I'll be interested to see how the Tomorrowland movie with George Clooney works. I'm half wondering if it's a hit, Disney will use it to revitalize Tomorrowland itself...
I think 'Tomorrow Land' needs an over-hall, what do riding in a submarine (Nemo) and riding in a car on tracks have to do with tomorrow? So those two things could go anyway. The Star Wars ride was originally Star Tours which fit with the idea of the Space Frontier being in the future e.g. 'Tomorrow' along with the other space themed rides in 'Tomorrowland'. Space exploration certainly has come a long way since Walt first designed 'Tomorrowland'. so maybe they just need to cut the Tomorrow part call it something else and expand the Star Wars theme as there is also already the Jedi Training Academy. I'm thinking most people wouldn't want to lose Space Mountain to Star Wars Land or would they re-theme that to fit? and what about the Buzz Lightyear ride? I also like Toontown for littlies and meeting Mickey and Minnie in their houses, it just needs a good repaint and freshen up.
That seems to be the prevailing wisdom, that DHS will be getting a massive overhaul, similar to DCA but maybe even bigger, with a Star Wars land and expanded Pixar land being added. Iger even confirmed that DHS will be getting a name change, probably something like Disney Hollywood Adventure, that a lot of people are assuming will be tied into the renovations. To tell the truth, as much as DCA needed its overhaul, the Studios may need it more. To call it a half day park is being generous and without any actual studio work going on there it is sorely lacking in overall theme and purpose. At least one rumor seems to hint that a Star Wars land might land at WDW, most likely at the Studios, which is already closing down several old elements of the park such as the backstage tour. I really hope that is the case. They claim that the Disneyland Resort may receive a Star Wars land in the future but that WDW will get one first. I hope that is the case.
I'll probably be crucified, but I actually liked the magic bands from our trip to WDW last week. No trying to find those fast pass slips, wondering if I dropped one, no digging out a key for my hotel room. My wife's a planner anyways so I just let her take care of that. Didn't really impact us going with the flow and we pretty much accomplished everything we wanted to.
I agree with this; I kinda like the idea of the magic bands to replace the room key but just not sold on FP+ yet. I can see some interesting up sides to it, but until I've experienced it, I will withhold full judgment. I just don't like change is all.I like the idea of magic bands. I don't like the idea of FP+. I think most people would agree with that (but I could be wrong... wait, this is the internet! I'm not wrong! I'm never wrong!).
I thought this part was also interesting. So maybe Toontown/Nemo/Autopia would be safe for a while? He declined to offer details but said he does not plan to remove any favorite features to make room for new "Star Wars" attractions. "We will look at 'Star Wars' to be a plus while not taking away from things that people love," he said.
