July 2015 Car Rental Code Watch...hoping there is not already one!

4 day rental over July 4th weekend (7/3-7/6) out of TPA on Alamo using Orlando Magic card code 7016220 and free 1 class upgrade AU5224JAB for a standard size $113. I'd really prefer a small suv but not willing to pay double for that!

Got this down by a few dollars to $97.72 by removing my SW RR info. Didn't realize Alamo charges $1.50/day to add frequent traveler info for SW.

Alamo charges a Frequent Traveler Service Charge of up to $.75 per day (except related to Southwest where the charge is up to $1.50 per day) for qualifying rentals in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. This Service Charge is collected by Alamo in order to offset a portion of the administrative and program costs arising from our participation in these frequent traveler partner programs and/or the Excise Tax charged by the Federal Government related to such programs...

Tried to name my own price through Priceline but my bid for anything under what I already have reserved (has to be under $20 a day to be worth bidding) was denied.

Try a day or two before you need the car. If they have any un-rented vehicles left, they ma be more receptive to some lower bids.

Tried bidding $41 per day for minivan..and it was declined:guilty:
The problem is there are NO minivans available for love or money at the companies that Priceline uses. If you have 2 drivers, it's time to rethink the two car solution.

...

Alamo prices just dropped for my dates. Using my Insiders rate plus the free upgrade coupon got this rate down to $74.17. Taxes are now greater than cost of the car. Upgrade from mid to standard - from 7/3 - 7/6 (4 full days) - total cost $74.17.

Note this is out of TPA, not MCO.

Wow! You got a fantastic deal! We are hoping to get something in MCO for 7/23-7/29 and the cheapest I can find is $267 for a compact through Undercover Tourist. Ugh! I know you're out of TPA but where did you originally book? And did you pay for the Orlando Magic card?

I just booked a car through Firefly out of TPA for $92 per week plus $13.14 per day for a total of $162.20 for 8 days (Jul 11 - Jul 19). I've read mixed reviews about Firefly. We probably are not going to keep this reservation because my DH has tons of free car rentals but it's nice to have a reservation in my back pocket.

My latest booking is down to $74.17 using Alamo website and my Insiders id (free to join) plus the previously mentioned free upgrade coupon code. I could knock another couple of dollars off that by pre-paying but I'm gong to be greedy and let it ride a few more days, lol. If that doesn't lower your rate, try booking via the Southwest airlines site - they have some decent partner deals available through July. I found the link to those deals via the Chase Ultimate Rewards website.

Hertz has minivans today. They are expensive but they exist.

ETA: I see you're at AoA for most of your trip. I would just take ME and then UberXL or Taxi if you need to go somewhere else.

Just checked for my dates starting next week and got a car from Dollar for $199.34, I was previously at $213 with Alamo so I snagged it. Have always had under $200 as a goal so this makes me happy!

On the AAA website, Dollar and Thrifty had a "Lock Low and Go" rate of $225 (tax included) for the eight days I am in Orlando. The rate is for a compact or larger vehicle. They pick the vehicle when you pick it up.

Best rate I have for my dates recently but I am keeping my Premium from Alamo at $260 for now.

Rates are down for Dollar right now. Full size from 07/17-07/25 $220 tax included.

As soon as you posted this I checked for my dates and they were crazy cheap! Walked away for a moment, put my dates back in and the rates were high again. Grrrrrrrrr
