So...is there a conference schedule?
For us, it may matter. When I read that there weren't any tables at the for court because people were spread out with laptops for hours, and I know that at our last Boardwalk stay we rarely saw children but instead the boats and walking areas were all adults ( and outside areas were filled with many smokers), yes- its something I would like to find out about more. We are booked at CSR, but could easily switch to CBR. Just trying to find a mod we like in case we travel during free dining next year- I'd like to get a sense of these places for a couple of nights before we book for a much longer stay.

There are websites that list conferences. I can't link them here but you can google it. I don't think any of them are comprehensive. FWIW, although I have only stayed there twice (15 days) I have never seen the Pepper Market full of conventioneers monopolizing the tables for hours for work related purposes. Seems like hyperbole to me.

I'm glad you brought this up because I have been thinking the same thing about conventioneers...might make it better, and might increase the chance for connecting rooms! And yeah, I won't feel sorry for them either...a convention at a Disney hotel with a fab pool, meals prepared and paid for, gorgeous hotel...not bad!

We stayed at CSR on each of our last five yearly trips and ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT. We're doing CBR this year, just to switch things up, but it wasn't an easy decision. Other resorts we've stayed at recently are POR, POFQ, and WL. We like CSR much more than even WL.

I agree 100% that the conventions are largely a non-factor at worst, and a way to keep bus and pool crowds down at best. Only negative I've encountered was getting to Rix's snack area at the same time as the conventioners and having to wait in a longer line, but even that wasn't that bad.

I'm so happy to hear that. We're booked for CSR, business class, and I've been tempted multiple times to switch to a Bunk Bed room at WL for $900 more. I compiled a list of pro's and cons, but ultimately decided that it wasn't worth the extra money.

there were overlapping 2 large conventions when I was there end of January. The resort seemed quite deserted and there was no wait at any restaurant, café rix, or food court except one night the Maya grill was booked for a private party. Contrast with POR which, even when not fully booked, seems packed with people, especially at the main pool. I think the conventions are a huge advantage to staying here, because the buses weren't crowded at all, and they have their own banquets and food arrangements.

We're staying business class next month as well and I also considered switching to WL. I decided why pay more to have a typical room at WL when I can have the best room at CSR for a price that seems like a steal to me?

Your tr's are what convinced me to try CSR! I'm sad y'all are going to be at CBR this year... I considered a switch when I saw the refurb'd rooms but then I found out the cheerleaders are staying there and there are competitions on either end of our week long trip. I hope you guys miss them!

Awesome! Glad my TRs have been helpful. I do plan to finish the one from last year....eventually. I'm bad with that.

I think we'll be too late to run into the cheerleaders, since we're going in June this year.

Kristin and I continue to wonder if we are making the right decision by skipping CSR this year. I even proposed eating at Maya Grill so we can go to the resort, but it didn't seem worth it (though we LOVE Maya Grill). I'm sure we'll love CBR, but I have a VERY hard time finding any faults with CSR. The only one I could potentially see for some people is the resort's size, but I view that as a positive. I liked the layout much more than POFQ or POR.

You're going to love it!

If anyone else wants to hear me rave about CSR and see hundreds of photos of the resort, feel free to check out my TRs as well ;)

Most, if not all resort now supply Joffreys coffee with the in room coffee makers. Its much better than the nasty Nescafe they used to supply. The coffee makers take the flat Cuisinart type of pod. IIRC, we had 2 each of the regular and decaf pods, which were replenished daily (and they'll leave you extra if you ask).

And yes, it is complimentary.

PSA: use bottled water to make your coffee. The Orlando water has an awful taste unless its filtered.

Thank you for the tip. The coffee is for my dad who lives in FL, and although I agree the water tastes horrific he may be able to tolerate it! or he can always buy it! HA his choice....

I am there on a convention 10/28-10/31. My crowd will not be in suits and taking up space with laptops.

So, can anyone guess why there would be absolutely NO availability at CSR for the week of December 12 - 19? On the link posted above I saw that Pop Warner was a possibility, but ending on the 12th which shouldn't overlap, and then there was some conference the 13th - 15th. But is it really possible for one convention to take up the ENTIRE resort? I mean, there is no availability in ANY category, I called the reservations line to check to make sure it wasn't a glitch and she said there was no availability on her end either. I'm not set on CSR, I was just looking for some options in case they offer free dining during this week again, because it seems like they are including less and less moderates. I was just so surprised to see nothing available for these dates, considering how far in advance I'm looking! It's not like I'm looking for last minute reservations. Is it a possibility some of these rooms could be released at a later time?

Disney does not, as a practice, hold rooms back to be released at a later date. It is possible that some rooms become available as the dates get closer if people cancel. And I agree that the conference most likely is not taking up the entire resort, but you add a large conference to the fact that the beginning of December is a very popular time in WDW and I can see there being zero availability. I read that when Disney released there last earnings report and had a town hall with investors they stated their resorts are consistently running at an 89% occupancy rate. That is unheard of in the hotel industry. If you are on the DIS on a regular basis you will see people book their vacations a year in advance and sometimes up to the 499 days the system will allow.

Okay, what you says makes sense. I was just thinking about a conference, I wasn't considering how many people already book their trips so far in advance! Many people are probably doing like what I was doing, and looking at a resort that is typically included during free dining in December, with so many other moderate resorts not included. I won't consider CSR an option then, I'll just wait to see what is available once any discounts are released.

Thanks for the link! Our Boardwalk stay was disappointing, and we have promised our ( only) child that when we tried another new resort we would do our best to be sure there would be other children to hang out with at the pool. This is never a problem at the AK...

Does every building have an elevator? With stroller I typically request bottom floor but if there are elevators I'm ok being higher.
Next question, how is the noise from neighbors above you? Another reason I usually request 1st floor is so I don't worry about waking anyone below us (4 kids). But if I can avoid making a floor request I will. TIA
