Cinderella Castle Blanket

Something inside of me thought it would be fun to crochet a blanket of Cinderella Castle, so this will be a progress report!

I started out by finding a photo of the castle that I liked (finding a photo with no people and is centered is a lot harder than it should be), turning it into an 8-bit style image in photoshop, and then converting it to a graph.

I've made pieces like this before, so I know I'm not biting off more than I can chew technique wise, but this is definitely going to be the most complicated piece I've ever done. Everything in the past was limited to 2 or 3 colors and a simple design, not 7 colors and an actual image.

Currently it is as wide as my full-sized bed.

Day 2 -

Spent about an hour on 4 rows, so hopefully I grossly overestimated the total time it will take to complete. I am now into 3 (of 7) colors per row.

Total time spent: 3.5 hours

Wow!! This is going to be incredible!!! I wish I had the patience to crochet like that. I just can't do it. Right now my patience will only let me do granny squares/stripes etc :) I have done a disney blanket before though. Each square was a different character. I think that one was what ruined my patience!! I am not a creater---I am a pattern followerer :) Good luck and keep posting pictures!!

Thanks!!

I definitely understand the patience part - if I'm not in the mood it is not going to get done. I have a sweater I started 6 months ago that has been sitting in my closet half done for 5 months haha.

I will be sure to keep posting updates!

Gasp! Oh my goodness this is going to be fantastic! I just joined disboards today to help me find some answers to a few questions I have about our upcoming trip, but I had no idea there was an Arts and Craft forum. How fun that you are posting your progress!! Looking forward to your updates.

Great job!!! It's looking good! Can't wait to see photos as you continue on and then of course the finished project.

Thanks everyone! I'm so excited to see how it is turning out

Day 3 -

5 more rows done today. The heat here in Florida is too much for me so I will be spending more time inside where it's air conditioned, so my pace will definitely pick up over the weekends.

I am almost done with the ground and will be starting the actual castle in the next few rows!

Total time spent: 5 hours

12/227 rows complete

Day 4 -

It is definitely starting to get complicated with the color changes, but I am finally to the stage!

Total time spent: 7.5 hours

Day 5 -

No photo today. Things have been pretty busy this week so not much time to work on this. But I did get a row in today, so there's progress!

Any little bit done is progress!

That is going to look awesome. My mom and MIL do this and they are teaching one of my girls. It takes so long but will look good.

It's not haha.
This past weekend was spent at the parks watching all the 4th fireworks shows, so I've been pretty tired this week after work. I'm hoping to pull it out again tonight though!

What size hook are you using?

My issue is that since I've moved to FL, I feel like I'm constantly on vacation haha. Having the parks so close by means I am pretty much always tired from popping in for a few hours.

I am using an I for this one. Since I carry strands underneath the stitches for short changes, I went with the slightly larger (than my usual H) size
