were in a north wing inner courtyard view. Yes you see the scaffolding when you drive up but we were not impacted in the slightest. I know change is inevitable but I'm really sad to see these upcoming changes as it truly was a a magical place of absolute peace in this crazy world.

While seeing all of these post regarding construction and scaffolding might make me a bit nervous, we are going to be troopers and stay put.
We are ready to go back to the lodge and treat our lil princess to club level!

If possible can we be added to the list for the dates 9/23-9/29 2015?

Disneyworld, WL, MNSSHP, F&W & HHN here we come!!!!

Hi! New to these boards. Is there a separate VWL thread? Will the villas be affected? We're staying 9/26-10/2.

Thanks for any info!

There is a separate DVC Expansion thread link on the first page I think of this thread. There has been a lot of back and forth about construction but, it appears they are not bringing in the big construction until end of October. There have been reports of scaffolding and some noise ie. Jack hammering, roof work, etc, but it seems dependent on where your room is.

On the DVC boards you can find the VWL thread: http://www.disboards.com/threads/vwl-groupies-lovers-thread-special-collectors’-edition.3242976/

Currently the start date for the work to begin is 10/26 so you should be fine at the time you are traveling. When I asked about anything earlier I was told that some fencing and some staging would most likely start beginning in early Oct.

We are there now. We requested a north room that opens into the lobby and got that exact room - it is 4088...very convenient for just walking up the stairs in the front. The construction has not imported us one bit. You see it as you drive up, and you see it if you look up in the court yard, but I havent heard a thing.

We love it so much here that we originally had a split stay of three nights here and six nights at POR, but I went down and asked if we can just stay here and they changed the reservation and now instead of moving tomorrow, we are staying on another 6 nights!!!

Sorry, haven't read through the whole thread so this may be a repeat BUT...

I got a call from guest services @ Disney yesterday to discuss the impact of the refurbishment on our stay, which will be 12/16-12/21. I called back this AM. The guy told me that I "wouldn't be as impacted as those staying in the villas," but couldn't guarantee us a room as far from the construction as possible. When I expressed concern, he gave me a 4th FASTPASS for EVERY DAY OF OUR TRIP. Don't know if others will be as lucky, but wanted to pass it along!

We called this morning and the construction in December should include:
  • Playgrounds-closed
  • Marina-closed
  • Beach-partially-closed
  • Not main pool-closed
They upgraded us to Polynesian as we wanted to use all facilities... We'll make it there some day, WL!

Its really funny how people are being offered different things, we have been moved to CR. My friend who is going in November has just been moved to the Beach Club. However others for same month have been told that construction won't impact them but we was told it would impact out stay. I don't think they really know what they are doing.

I don't think so either. We're there 12/16-12/21. They said it really shouldn't impact our stay unless we want to use the beach or playground. Then they offered to move us to AKL, but that doesn't work with the plans we've already made. They couldn't put us anywhere else and keep our free dining, so I stuck with WL and the extra FP. I just hope we don't hear construction noise. That's not very "magical," even during the day:)

We had a reservation at WL CL in December. After receiving the letter about construction I called Guest Services. They told us it wouldn't impact our stay. When I expressed concern about all of the closures we weren't offered any alternatives. We decided to switch to the GF.

We requested a north room that opens into the lobby and got that.exact room is 4088
So you are in a standard view room? We have standard view booked for next May, and I would like it to be open to the lobby also. If construction is on the south side at that time, I will be requesting a north room. Were you able to make both of your requests through online check-in, or did you contact WL directly? I am a little worried about lobby noise, especially above WC. Thank you for any advice.

Does anyone have a laundry price list? We are at the lodge for two weeks and I'm really tempted to splash out!!
