Toddler Twins take another Trip Aug/Sept '15 PTR: 3 MORE SLEEPS

I'm taking my 2 year old twins in June to celebrate their 3rd birthday. Watching to see how your family does!

I got a 4pm CRT dinner out of the blue yesterday. I was looking for an Akershus but I lucked out and now I don't have to park hop. I hear toddlers aren't good at that type of thing. :-)
My only issue is I have a 1:10 lunch at Crystal Palace. I may do DisneyDiningBuddy to see if I can get it earlier. I keep checking (which is how I got CRT) but no luck so far. We will need some type of afternoon break.

I would definitely try DisneyDiningBuddy! I was really happy with it. Only reason we aren't doing CP this time is dear hubby says he is "sick of it," whatever that means. I think it has something to do with Piglet bumping the waitress and spilling a whole tray of drinks down his back the trip before last...

Have your little ones been before? It's such a great age I think! Where are you staying?

This will be their first trip. I went for the first time with my best friend in Sept last year for F&W. I had a really good time.

We are doing a split stay at AofA and Pop Century. I was going to do the whole week at AofA but my 15 year old asked to stay at Pop so I'm going to do it for her.

We were booked at Pop first for this trip, I've never stayed but people seem to love it! AofA looks awesome, the themed rooms are such a good idea.

Since you have been already.....

Is it easier to just do 1/2 day and other half resort/swimming? Or are the kids in generally good moods after lunch and break to go back for evening. Now that I have CRT I was thinking of just getting a later start that day and going to MK around 2:30pm.

One of mine I know will be fine. The other.....she is so unpredictable. I will have to find out when I get there.

Mine are generally good stroller nappers so we try and power through. Last time we stayed off site, though, so it was a bigger pain to pack up and go back. With the heat in June, though, I bet you'll want some pool time! Do you have a couple MK days scheduled? At least once you should get there first thing because the first hour or two the lines are much more manageable and you can get a lot done. Then take a long break at the resort and come back early evening. Book FP all for the afternoon/evenings because it will be a zoo by then!

My son is much more tempermental than my daughter, a tantrum or two is par for the course I think at this age!

Here's one of my favorite tantrum photos from our last trip (age 2 and 1/2)... we were waiting for Characterpalooza and he saw something he wanted in the gift shop. My husband posted it on facebook with the label "Tantrum #42." It wasn't really that bad though :)tantrum.jpg

WELL!!!! I just RANDOMLY got a dessert party reservation for May 8th!!!! I feel the pixie dust. I still really hope I can change it for the 9th but I guess we may be okay with a late night/early morning combo since its just one night. I now need to make a May 8th plan B :)

Okay world, I may need some help with this one! Getting the dessert party for May 8th has me a bit flustered, because I planned on turning in early that night in order to get up at dawn's crack for our 8am CRT. Here are our options, two of which rely on scoring another hard to get reservation via disneydiningbuddy, one keeps things as they are. No matter what I am now dumping my wishes FP for May 9th because regardless I will be dessert partying for my wishes viewing. Okay, so here are my thoughts...

Option 1 (the "as is" option): Keep the dessert party May 8th and do our late evening that first park day, and suck it up the next morning for a very early start with possibly cranky toddlers.

Option 2 (Dream Option): Miraculously obtain dessert party for May 9th instead, make someone deleriously happy by coordinating the drop of our May 8th score, and proceed with early to bed on the 8th and a jam-packed day on the 9th as I planned (and outlined above).

Option 3 (the has-me-thinking option): Keep the May 8th dessert party and have that be our late night. Dump the 8:05 CRT and sleep in, hitting the parks closer to 9:30-10. (we would be riding rides at that point anyway). Miraculously score a late breakfast or early lunch CRT instead... 10:40 sounds good?? Then park until we drop, hopefully leaving around 9 after MSEP.

I think I can reasonably keep all these options open until the last possible moment of cancellation, dependent on whether the other reservations emerge or not. For some reason it is sticking in my head that the dessert party has a 5 day cancellation policy?? I'll have to look that up. I got the 8am CRT through disneydiningbuddy so it is free to change the time of my search and just keep getting notified. And my May 9th dessert party search is still going already since I hadn't scored yet. So, do you think Option 1 would be do-able if my miracles dont come through? Or would you scrap one or the other in favor of sane children. hmmmm....

Option 1 is almost just like my 2 MK days but I have no choice unless I can get an earlier A&E fp. But I would try for option 2.

While I am stuck in limbo waiting to see what opens for our May trip (LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!!!!), I thought I would start the outline of our Aug/Sept trip. 8 nights! Everything we want to do! Not a budget trip, this is a Splurge trip. So no holds barred.

Fri, Aug 28th: Arrival Day- plane lands around 5pm, taking Magical Express, check into Beach Club, relax and unpack, no plans. Depending on time we will pop in the pool and have a QS or room service dinner at the resort.

Sat, Aug 29th: Epcot. Early breakfast in the room, then stroll to Future world for RD. Mom and Dad will likely rider swap Soarin', and take the kids on Nemo repeatedly. I'll need some Starbucks. Hubby may want to go on Mission Space, but I will NEVER go near that ride as that horrible man tricked me onto it in 2004 or 2005 and ruined HOURS of my epcot day with the pukies. We will probably let the kids run around the showcase on our walk back to the international gateway, maybe do the boat ride in Mexico. Then back to our resort for early lunch at Beaches & Cream, then a dip in the pool, then a family nap. Then depending on weather and how we feel, we will either go swimming or hit more rides back at Epcot. Dinner at Coral Reef around 5. No evening plans.

Sun, Aug 30th: HS. No rush to get there. Plan to get FP on TSMM, Frozen sing along, and something else to be determined. We are not thrill riders. Priority of the day is Characterpalooza, if it is happening. Highlight of our trip last year. I will add a post dedicated to my love of characterpalooza. Lunch at 50's prime time, Fantasmic dinner package at Mama Melrose's. If we decide we cant make it late enough for Fantasmic I'll just give our vouchers to an unsuspecting family.

Mon, Aug 31st: Epcot. pre-park Akershus! Whoo hoo! Excited to get my princess dressed up for this. Plenty of time for her to decide what costume she wants next. Then like a long pool day planned at Storm-along Bay. Back to Mexico for dinner at San Angel, of course we hit the boat ride again. Going to try and stay up late for Illuminations.

Tuesday, Sept 1: Typhoon Lagoon. Sleep in (which is 8am at the latest for us!). Check out of Beach Club and send our luggage on to the POly so it will be there in the afternoon. Today is a BIG splurge day. First, I booked us a Beachcomber Shack at TL. We will spend the day mostly in the kiddie areas. I plan on having an adult beverage or two. Then, we check into the Poly. Hope to head over there around 3pm. Fingers crossed room is ready, and we all have a late nap. Dinner option of 1900 PF vs a quick bite at the hotel, because this evening we are going on the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage! ***(this fancy day is a consolation prize because I was so sad MNSSHP starts so late this year. If, by some miracle, more dates get added, I will drop these plans for the party in a heartbeat.)

Wed, Sept 2: MK. rope drop. Considering adding prepark BOG breakfast once dates are extended. Standard MK fun in the am. BOG lunch scheduled. Will take afternoon break for pool and nap at the POly. Back for parade and Wishes Dessert Party that night.

Thurs, Sept 3: AK. 1/2 day at AK planned. Lunch at Tusker. Back to resort by 3-4 to hang at the pool the rest of the night.

Fri, Sept 4: MK: prepark CP, BOG dinner. No concrete plans. Still a thread of hope for a Halloween party, because I am an optimist.

Sat Sept 5: 8:00 Ohana, then MK for the morning. Our flight isn't until late so I don't expect our Magical Express ride to be much before 3pm. Oh, even typing about going home makes me sad!

I realize now I gave several shots of my little dude but none of the lady. So here is my daughter and the Rapunzel dress I made her!

Well Option 2 is a go! I was lucky enough to get the dessert party for the 9th instead. SO I am going to cancel the one of the 8th and plan on an earlier night that night so we are refreshed for a big day on saturday! I got the text that it was available while at our local maple festival, could barely see the phone while making the reservation, but it worked! Yippee for pixie dust!

:cool1: I am SO HAPPY. :cool1:

BUT, being done planning my May trip leaves a little "disney hole." YEsterday I entered everything into Touring Plans. I cant believe how much it thinks we can get done in two days even with big afternoon breaks scheduled in. I tend not to follow the touring plans too much, but I am tempted to with one of the days, at least. We'll see.

Now that I am not obsessively stalking/dreaming/planning, I guess it means it is time to start packing! I am not a naturally organized packer. I found the best tip I have gotten was about packing individual kids clothes in big ziplocks. Because we only have three days and are going with matching outfits each day, I dont think that is necessary. But I will do a couple zip locks for swim stuff, and "back up clothes," so it is easy to throw those bags in the stroller and know we are good for the day.

All 4 of us our sharing ONE suitcase that needs to be under 40 lbs. Luckily clothes for 2 year olds are small.

My suitcase packing list:

Three outfits per person
Extra top and bottom per kid
extra button ups for DH, extra T for me
swimsuits (2 for the kids, 1 for adults), rash guards for kids
swim diapers (3 per kid)
one pair of sandals per person (wear sneakers on plane)
sun hats for kids
2 princess dresses and wands
lightweight PJ pants for adults, disney themed PJs for the kids (# to be determined)
sunscreen (one spray bottle, more being delivered by garden grocer)
extra socks
baseball caps for grown ups
Bathroom bag (we will share one LLbean travel bag)
assorted chargers
light tote bag for under stroller

In my new dooney disney purse for carry-on:
kindle
ipad
bag of small toiletries
a couple little snacks
Magic Bands
My "disney file" of plans

DH's backpack:
pull-ups/wipes
DVD player
snacks

We are renting a car so will likely check our car seats, or maybe gate check them. Renting a stroller so we are not bringing that either. Being delivered: one case of water, juice boxes, fruit snacks, cereal bars, and pouches of applesauce and yogurt.

SUggestions to add appreciated!

It only took me until the second page for me to remember ...I know her!!! LOL!

I LOVE the shirts. I will NEVER EVER do the tie dye Mickey ones again...did them once for a "Big Give" and swore I would never do them again. I am liking those bleach shirts! That is something to keep in mind for the next trip!

We will be in MK on the evening of the 8th too! We will have to meet up. I will send you a PM with mine and Matt's info!

The funny thing is, I for some reason thought you folks were from California...go figure...LOL! I have no idea why I thought this!

Have you looked at EasyWDW.com for touring plans and crowd calendars? I like their layout and suggestions. This will be the first trip I have not packed outfits in plastic baggies. (and those baggies come in handy for so many things!)

Sounds good! I have used easywdw.com for crowd calendars, but I haven't used their touring plans. I will check it out. It will be good to meet you guys in person! We are probably turning in early that night so we are refreshed for CRT in the morning, but probably won't leave until 7pm or so.

What's the "Big Give?" I really liked making the Mickey shirts! My first attempt didn't turn out quite as great as the second. Only problem was, despite gloves, my hands looked like death afterwards.

Had to pop in to check out your TR since we will be there at the same time! I love the Rapunzel dress you made for your DD and the bleach shirts are especially cool. The 9th will be a busy one at the MK but it'll be really fun! :)

No secret to those that know me that I love to do a little shopping online. Well there is no excuse like a Disney Vacation to get some last minute essentials! The fun part of this week is having all those purchases roll in. A couple days ago my new Dooney and Burke purse came in, disney themed of course!

THen yesterday I got 1/2 of my new PJ order (I love having new PJs on vacation), Sophie the first for DD, mickey mouse bottoms for me!
Today we got our clip on stroller fans, and semi-disposable rain coats just in case of a Disney Shower (Mickey for DS, Princesses for DD).
Hopefully later this week DS's new toy story PJs will arrive!

Just needed to pop on and say one week from today I'll be soaking up some FL sun, Mickey bar in hand. 99% packed, but 100% ready!
