VWL construction-what would you do

I got a call from MS advising that WL will be undergoing major renovations while wea are there in November. Sounds like a total tear out and rebuild of the pool next to the dvc building. I'm thinking jackhammers to break it up! Worst case we are overlooking a jackhammer site that's making noise from 9am to 7pm. Best case is we are overlooking the parking lot and barely hear it.

The only other 2br available during our stay is SSR, which is a bus ride to anywhere and not much theming compared to VWL. I already put in a wait list for BLT, but I doubt it will come in.

What would you do - hope for a good room and no problem at VWL, or move to SSR, where transportation to MK will be a much bigger deal? We are traveling with a 6 and 9 yo.

Btw- the Mouse owes us nothing! They already provided what I consider fair compensation for the noise or hassle.

We will also be there in November and have decided to stay. We will be park bound through most of the construction hours and I think ( hope) we will be ok working around the noise and we will be requesting a room in a quiet area as well. My kids do prefer the main pool so not having the quiet pool won't be an issue either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will work out well. We also have been compensated for our inconvenience.

hey in that case would stay. getting to the Mk seems to be a priority - so hope it works well for both of you.

What would I do...exactly what you have planned. Stay at VWL and probably request "bus stop" side room. Enjoy! :)

What was your compensation? We talked to them and they didn't offer anything.

Disney doesn't go through the cost and effort of moving guests and offering compensation unless the construction work is really going to be objectionable.

Their written notices state that construction will be limited between the hours of 9 - 5 M-F and 10 - 5 Sat & Sun. We know from experience at other resorts that the hours are not always followed.

I agree with disneynutz. We received notification that our BCV vacation might be disrupted by scheduled renovations there. We wait listed BWV and happily got it. So my suggestion would be to wait list BLT. Still close to MK and if you get it fine, if not, then no loss and you still have VWL.

I think I would stay at SSR. I think the disruption is going to impact you more than what others are saying.

I, too, would stay at SSR. Yes, the theming is less immersive and distance to Magic Kingdom is greater, but all current notices and rumors suggest significant construction. After our PVB experience in May, I would avoid major construction at all costs.

I have been negotiating with them. First offer was move to Kidani (no) or 15% reduction in points. Speak to a manager and not the CM who was hired in the last 6 months and just keeps reading the script that says these changes are being done"to improve your experience." (My current experience is not too pleasant.) And no,you are not doing this to improve my experience, you are doing this to improve Disney's bottom line.

When they called, I asked if there was another MK are resort they could move us to, but there was no availability. They offered to give us length of stay park hoppers for everyone in our party, which I accepted.

I put in wait list for BLT, but I don't have high hopes that it will come through. 2 br in a November is a long shot

Thank you for the confirmation of the impact of construction work.
