Marathon Weekend 2016

I just registered a few days ago so I can submit a proof of time yet. How long does the race need to be to submit?

  • Proof of time must be provided from a certified race reflecting results after January 1, 2014 and must be one of the below listed distances. Runners will be placed in the last corral if the appropriate race distance is not submitted for Proof of Time.
    • Half Marathon – 10K, 12K, 15K, 10 Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon
    • Full Marathon – 10 Mile, Half Marathon or Marathon

GRRRRR! Took me forever to find out why the link couldn't find my registration; ACTIVE screwed up my personal info YET AGAIN. I swear, every race I sign up for thru them they change something else in my profile. First it was my emails, then my address, now my DATE OF BIRTH! I despise using ACTIVE so much....

For the 5k distance I am good to go without any proof of time right? I marked the box at registration in the pace group where I thought I would finish.
I have proof of time if I need it but it looks like it's just for the 1/2 & full? Anyone care to confirm so I can not worry about it?

You're right; rD website says, "Proof of time is not required for the 5K and 10K races." :)

If I do not have a proof of time am I automatically at the back of the corrals? Also can I use my Disney 10k from this past January for my half in 2016? If so how do I do that? I'm trying to find another race to get my time up because my 10k in Disney was definitely not for time.

I'm to lazy to quote everyone's posts so I'm just going to respond at once, first off HOORAY to all my fellow first time Marathoner's Now I don't feel so alone! All I keep hearing is how great WDW is for a first Marathon and its definitely part of the reason I even had the courage to sign up, When I first started running I NEVER thought a marathon would be in my future even when training for my first Half I was pretty sure that the big 26.2 was out of reach for me but the more I run the more I feel like "Yes I can do this" and if anything will give me that extra push its going to be Disney. I read a quote once that was something to the effect of "a marathon is hundreds of miles the finish is the last 26.2" that's what ill be thinking of once my full on training begins. As for the person that was asking about training miles before a race most beginner programs wont have you hit the full distance until race day, I know my half training topped out at 12 and the full program ill be doing tops out at 22. for the half if you can run 11 in training then you should have no problems hitting 13.1 on race day just remember to keep your pace slow at the beginning you are going to have a ton of adrenaline and this can often lead to over doing it the first half and regretting it the second half. trust your training and follow your pace try to keep it nice and steady and have a strong finish

I hadn't even realized proof of time was available yet I think ill wait until my half here in two weeks as im hoping to improve my PR

@rteetz -- Google WDW Half Marathon 2015 Corrals and see what corral times look like.

I can't remember what your 10k time at Disney was this year, but if it was under 1:30, you should use that as your PoT for now and then maybe find another local 10k to improve on that time.

EDITED: OMG. I just looked up your TR and your time. 1:13 for a 10K with character stops is awesome! That will put you (worst case) at 2:42 for a half, according to the McMillan calculator as far as corrals go.

You're an athlete - a good, quick one! - so use that to your advantage!

Thank you so much!

Didn't receive any rD emails yet :charac2:

It's been a while since my last post here, but I just want to say that this board has the best "Dispeople" ever - all this excitement and support is awesome!

:disrocks:

Hope to meet you all at WDW marathon weekend!

Now I seem to have a it of a dilemma. I went to enter my proof of time from my 10k last year and on the proof of time site it says I am not found when I enter in my birthdate and last name. I don't know what to do any ideas?

Ok i am freaking out a bit. Since I can't submit my proof of time which i thought was weird I went to the check if I am registered page. I entered that info and it only came up with the 5k not my half. I have a receipt with a confirmation number for the half but its not listed I don't know what to do and I feel this is not good.

So a month ago many of us were going crazy trying to sign up for Marathon Weekend, that means one month down and seven to go! :-)

Got the runDisney Email today too, I know we have a long ways to wait, but sure is exciting! This weekend I am running in a local half marathon and hoping to PR and get a good time to post. Happy training to everyone.

Pretty common. Sometimes Active screws up birth dates (off by a day or whatever), sometimes people typo their names when they're registering (happened to my brother in 2013...he added an extra "r" to his last name). Email runDisney/Active with your confirmation number and they'll figure it out.

OK i emailed. What else I found odd was that When I went to the check if I'm registered page or whatever and resent my confirmation emails, once I opened the emails i had one for both the half and 5k. I then clicked on the view your complete registration details link and it brought me to a page that said registration not found. I don't get how they can send me an email for my registration and then go to their site for registration details and the details aren't found.

When was the first day you could send in your proof of time?I know I did it for the Wine and Dine but I'm not sure if I submitted it for Marathon weekend,I thought I hadn't done it and I did just do it today but what has me confused is that it has me click on a link that says update so I guess maybe I did do it earlier,I don't know,it's not that big a deal.I also submitted my time from a half that was a few minutes slower than another one I can use,the reason is that I sometimes use two variations of my first name and I don't want a dumb thing like that to make me end up in the last corral,so I went with a race that I used the same name as for the WDW marathon.

As long as your half and 5K registrations show up on the "Check To See If I'm Registered" page, you should be golden. Active is such a SNAFU and when I have to register through them I register as a guest. Takes a few minutes longer, but saves the headaches.

As Ariel said, contact rD directly and verify what information Active sent in on your behalf. Correct it also as it will affect you POT too.

Yesterday was the first day. The POT window is May 28th - October 6th.

But see that's the problem. I went to the check to see if I'm registered page and only my 5k came up. I emailed active last night asking if I'm registered and gave them my confirmation number. They said I'm registered and sent me my receipt again. I also emailed rundisney but they haven't responded yet so we will have to see.

My most recent half marathon was not a great one but based on the McMillan calculator it's putting me at 5:49 for the Marathon. Unfortunately that was a slow one for me because I was sick and had to stop a lot so I'm hoping to get at least a 10 miler and a half in before the results need to be submitted. I'm running a 7.1 mile race in August that I'm training in hopes of getting a PR so I'm hoping I can line all these races up so my training for that can carry over to the 10 miler and the half.

I guess this is what I get for running long distance obstacle course races. Can't exactly submit a 13 mile Spartan race for POT :)

My husband's date of birth is 3/1 and no matter how many times we update it in his Active account they change it to 2/29. The weird thing about that is he was born in a leap year, so 2/29 is definitely not his birthday. We go with it and after 4 years of dealing with it just know what to do when we cannot find his registration. It happens for any event we use Active to register for, not just Disney ones.
