Disney's CONTEMPORARY RESORT Information & Questions

My husband has asked to stay at the Contemporary in the tower for his 40th birthday in January. We'd probably be there Jan. 11 to Jan. 15, 2016. I know he'd prefer club level and I'd like to surprise him with a TPV.
Should I just book now? Or is it possible that there may be a discount released in the future that could apply to a club level tower room with TPV? Is it better to wait? I have to admit it is really difficult to not just book so I can tell myself that I have a Disney World trip booked! :-)

I agree with the pp's that if you will stay TPV CL with or without a discount, I'd book now to make sure you get what you want :).

I'm now officially booked for the Contemporary Resort for spring of 2016.

Congrats on booking for next year, enjoy the planning :wizard:.

Just checked into our lake view 1BR at BLT. Boo yah!

Hope you're having a great time :goodvibes.

Yup, north side! It was what I requested, though I would've been perfectly happy with the south side as well for that Contemporary view. I did want an even number room for sure though, since the one time we were here before we had an odd number room. Here is our straight ahead view. Very peaceful. There's also the tennis courts and plenty of parking lot hidden in that other pic I posted. ;)

Very peaceful view :cloud9:.

So I listened to the wise responses to my question you all provided and we are now officially booked for January 2016! I can't wait to surprise my husband!

Just switched from WL to Contemporary Garden Wing for 12/11/15 - 12/19/15. We have done BLT Studio, any pointers for CR GW would be greatly appreciated. Starting to think we should be on that resort changers thread...ha ha ha. We didn't really want to change but a little scared to chance it with the DVC expansion coming. We loved BLT and figure CR GW will just be something we have not done yet.
We really like GW. You'll be right next to the pool and beach (maybe not as important in Dec.). It's a short walk to the tower building and all of the dining, shopping, and transportation. The rooms are very nice at a much lower rate than the tower rooms. I think you'll be happy with the choice!

It's an xx04 room. I'd rather not give the exact room until we check out. :)

Believe DH and I have had this view too and LOVED it ! Have a great time and please ride Soarin for me!:yay:

We love BLT!! Stayed there twice on pts. through DVC, for 2 weeks each. I never thought I would like the modern feel of the place, but love the amenities and everything that goes with it, plus walking to MK a big plus

We've stayed South Outer villa, but never North Outer villa and your view is even more relaxing. To the north/west of your photo is the entrance to the dry dock for the ferry/boats. It's also where the "Nautilus" subs used to be stored back when 20,000 Leagues was dismantled, but I believe they have since been moved.

Hi Kook,
Can you add us to he Log-orail? We will be at CR January 7-12, 2016!!

I'd be happy to add you:)

We are planning a trip for September of 2016 and hope to stay at the CR.

Let us know when it's official and welcome to the thread.

Two weeks sounds dreamy.

Hey guys!
My husband and I are looking at booking during Princess Half Marathon. It will be my first runDisney race and since we will not be bringing our 3 kids along with us (aren't we horrible :upsidedow) we would thought we would make it a nice getaway by booking a CR TPV Tower room. I am just worried about noise level of the MK fireworks and people at Chef Mickey's, especially because I will have to get up 3 mornings in a row by 2:30 am so I will be going to bed early hopefully. How is the noise level in the rooms?

We're booked garden view in the garden wing 12/12-12/20, can't wait to walk to MK! Now just hoping for a room discount to possibly upgrade to TPV :cloud9:

We stayed at CR CL for our first PHM and heard only the boom of the fireworks and no chef mickey. I honestly was so jazzed up I slept very little but still finished the race ! We requested very end of the hallway so we wouldn't hear the other guests in the hallway.

Cool! Can I be added to the Log-orail? We are staying at the contemporary 11/12 - 11/18, celebrating a 10 year anniversary and our son's 7th birthday (and life in general ;) )

Decided to change my stay into a split stay. So now we are now staying at the Contempo (garden wing)from 8/24-8/27 then switching to the Poly for two nights! I am beyond excited to get the chance to stay at my two dream resorts during one trip!

So we've been enjoying BLT so much I haven't been posting. Belated happy Fourth! This was from yesterday.

We watched the Fourth of July fireworks last night from California Grill. It was raining outside, so we watched from inside the restaurant. The music kept going out inside and people said out on the deck as well. Still a great visual show and at one point everyone in the restaurant just sang along to finish the song to the fireworks. Good group moment.

While on the topic of California Grill, we ate in four sigs (Yachtsman's, Narcoossee's, Citricos, and CG) for dinner, and we would rank it lowest of the four (we'd rank in the order listed.). But having said that, we still enjoyed the meal. We wouldn't go out of our way to go, but if we have a stay on the monorail again in the future, we would go to CG again. The Tuna Four Ways may have been my favorite app of the whole trip.

Perspective is tough, it was a HUGE portion. My wife's dessert was fun, it was a strawberry shortcake stuffed donut with a blended strawberry drink that tasted like the 1900 cold strawberry soup (in a good way).

Yeah, it would be cool to see the Nautilus! But not in view this trip. We did see the WL boats come out from the corner in the mornings. :)

That's so beautiful! We've got a 1BR Lake View booked for our very first WDW visit in February and I can't wait! May I ask why you prefer an even number room? Just to be different than your first stay, or is there something you prefer about about them? I have no idea what I should request for our stay!

The odd number rooms are on the inner side of the ring. They have a pool view, but also a view of the other rooms. I think there is a big lack of privacy in those rooms. Also the living room is slightly smaller in the odd number rooms and instead they have a laundry "room", good for extra closet space and luggage storage. (Instead of the laundry closet that only fits the washer and dryer exactly in size.).

I think the even number rooms have better views, and I think this north side high floor view was perfect. It also was really private, I think even many of the real MK view rooms are bad in that you can see right in them from the sky bridge. The weather this week was crazy, with crazy thunderstorms, and being able to see the fireworks from our room was amazing. (Remember, music on channel 105!)
