What do you think of Kona Cafe breakfast?

We have decided to book a breakfast at Kona Café in September. The menu looks yummy and it fits in nicely with our plans since you can take the monorail. I would love to hear some real opinions from people who have eaten here. I have heard many people talk about the tonga toast, so that seems to be a favorite. Is everything else good, service? Thanks

We love having breakfast at Kona! My favorite there are their blueberry pancakes; SO fabulous! And, their Kona press pot coffee is out of this world if you're a coffee drinker! ☕

We stay at Bay Lake/Contemporary and prefer Kona to Wave.

Kona is certainly worth trying, but I would not go out of my way (which does not seem to be the case for you).

Tonga Toast is the perennial favorite on DisBoards - my kid enjoys it, but I found it to be just OK. I tend to avoid sweet breakfasts and find the steak'n'eggs to be a fair value, but the Samoan with eggs over pulled pork hash to be even better. Also, the mixed juice with Orange, Passion Fruit, and Guava is yummy; French press coffee is a winner too.

We really enjoy Kona Breakfast. Several good, unique selections on the menu. Some folks (us included) find the Tonga Toast to be way too sweet, but the macadamia nut pancakes get nearly universal approval. You can of course get regular breakfast items as well.

There was a comment up-thread about the Wave at the Contemporary. We've done that several times and its a really good buffet breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend that either.

I actually have no interest in the tonga toast. I don't like overly sweet breakfast. I really want to try the samoan and the pancakes with macadamia butter. Sounds really yummy.

I'm with the previous poster (and probably the minority) that while Kona is definitely a yummy and satisfying breakfast I don't think it's worth making a special trip out of your way to the Poly. I had the Tonga Toast, and DH had the regular pancakes (2 pancakes that took up an entire dinner plate, which he couldn't finish) and while it was a delicious meal it's not a destination restaurant for us. If it fits in with your plans, great!

It's probably my favorite non-buffet breakfast on property, so if I'm heading to MK that day, have a non-park day schedule or otherwise staying on the monorail loop, then it's worth going over there to me. As noted, the coffee is the best on property...hard to believe one coffee is that much better than another, but it is the case here. I also feel like it has several very unique items for those who want something slightly off the radar, but if you're a regular breakfast food fan, there is a breakfast platter that is also quite nice (and still includes the pineapple-macadamia nut pancakes for a little "theming").

...and I can eat an order of Tonga Toast and beg for more.

It is our favorite breakfast on property.we make sure to go once a trip. DD loves the tonga toast, I want the macadamia pancakes and DH & DS like the platter. Brought DN & her husband this last trip and it was a winner for them also!

We felt that Kona was a nice change from the counter service or buffet options out there. Like pps would only go if you take the monorail or bus. We drove in May and parking was awful!

We always do a breakfast at Kona - it is my favorite. Their macadamia pancakes with pineapple sauce make me so happy I make it at home a few times a year also. We are staying at the Poly this trip for the first time, so we will be doing it twice! ;)

We love it. Awesome regular breakfast, but the tonga toast is the winner for me while the girlfriend likes the mac.nut-pineapple pancakes

Love Love Love it!! We go every trip (breakfast and dinner). Love Tonga Toast & the french press, also the pineapple macadamia pancakes are AWESOME! I think my husband always goes with the Big Kahuna also. We've been many times and have never been disappointed! :-)

Macadamia nut pancakes are great.
My boys loved the other breakfast offerings and they are big eaters.

My boyfriend will usually order a "sweet" breakfast option (pancakes, waffles, etc.) and he is IN LOVE with the Tonga Toast. It is honestly the thing from our trip that he has talked about the most. I got the Samoan which was amazing as well and the coffee was just perfect. I would definitely recommend it.

In case you can't tell from all the love, you've made a great choice. I'm not a big fan of sweets in the morning, so I love the Samoan which is their version of an eggs Benedict but on a pulled pork hash. It is divine
