As everyone has been finding out, just by doing online check in does not guarantee you can Bypass the Front Desk. If you have done the following:
Completed Online Check In
Be paid in full
Provide a Credit Card
Provide an estimated time of arrival
Provide a U.S. Based Cellular number
you will have one of three Check In scenarios.
1.) Bypass the Front Desk - About 2 weeks out you will receive an email informing you that you can Bypass the Front Desk when you arrive. When you arrive, or sometimes before you even get on your plane at your home airport, you will receive a text. If your room is ready your text will have your room number and a link to your resort's map. If your room is not ready, your text will say so and will also say you will receive another text when it is ready. Either way, you can go directly to a park and your Magic Band will work for park entry, memory maker, any dining entitlements you may have, etc.
2.) Streamlined Check In - Once you complete Online Check In you will receive a Message just like
@TeamSy posted above. When you arrive you will go to the Streamlined Check In Kiosk and hand the CM your ID. If you room is ready the CM will give you your room number and a map. If your room is not ready, you will receive a text with your room number once it is ready. Either way, once you leave the Streamlined Check In Kiosk you can use your MB for park entry, dining, etc.
3.) Online Check In - If you don't receive the Message about Streamlined Check In and don't receive an email about Skip the Front Desk, you will go to the Online Check In Desk when you arrive.
And as
@BobC stated above, nobody can figure out why one person gets to Bypass the Front Desk and the next person gets Streamlined Check In. Our last trip we were traveling with another family. Both on the same exact type of package, both paid in full, both did everything exactly the same and arrived on the same flight. We got to Skip the Front Desk and they had to go to the Streamlined Check In kiosk. Both of our rooms were ready and there was nothing out of the ordinary. So who knows.
