Can you hear the automated PA message? Please stand clear of the door...

That would be awesome

That would be awesome and yes, you would be able to hear it from certain rooms but only from your balcony, I would imagine. I don't remember noticing it but it has been a long time.

It's a standard (garden) view room. The only sign of construction here is the scrim in front of Tangaroa Terrace (?). We did see scaffolding on the marina end of Tuvalu and there are some cherry pickers behind Samoa. Other than that the resort looks GREAT.

Pics are looking left, straight then right.

Lovely photos. Thank you for sharing them.
I'm confused - I thought Moorea was a DVC building? Are you in a standard room with a standard view? Or are you in a std view studio?
Is the pathway to TTC reopened? Or is it still rerouted through parking lot? We walked this last year after breakfast at Kona and it was NOT pleasant.

Have a great time!

Our reservations got messed up -- we had 2 linked reservations and they put us in different buildings. Moorea was only longhouse available with adjoining rooms so they put us there -- a free upgrade I suppose. It is a standard view studio. Very nice.

Pathway to TTC is open. Super convenient from Moorea.

Have a great time!

Thanks!

Tokelau was looking pretty much done when we left on the 21st but I'm sure they are still working on a punch list. They were really moving fast, probably trying to have everything ready for the fourth.

HOPE SO! :confused3 LOOKING FORWARD to hearing more and seeing some pics during July!:Pinkbounc

It's actually the same price for the time being, I'm surprised, I have been researching as DS has decided to join us. That view is beautiful I hope you have a wonderful trip!

True price is the same but room is larger and has 2 showers. Also, we are getting regular housekeeping (daily) at no cost. I believe DVC has to pay for that?

All true that's why I can't believe the price is the same and even your view I would factor in. That is what I have booked and thought oh I will just get a standard for my DS then saw the price was the same and add in that the majority of the rooms are connected in the studios just really is no comparison. I also was able to get a cash discount through DVC, no discount was available on the standard right now.

I should add in case someone is renting pts. there is trash and towel on day 4 and full cleaning on day 8 that is included with your DVC stay.

I just wanted to say thanks to all those that have been providing updates throughout the construction. We are taking a family vacation with my parents in September and I used this thread to convince them the construction wouldn't be as bad as they thought come September. They were leaning towards BLT and as much as I would have liked easy access to MK, I think my 3 1/2 year old son will enjoy Polynesian so much more.

Haha all the better. Sorry, I was just shocked the regular price between the studio and standard was the same without discounts. Congratulations on your upgrade.

They had to due to somewhat new state regulations. Any new pool has to have a fence around it. And any time WDW refurbishes an existing pool, they have to put a fence around it.

So, it has nothing to do with keeping out pool hoppers after all. It's just a by-law? When we put a pool in a few years ago, we had to have a fence, had to follow certain height restrictions, have a locked gate, etc. and each township in the area had its own set of restrictions. Hmmmm...so that's all the Poly did...followed a by-law. Too bad about all the speculation of kiposhing the pool hopping though, because although I've yet to stay at the Poly, and in preparation for our August stay, I've read oodles of such talk. I'm assuming that the Poly pool is traditionally crowded. And now because the crowds still exist, I hear people are speaking out. I won't know the difference, of course. But I wish if pool hopping was a problem, that it be addressed.

I love the pics! Never been to the Poly before, and as a registered user of Touring Plans.com, I opted to take advantage of their new courtesy fax that's sent to the room assigner 5 days or so before arrival. And I've selected 3011 as my preferred room! That would be exactly one floor above yours, so your pics really give me a feel for the resort. :thanks:

The pic looking left, is that the path to the TTC?

So in your opinion, what was better, studio or regular room, as far as room amenities are concerned? I struggled with this before settling on studio. I think the 2 bathrooms were the deciding factors, with the kitchenette a close second. We're a family of 5. TIA!

We don't know. They could have wanted to try and keep non Poly guests out also. But they definitely HAD to install the fence to be within code.

There is a whole thread on this topic that I've been following. Some people say the gates are working....others say they are not...so can't figure it out. Then....some people say the pool is less crowded and others say....it is not. I guess we shall just have to see. But...if you are interested in the pool hopping subject, just use the search feature. I'm looking forward to my first stay at Poly....very excited. Happy Trip Everyone!

Guess I will just have to wait and see for myself...next week! Our 2nd ever stay at Poly and first in DVC Villas. We do NOT have a lake view room. Kids (and adults) are over the moon excited about the trip! I'm curious about the pool too. My in-laws booked last minute (this week) but are at the Contemporary. I would love to be able to hang out with them at the pool but different resorts makes that tough. I told them no way we could have them join us at the Poly pool with the crowds. Now when we move to our room at BLT it might be easier...we could join them at the main Contemporary pool since they may not be able to use BLT pool either. It sucks since this my be my MILs last trip for a long time due to upcoming surgery to remove her one remaining kidney due to cancer which is scheduled as soon as they return from this trip. So parks are hard for her and she'd much rather lounge at the pool with us for a while.

Just came back from 10 days at the Poly. Loved it. We were there from June 12 through June 21. I saw lit tiki torches when I was there. My daughters (13 and 7) loved the pool. I don't have one negative comment. By the way, we were in a standard room at Aotearoa. Could see the monorail, the marina and the pool from our balcony on the 3rd floor.
Aotearoa is my favorite longhouse! I request it every time. :)

We liked both. Honestly the studio 5 may be tight because there is very little storage -- only 2 drawers under queen bed, no dresser. But having 2 showers -- one with toilet -- has been great. The pull out couch is very comfortable. Even the Murphy bed is quite comfy. I took a nap on it and I am 6ft and lets just say >200 lb. :-)

The small kitchenette area is nice but underused by us.

Would have preferred Fiji just because we have stayed there so much, but the studio rooms are new, spacious and convenient to TTC and buses.

If storage is a deal breaker, go for standard room. If not, either is a great choice.

I know people have very strong opinions about pool hopping. Frankly, I don't consider your situation pool hopping. I think there are some of us who feel there is an exception to every rule, your example being one of them. I have no problem with your in-laws hanging out with you at the poly pool. I also have no issue with you going over to the Contemporary. You are paying guests at both places. It just so happens that my daughter and grandkids could not get a room at poly and they too are at contemporary. What someone else did, in a similar case, was to ask the pool attendant if it was okay to spend some time together at the pool. He/she said yes. I imagine it makes a difference if the pool is crowded, and if that was the case then you should find somewhere else to hang out, like for dinner or something. I think what is not okay....is someone packing up their swim gear for the day, who is staying off site, and bring the family for a day at the pool. I have also heard that there are some folks who are just visiting the park for a day. Use your best judgment and try not to make any one angry! Enjoy your vacation!
