Live from the Polynesian

Checked out BLT- which was awesome and we really enjoyed it. I didn't think our surprise theme park view could be topped- booked a lake view studio and received a room on the 14th floor with a partial lake view- big time castle view.

And then we moved to the Polynesian. Expectations were a bit low considering Moorea opened not too long ago and the pool has been having issues.

Received a 3rd floor lake view villa and fell in love. The pool is fantastic. The lounge chairs are cushioned! The kids are happy. The space in the room compared to BLT is unmatched.

We liked BLT but we so far LOVE the Polynesian. Yes the details seem to be rushed- poor paint job in spots, poor grout work. I haven't used the shower yet so can't comment on the drain issues. But overall- happy and pleased.

I promise to follow up with a few reviews and pictures once the newness wears and I can make a more informed opinion but so far? It's great!

The pool closes at 10pm and really is fantastic. I know some wished it was larger but it's 90+ degrees and beautiful out and there are only 10 people in the pool (including my 2 kids)

We grabbed food from captain cooks (which was really good too) and ate pool side at one of the tables. Plenty of tables and chairs available. image.jpg

Uh Oa. The tikis on that mug crack me up. We broke down and bought the souvenir mug.

Glad you are having a great time.

I have to admit, our recent trip to PVB was the hardest one we have had to come back from. I really liked strolling along the lake.
Hope you have a great rest of your stay.

Do all of the upper floor studio rooms have balconies?
All three DVC Longhouses have balconies on the 2nd and 3rd floor villas. The 1st floor villas have patios. Some of the older longhouses that still belong to the hotel don't have balconies on all floors.

I could be mistaken but I thought I read that the second floor in the hotel portion (ie the original longhouses) did not have balconies

On the hotel side, the 2nd floor hotel rooms do not have balconies, that is correct. But for DVC, the DVC longhouses were re-done to add second floor balconies so every studio has a balcony or patio regardless of floor.

We couldn't hear wishes from the balcony that well. And we couldn't find it on resort tv. I should have asked!

We did hear the boat horns pretty well though! By the second night we were used to it and hardly noticing

The DVC longhouses have always had balconies on the second and third floor.

The DVC longhouses were add to Poly years after Poly opened in 1971. Tokelau is the oldest of the 3, I think it was 1978 but could be off. Pago Pago and Moorea were added around 1985.
