our first DREAM cruise....does this mean we're pirates?

Lori!! Omg! I'm finally here! Long story!! We went on our Disney trip and about 2 weeks before that, we found out our 3rd baby was a girl.... Imagine our excitement after two boys. We even did a gender reveal at Disney with Cinderella. .. Well now_ they are pretty sure its really a boy. I've been a little sad over it BC I got my hopes up but starting to feel a little better.

The trip sounds so great! I can't wait until we are able to do one!

yay! i'm glad you're here! did you start a TR for the trip? I would love to see the gender reveal with Cinderella--that's awesome! I can't believe they told you it was a girl, but now think it's a boy? I mean, who really cares in the long run, right? so long as it's healthy, that's what matters, but it is a bummer to get your hopes up. either way, you have the most adorable kids ever, so it's sure to be another little cutie!

I'm sorry I can't answer any of your questions as I'm not very familiar with Disney Cruise Line, but Avengers Academy?! Jamie and I would be there every day with Hannah and Madison  I hope they do something similar for you on the Dream :goodvibes

I think the avenger's academy is just on the magic (gives us a reason to try another cruise on a different ship, right?) but it would be so fun for the girls (yeah....for the girls. I wouldn't enjoy it at all, i'm sure  )

hi everyone! sorry i've been gone for so long. i wanted to get a sewing project done before i posted again so i'd have some pictures to share!

i made some pirate-y cover ups for Hannah, Maddie, C and L. i've never really appliqued before, so they're not perfect, but i think they turned out pretty well! Maddie and L will match and Hannah and C will match.

fronts....

backs....

with the hood down....

no matter what they look like, they should keep the kiddos warm and dry them off quickly!

and since i'm talking pool....here's the new swimsuit i got for the trip. i thought it was just too cute and so Minnie-ish! the white dots actually have a black ring around them too. (excuse the dog toy in the background....)

i also have part of the outfits for our pirate night sorted out. Rich is just going to wear a black tshirt and some shorts. if i've done my research correctly (and i'm pretty sure i have :thumbsup2) they'll give us some pirate things also so he can wear that too. i'm making tutu's for the girls but haven't figured out shirts yet--that'll have to be another post. this will be my pirate night outfit. sorry about the wrinkly skirt--it's been put away all winter. simple but fun, i think.

i guess that's all for today. i hope to be back soon with more pictures of sewing projects. once i get the trip paid off, i can start planning activities and have more to share.

only 175 days to go!

just a few questions that were on my mind to any of the cruising pros out there.....

how does shutters work? is it like getting the memory maker when at the parks (where you pay a flat rate and get a disc of pictures) or is there something else to know? is there a way to do a photo share (like can we and the X's split the cost and have pictures of us all on one disc)?

also, i know that my phone won't work when we're on the ship to make calls (and i'm actually pretty glad about that!), but what about using it for other things like taking pictures and using it to keep track of time. i don't wear a watch and i use my phone to take pictures all the time. do i need to pack a camera and get a watch? i feel like that's a dumb question, but i just want to be prepared! thanks for any info!

Back again! Just couldn't resist sharing these pictures. We put up our countdown paper chain tonight! We used these that I got from thepurplepumpkinblog.co.uk for the last 50 days. She had villains, classic characters and princesses. The girls love them and I think they're super cute!

The girls were pretty excited!

you know i LOVE those chains!!! This is going to be one of our activities much later down the road.

the girls are adorable I think you did a great job on the towel capes!!!

I love the towels! They turned out so cute! Great job!

Cute swimsuit! I had a red and white polka dot suit for our cruise too! Totally Minnie!

Pirate night they give you a bandanna to wear or least that is what they used to do. We didn't not realize you were supposed to have pirate night stuff so all we had were the bandannas. It was not a big deal. I love your outfit though, cute and pirate-y without being costumey! Perfect!pirate:

Cute countdown chain!

I love the hooded towels, awesome job!

That is seriously a perfect swimsuit!

The countdown chain is super cute!

I love your new items!! I wish I were creative! That swimsuit def looks minnieish!

I may have asked you this before but do you do appliques and monograms?

How did I miss this PTR?!

Any who following along! I'd love to do a cruise when DD is a big kid, just looks so fun!

The cover ups look great, and I adore your bathing suit; have a similar one in blue!

Pirate night sounds like such fun. I know nothing about the cruises so I'm psyched to see what you guys have planned!

Cute countdown chain!

thanks! I was pretty happy with the towels, even though I clearly need some work on my appliques!

i'm loving my swimsuit....now if I can make it through the summer without wearing it....

i can't believe i talked about pirate night and didn't use this....pirate: ! i figured rich and i could be a little more simple. i'm saving my creative juices on stuff for the girls.

I love the hooded towels, awesome job!

thanks! i'm having a lot of fun getting ready for the cruise. i may or may not be freaking our friends out with my early preparations. i don't think they realized the level of my Disney love!

I love your new items!! I wish I were creative! That swimsuit def looks minnieish!

I may have asked you this before but do you do appliques and monograms?

i don't really do appliques. this was my third time attempting them. i liked them this time, and i think i might be getting better, but i'm definitely not a pro at them. and, i wish i could do monograms, but i don't have an embroidery machine. if i ever strike it rich, it's on my list for sure! they are crazy expensive.

i'm glad you found me! i tried to send messages to everyone from the TR, but some people couldn't get them for some reason. i still have occasional issues with this new DIS.

once we hit our 6 month mark and after i started this PTR, i have gotten super excited about the cruise. i don't think our friends realized how crazy i'd get planning things. they haven't even told their kids yet because they don't want to answer "how many more days?" already. at our house we're listening to our playlist, watching youtube videos of the aquaduck, and playing the ship's horn music every morning when we pull out of the driveway!

i don't know much about cruising on other cruise lines, but there is a ton a awesome stuff to do on the Disney ships! since we're going in the fall, we'll get a Halloween party too! i know they also do things for thanksgiving and Christmas. it's going to be so fun!

after i posted three times in a row the other day, i realized i forgot some things i had wanted to tell everyone....so, i'm back! :sail:

first...i got our plane tickets for the trip! southwest, the airline we always take, was having a sale and we ended up saving about $250.

second...i made a playlist! we've already been listening to it, but my plan is to put it on in the van that takes us from the airport to the ship. i even found a CD that has disney songs done by steel drums! :upsidedow i was so excited! here are the songs i put on it, in case anyone wants to benefit from my hours of singing poorly and really loud....um, i mean, research :)

on top of the world.....imagine dragons
beyond the sea.....bobby darin
the little mermaid: under the sea.....Trinidad and Tobago showboat orchestra
lime in the coconut.....sugar beats
port side.....captain bogg and salty
scurvy.....captain bogg and salty
two hornpipes.....hans zimmer
yo ho, yo ho! a pirates life for me.....Dominik hauser
the sailor's hornpipe.....the hit crew
he's a pirate.....klaus badelt
kiss the girl.....vitamin C
hawaiian roller coaster ride.....jump5
under the sea.....raven-Symone
three little birds.....bob marley
a dream is a wish your heart makes.....Disney channel stars
mary poppins: spoonful of sugar.....Trinidad and Tobago showboat orchestra
one love.....bob marley
pieces of 8.....captain bogg and salty
never smile at a crococile.....captain bogg and salty
the little mermaid:kiss the girl.....Trinidad and Tobago showboat orchestra
when you wish upon a star.....jesse McCartney
the girls really love spoonful of sugar on the steel drums and captain bogg and salty are captain hooks sidekicks on jake and the neverland pirates, if you didn't already know that.

we've also been listening to the dream's ship horn songs here pirate:

and watching this video of the aquaduck. the girls are super excited to try this out! :donald:

i think the only other plans we've made are that we are flying in the evening 2 days before the cruise. we're going to get a hotel room (undecided where yet) for that night. the next day we're going to go to LEGOLAND which just opened the middle of march. then the morning of the cruise, we'll head back to the airport and meet the X's there. i'm pretty sure that we are going to rent a van from happy limo to take us all to the boat. i even found a coupon on mousesavers!

i have the sewing itch again and really want to make skirts for the girls to wear on our first day. hopefully, i'll be back with some pictures soon!

I LOOOVE the towels! Have I said it lately? You are SO talented! :)

Super cute Minnie swimsuit & pirate outfit. That shirt is PERFECT!

They do give you bandana's. They are like half bandana's though..and if you have a big head (like my hubby) they don't fit well!

I can answer your shutters question. What you do is literally just take pictures. They have software recognition and will place your pictures in a portfolio on the ship every night (from that date). Your portfolio number is given to you by a computer in the shutters store. You have several different options of purchasing the photos... either by picture (very expensive) or by package. They have several package types as well- (5, 10, 20 photos). Lastly, you can choose to buy all the photos (either on CD or hard copies). The price is VERY high compared to memory maker/photopass. It varies by cruise length, but regardless is still VERY high. For our 7 day cruise, I think I paid $360 for it. 5 days is around $300. There is no discount (that I know of) by pre-purchasing it early like there is for memory maker. That allows you to decide ON the ship if you really want to dish out the money for the photos that were taken.

There is no way to do a photoshare. They will NOT combined portfolios UNLESS you have linked cabins with immediate family in the other cabin. For instance, you have two cabins with dad holding 2 kids in one & mom holding a kid in another. We were able to combine ours because I bought the package and my oldest daughter was sharing a room with Grandma. Since my daughter was immediate relative, I could combine that cabin. Had it JUST been Grandma- they would not have allowed her pictures on my package. They are super strict about that...

Now, that being said, if you (or your immediate family members) are IN a picture with other people not in your cabin, you could add that picture to your portfolio.

For your phone.. yup- you can still use it. Just make sure to turn OFF roaming features or it will start to roam on the ship & charge you those rate (very, very high rates). Or even just put it on airplane. The cruise has an app that you can use on the boat that tells you times & locations of things (navigator by phone) as well... it's a special way to log in and they will give you instructions. No fees/roaming/wireless required to use it.

aw, thanks! if you ever need anything for a trip, let me know! I love making stuff--it's totally my stress outlet and if people like it and get some pleasure from it, even better!

Super cute Minnie swimsuit & pirate outfit. That shirt is PERFECT!

I am loving that shirt! I found it for like $8--what a deal!

good to know....I think we have bandanas leftover from when we did the pirate cruise at WDW. I know I can find something in the dress up box. we seem to have quite the accumulation of pirate dress up stuff.....

thank you SO very much for your answers! I was worried about my phone--I've gotten so used to using it for pictures, I actually like a lot of the ones I take on it. and, I haven't worn a watch since I took mine off in Hawaii about 15 years ago and I just can't imagine wearing one again! (how was the trip?!? I'm assuming you survived all shark attacks since you're back on the DIS)

oh, this photo stuff is stressing me out. why is it so dang expensive?!? will they use our camera to take pictures like they do in the parks? i'm thinking if I get pictures they took, I just might get ones that are of all of us and just keep my photos of the kids, etc. oh, who am i kidding? i'm sure i'll look at the pics they took, decide i love them and that it's totally worth the money! I do sort of wish it was more like in the parks....thanks again though--you are full of good information!! :flower3:

Hawaii was awesome & amazing & wonderful. I did not get eaten by a shark. However, I just found out yesterday by accident that there was an actual shark attack at Hapuna Beach A WEEK (literally) before we set foot on the very same beach and I let my kids swim there! I basically threw up in my mouth when I read that! But we had no shark sightings but every other type of sighting we could wish for (whales, dolphins, turtles, octopus, eels, fish galore, geckos!) And not wish for (cockroaches!) :)

For the photos they WILL take one with your camera with characters. However if you want any of the ship portraits with the backdrops- they obviously won't take one there. That's the kicker- because they do a pretty good job on those portraits & you end up wanting them! And so they charge you ridiculous amounts of money for them. I didn't do it for our 5 day cruise- I couldn't justify the cost.. but I did for the 7 day. But I knew that going in so I made sure to get TONS AND TONS of pictures to make it worth my money! And some of those portraits are my favorites from the trip. So for me, it was worth it for the 7 day.

if you pre-purchase the unlimited cd you can get a discount! And any staterooms traveling with you can get it for half price! If you split that difference, it saves you about $100 off the onboard price. We are doing this for our upcoming cruise on the Magic next month. go to mycruisephotos.com

oooo--that's awesome news! Thanks for the heads up! I tried to get on my cruise photos the other day but our cruise wasn't listed yet. Too far out still, I guess, but I'm for sure making a note of that!

So i just stole two of your songs for our playlist!
thanks! HA HA! I do love your list think it will be awesome for your drive!!!

That's cool about making a playlist! I know that helps add to the excitement as it is! :) I SO can't wait until we are planning another trip.. Looks like it will be close to 2017 for us with a new baby though! :(
