2016 Trip Check in

We are planning a trip for Presidents week 2016 and can't wait. We were last to California in 2011. My cousin lives in SF and my husbands uncle will be in San Diego for one more year before moving. We are flying from NY so it is a big trip.

We are tentatively planning on flying to SD on Thursday and doing a beach and the wild animal park. Sunday-Tuesday we will go to Disney and are tentatively booked at dessert inn and suites. Wednesday we will do Hollywood etc (possibly LaBrea tar pits also but I am not sure about drive times). Thursday we will drive up rte1. We would like to stop and see redwoods somewhere. Friday and Saturday will be in SF doing the average tourist thing and the Walt Disney family museum. Sunday we will fly home.

Now to work out details. Can we say I plan ahead a little? The first thing is for Southwest to post their schedule.

My biggest disappointment is that I really wanted to do Fantasmic and WOC packages but both my kids will be considered adults. I am not paying adult rates for them since there is nothing they would eat on the menus. Can you pay adult rates but order from the kids menu? Since when is 11 an adult when it comes to dining.

Just booked our Easter trip for March 17 - 28th, staying at BWPPI again. It will be DD (13) and myself - DD wants to meet the Easter bunnies! Still debating about the summer trip to DL and WDW - wondering if we should push those dates back and go camping/sailing instead.

I'm sorry to say that 11 yr old boys like my son probably tipped the scales to make it be an "adult" price:) He eats more than anyone and skinner than all!!! Go figure: I agree with you: but at least you can get fast passes to both; sounds like an amazing trip!! Planning for me is almost as fun as going!!:flower::car:

Lesser well known than Muir Woods and maybe more out of the way is Armstrong Redwoods near Guerneville . We love that place! It has free parking outside the park or you can pay and go park by a table. It has lots of flat wide paths among the trees that make it wonderful for small children. And has special trees marked with signs. I've been going there since I was little and we just went again for a picnic last month. Just beautiful.

With my boys I had the opposite problem eating out. They didn't eat much, but they were not happy with choices of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese on the children's menu. They wanted the adult food like salmon and vegetables, etc. but we didn't want to pay that much for them when they wouldn't finish. Sometimes we let them split an adult meal.

The Disney Family Museum is really nice. Glad you are stopping to see it.

Thanks for the suggestion of Armstrong Redwoods. It sounds really nice but since we are already driving all the way from San Diego I think it is too far. I wish it was further south.

I know all kids are different. I guess my main wish would be a little more flexibility at sit down Disney restaurants. We will probably still do the dinner package but ask for modifications as part of my children's issue is allergies.

We are planning on a combo land/sea Disney trip in June 2016. Have our cruise booked on the Dream for June 20th. Really signed on looking for a Fish Extender group. This is our first Disney cruise and I'm really excited about participating in the fish extender activity, but have no clue how to join a group. Any advice anyone?

Not sure if we'll stay at the WDW before or after the cruise, but thinking about renting some DVC points to stay at Animal Kingdom. We are a family of 5 and no one is that little. My youngest will be 10 and all 3 are boys so if we do the DDP looks like I'll be forking out the funds for 5 adults, but honestly my guys eat like adults, lol.

The whole trip is for my 50th, which is actually in May, but my hubby and I are both teachers so we kind of have to wait until the summer.

I wish I could help: but your trip sounds wonderful. I have not been on a cruise yet: and I hear you on the boys eating like adults; that is my son as well. A co-worker stated she did the same food plan; she liked the "sit down" style of meals because it gave her/family time to rest and recharge for the next adventure.

Ok I know there's got to be some major disney fans like me already scoping these boards in excitement for their 2016 trip so I figured let's start a 2016 thread! Post the dates you are going and when you are staying and I'll update! If it's still in planning just shoot an estimate tbd date or location and I can always update it later!

February 21-25 - Hotel TBD :)

Can't wait our trip is in December 2016: staying at the Disneyland Hotel with our DD, DS, DH and DG. Will be there for 7days: there has been a few of us 16'ers out there and I'm sure all are very excited with planning, dreaming and planning some more!:rainbow:

We are going hopefully around the middle of June Im thinking around maybe the 19th-30th We drive from MO so we stay a while and do beaches and other stuff, We stayed at Park Vue Inn last visit LOVED it so that is my top choice right now but I am also looking into the new Homewood Suites because for as long as we are staying the price is great!! Even with the $16 parking its still cheaper so we will have to see!! I did book Homewood just in case since they have no dep and free cancellation!!

Woo hoo 2016! I've got 2 DL trips going, both for runDisney events. Jan 13-Jan 22 for the Star Wars Rebel Challenge, split stay at DLR and Hotel Indigo. And then May 4-May13 for the Pixie Dust Challenge at Tink weekend, split stay at PPH and Hotel Indigo. I'm excited!

Thank you!

Thank you! We were planning on going this past February but finances and life got in the way. :( I've been to WDW once, when I was about 12 (so, 20-ish years ago), but no one else in my family has ever gone to either! I'm so excited to see the looks on their faces when we walk into the park for the first time. :earsgirl::earsboy:
You will be addicted!! We went a few Christmas' ago for our once in a lifetime trip to DL none of us had ever been to WDW or DL (still haven't been to WDW even though its closer) and we are working on our 3rd trip next summer!! Its so awesome!! And we are from MO so we LOVE California!!

Hi :wave2:

We are planning a trip for June 2016. Right now the plan is to stay at the Park Vue, but I'm not writing off a stay onsite (if we do, it will probably be Disneyland Hotel).

We don't have exact dates yet.
When the time creeps closer I will probably have a million questions...I'm a WDW veteran, and I can plan a trip there in my sleep, but my entire family will be first timers at Disneyland.
I'm really looking forward to seeing where all the magic began pixiedust:
We are planning June also!! Park Vue is awesome and we are also considering staying there again but I am really considering Homewood Suites also the new one will be opened and it has better prices for the length of our stay it is further away though so Im not quiet sure how I feel about that yet :)

Just booked us (husband & I) at PPH with the spring Dapper Days rate for May 1st through 5th, although we will probably be in Southern CA for a couple of days before that.

Most likely there won't be any Disneyland time before 5/1, but as I'll have an AP I might have the husband drop me off for a few hours while he goes & does his own, non-Disney thing. He has a few things he wants to do by himself, so maybe I can talk him into doing them on Friday 4/29 while I visit the park before the full force of Dapper Days weekend stuff hits...? :goodvibes

Unless something changes (i.e. if our car sells) I think we're going with Getawaytoday for our tickets and hotel, probably after the first of the year. We looked at the site and was really impressed by what they have to offer

Thanks Jane! We tried to catch a Ducks game back in 2012, but because of the lockout...We're looking at going to StubHub for the Kings tickets. They always seem to have tickets available for games. Are you doing the Caribbean cruise? We're doing that one and can't wait.
We used Getawaytoday our first trip and I have been looking a little into this one they don't have ALL the hotels though, for instance Park Vue Inn isn't on their list but you can still also get tickets there
