So I have a site booked for a Saturday. My understanding is that we get parking for both Saturday and Sunday - is that correct? Also, how early could be go and get the parking pass? When I priced it out the magic bands at $13 each plus 2 days of parking plus the benefit of FP+ window definitely made it worth the cost. I don't intend to cancel for those reasons but I do want to confirm my thinking above. Thanks!

You don't need a parking pass. Complete online check-in for the earliest arrival time and you will have your MagicBand scanned at the parking lot tollbooth. If you aren't actually using your onsite accommodation, there is no need for you to go to the resort.

I apologize if this has been discussed but I just want to confirm how this works. I'm going in January 2016. Let's say my first day in the parks will Wednesday January 20th. I book the campgrounds for my family of 5 sometime in the next few months for the night of 1/20 for about $58. Then I buy 5 tickets to the parks separately (I can get them from a third party that's significantly less than other sellers) and add them to my account and reservation. Those will probably be 6 day park hopper tickets. Disney then sends me the 5 Magic bands and I can make FastPass+ reservations beginning about 11/21/2015.

So I have a few questions. Given I have a one night reservation at the campgrounds and a 6 day park hopper ticket, for how many days will I be able to reserve fastpasses beginning on 11/21/2015? I ask this because I also plan to go to Universal for 2-3 days during this time. I'm wondering if the fast passes can only be reserved for 6 days even though I'll probably be in the Disney parks as late as 1/28.

Second, do I just check into the campgrounds online early on the morning of 1/20 and then I have free parking for 1/20 and 1/21?

Lastly, I'm considering doing the same but using the WDW Dolphin Resort as I can use SPG points there. Do I get the same benefits there with the fast pass+ and the free parking?

I'll let the other experts answer your direct questions, but I wanted to throw in one more point that you do not raise: you should make your campground reservation for 10 people, not five. It costs the same and Disney will send you 10 MBs. Link your tickets to five MBs, and use the other set of five at kiosks for SDFP.

Thanks for the advice. I just started my planning for my January trip and still need a lot to learn about fastpass+. Last time I went to Disney was January 2012 so I didn't have to deal with the new fast pass system.

I assume there's an advantage in using different magic bands to getting same day fast passes over the magic bands used to reserve the fast passes in advance. I'll read up and try and figure it out.

The bands used to get advance FPs are only eligible to get one more at a time after the three advance FPs have been used or expired. After using the fourth one you can get a fifth, then after using that a sixth if there is still time and availability.

Using spare bands means you can get three SDFP the first time you go to the kiosk. You can get the additional FPs in the same manner after those three are gone. In addition to getting three FPs for one visit to the kiosk, the other big advantage is that you can grab those three first thing in the morning. If you have to wait until after lunch for your advance FPs to expire, there might not be good availability for a fourth one (except at MK).

Wow! I didn't know about the extra bands!:lovestruc I will change my ressie to eight instead of the 4. Yay! Love the Dis!!pixiedust:

You will not be able to reserve all days at once. You can reserve your first and second day at 60 days out from your first day. After that, the FP window will open up on a rolling basis - 60 days out from each day. I don't think your days have to be sequential, so if you have 6 day tix, I *think* they can be whenever after your check in day. You will only be able to book 6 days of FPs total though.

I did online check in ahead of time, and never went to the campground. But yes, I had free parking for check in and check out day.

I don't know anything about perks at the Dolphin.

Swan/Dolphin get free parking at the parks, but have their own resort parking fees. You do get 60-day FP+, but you do not get MagicBands.

I have a question that relates to this topic but is not quite the same situation. We have a package booked for 4 for 5 nts with 2 day PH passes and my Dss will be joining us for 1 nt/ 2 days from college as a day guest so is not on reservation. I have his ticket purchased and linked to My Disney Experience app, but since he is not in the room will how can I book FP+ for him 60 days out? We do have to add a 1 nt room only to the beginning since our current package/offer w/ FD is not available to add a nt but we now fly in the nt before. He will not be coming that early but could I book the 1 nt room only package with his name on the ressie and link ticket to that ressie to get the FP? Then would I book his FP+ for 60 days out from arrival day of 1 nt stay and then the other 4 of us with the package that stArts a day later would have to wait one day to book our FP+ 60 days out from the day our package starts? We would not throw away room but if we do a Value the 1st nt we can only put 4 names on the ressie so how could I get this to work? Can we link both ressies together?

Anyone linked-in as part of your MDE account can be included in making your 60-days-out FP+ reservations.

Hi Everyone

I have tried reading all the responses and need help for our situation. Wife and I are FL resident annual pass holders with the free parking and booked a last minute stay to All Star Movies for next weekend, which we are actually staying in due to great rate. I already reserved our 3 FP+ for our 3 days at the World. My goal is just to obtain the 3 extra FP+'s for each of us per day for the trip. We are going to park hop, so should I do it at the second park we go to each day at the kiosk so we have at least something to work with at the new park? I just got an email from Disney stating our Magic Bands will be available at our hotel for pick up. Do I simply sign up with another MDE email and link those new bands to that email and go to the kiosk and get three more passes per day. Also, how would I customize the colors of the soon to be picked up magic bands? Thanks for your help.

If your upcoming All Star stay is booked on your current MDE account, and your APs are also linked to that same MDE account, the new MBs will already be linked to that same MDE account.
If that's the case, you cannot get 3 extra same-day FP using the MBs and the APs.

If the above is the case, you can only book the 3 advanced FP+ per day, and then must wait until after those are used (or cancelled, or expired) before you can book any more same-day FP+.

OTOH, if the APs are NOT linked to the same account as your current upcoming All Star stay, you can book 3 additional same-day FP+ anytime on the days that you are in the parks, using your MB for one set of 3, and your stand-alone AP for the other 3.

Thanks Robo. Since we go frequently, what can I do in the future to get extra FP's? Do I still need to book a throw away room and do that process? What is the easiest way to get the 3 extra FP's per day per person? Sorry if it has been mentioned here before, but trying to catch up. Are these Magic bands I am getting next weekend good for anything in the future or just paper weights? Appreciate it.

All you need to do is buy a new set of MBs and do NOT link them to your current MDE account.
Create a separate MDE account (different names and address) and link the stand-alone MBs to that new account.

In the park, you can then go to any kiosk and make 3 same-day FP+ with just those separate MBs.

And, hey, rickdog, you joined the DiSboards nearly 5 years ago and are just now posting!!
:welcome:

Thanks for the response. Not worth the $25 even, since we have a toddler and take advantage of the baby swap options that are well known to get he fastpasses to use without our toddler for later times. And yes, this is the first time posting, but I am a frequent reader, and everything has made sense until I stumbled upon this thread.

I booked a campsite which we have no intention of using. Used that reservation to book FP+. August 27th will be exactly 30 days before the trip. If I cancel the reservation on any date past that, will Disney also cancel my FP+s? Should I wait until I get my MBs to cancel? I'm planning to call and tell them I'm staying elsewhere offsite and please not to cancel our FP+. Since it will be less than 30 days until the trip and offsite guests can book at 30 days, I'm thinking we should be ok.

Just remember that since you are users of APs and the "extra" MBs will last, well, FOREVER (for the purposes of same-day FP+,)
your "investment" could amortize out to a pretty low amount after multiple trips over the next few years.

Just a thought.
