Blue fingernails are totally in ;) Sounds like a blast!! Glad you all are enjoying it :cheer2:

Wood Nymph, based on the likes of some young folks today, your blue nail polish will fit right in! :thumbsup2 :)

Thanks. My friend said to leave the blue polish on, so I did. But it is definitely coming off before I go to work on Friday. ;)

We went to Downtown Disney today via resort bus. Typhoon Lagoon is closed due to cold weather so we avoided that stop. The DTD bus shared with the GF and it only made those two stops. The bus went to GF before going to DTD and it stopped at WL first on the way back. The ride back was about 15 minutes long. The Poly and CR had their own bus.

But the DTD resort bus situation is crazy right now. The resort buses only stop at the Marketplace, not at the West End. I'm glad that I asked a CM about the buses before we headed all the way over there. And the bus depot is so small that all the buses get jammed in together. It is a little chaotic over there.

Hello this was tweeted by Orlando Park News.

Due to the upcoming refurbishment of the lobby of Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Whispering Canyon Café will temporarily offer breakfast at Artist Point on February 5 and February 12, 2015. During that time, diners can still enjoy the beloved atmospheric elements of Whispering Canyon Café, including ketchup relays and "pony express" races. The full breakfast menu will be served, with the exception of pancakes. Lunch and dinner services will not be affected.

Does anyone have any more information about this? We are arriving next week, and I'm wondering what kind of refurbishment might be going on in the lobby. Thanks!

It doesn't look like much as it seems to be only on two days and only in the morning during breakfast. The restaurant will be opened for lunch and dinner all days.

Someone mentioned it maybe as simply as that they will be cleaning the upper level lighting fixtures.

Other than that I can't seem to find out any additional info.

We went to Raglan Road this summer for the first time- it was sooo good! But we decided that due to all the construction walls being up, herding lots of rushing people into smaller spaces, and the bus stop craziness, we will wait until they are done with this transformation before going back. That may be moot anyhow, because I have no idea when we will be going back!
Glad you are enjoying your trip. I am looking forward to someday sharing WDW with a grandchild. Won't be for a while yet. Wedding first!
January is so unpredictable weather-wise. We used to visit my in-laws years ago and the worst trips were when it was cold or rainy the whole time we were there, and then sunny and beautiful on our ride to the airport to go home!

We've had fire alarm testing on Tuesday from 1 to 3pm, door lock maintenance scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday of this week, and the waterfall was turned off today while they worked on the south wing inner courtyard exterior. It was back on tonight. They seem to be busy around here making sure the Wilderness Lodge stays in good shape. :goodvibes

We are leaving tomorrow and it is supposed to be in the 70's. But at least we had sunny days. We had a cold and rainy January trip once and it was miserable. :(

I found out what is going on. When I walked out of our room this morning I saw that they were working in the lobby. They are replacing the rawhide on the four big lobby light fixtures with painted canvas. They are doing one light fixture at a time, on Thursdays, which is why Whispering Canyon Cafe will be closed those two days. The light fixtures are dusty and the work on those two fixtures would be close to the restaurant. The worker I talked to said that if I hang around I would see a lot more of the work today. I have some pictures that I'll post soon.

Walking into work this morning and looking up at the sky I thought to myself this would be a perfect Epcot day! As long as you have the correct jacket and I would probably wear gloves ;) - it would be very pleasant.

Enjoy your remaining time!!

Thanks for the info! I had heard they were going to do this but never asked when. :thumbsup2

The rehab of Whispering Canyon Cafe still appears on The Mouse For Less website. A TA posted here last month that the rehab had been canceled, but some websites are still showing it. If you can make a reservation, go ahead. Disney will contact you if they cancel your reservation, but I don't know how far in advance. Off to multi-quote now:teleport:

Whispering Canyon Cafe will undergo refurbishment from May 15 through June 26.

Trying a quick check in, on our 3rd night here at the lodge. Have been going, going and then dropping when we get back to the room. Also had interesting time with the room. Need handicap room, boyfriend is in wheelchair. Booked it months ago, called back to get friends and family discount, which was appled wrong. Had to call back to switch, and all this seemingly went fine. I last called on the 11th. On the 13, they cancelled the reservation and rebooked and oops, took off the handicap need. Mind you when I called, they said the room was already assigned. I had done online check in, so went up thinking it would all go quickly. Well, it still took 10-15 min to check in. Went to room and it was 2 queens and normal bath. Lovely view, was 4055 or something. Walked right back to check in, and they had few handicap rooms. We ended up in 1135, which requires you to go down a hall of rooms, around 2 corners and down the elevator. That part sucks. Also, the view is of a bush, and kinda some of the pool, but also some of the lovely lodge. The good part is that it's super easy to get to Roaring Forks---out the door and across. Easy in from the boat that we took back last night. Also found the stairs door hides the door out to the path which goes to the bus. So good and bad, but we are loving the lodge. It does just feel like home.
Oh, and yes, H2O still in use, but Ii don't want to get out of bed to check the scent. I think it's a citrus. :rolleyes1:
Thanks for checking in with us and you must be really close to the laundry, too;)

OMG those clocks! Last time we were at Disney we arrived the day of or day after the time change. Our clock was an hour off and I studied that thing but could not figure it out! The next morning (we are late sleepers) we get up and I'm thinking we're up so early - wow, we'll actually get to the parks before the crowds. Nope! I go to my cell phone and realize the time on the clock is now right! lol
We once had the same issue when it didn't adjust for DST. You need a small screwdriver to take off a cover on the bottom of the clock where you can adjust the time:sad2:

We just booked our first trip to WDW at WL CL in October! We're so excited to escape Oregon in the fall and finally get to WDW!! I'm so appreciative of this thread; it cemented our decision to stay here.
Welcome to the thread and congratulations on booking the OFC! I think you're going to love WL-CL and October is a great time of year to experience it.

Waiting in the airport for our flight home :(
Disneymoon ended up being great! Will report more when I get home and can upload some photos :)
On a bright note, my DH is now a Disney convert, at least when it comes to WL...we will probably be back in a couple of years (have to save up or win the lotto):goodvibes
Happy saving and/or winning and let us know when you're booked again. Looking forward to your photos.

8 PAGES IN!! :cool1:

LOVE LOVE LOVE the contributors here! Love the Live reports, the helpful posters, love the questions posed, just everything here! Makes me all the happier we chose WL for our June trip!

KOOK - blessings indeed! I can't believe I"m going to lose my tag  I hope I don't get lost in the shuffle, the only thing constant in this life is change! (WHO moved my cheese?! lol)

H2O prodcuts - I am so glad they still carry the H2O brand, can't wait to read what scent people have found!

Keep up the postings, so I can have a bit of Disney in my chaos - I "get away" when I read the updates,
You may not completely lose your tag. Tags now must "fit" within set space limitations and they won't be able to be animated, I believe. So I think I'm losing my scrolling tag and who know what else will be removed. They will have to manually edit them at some point which means the Tag Fairy will be working overtime:badpc:. We're also going to lose smilies for a while because those, too will have to be manually replaced.

Late thanking you, but we always appreciate your updates:thumbsup2

Sounds like a wonderful trip! :goodvibes The lovely WL certainly has the power to make converts: my DH is just an H (no love for Disney:confused3 ) but even HE liked the WL! :thumbsup2
I really like the bolded - too funny:rotfl:

April 21st, 2015 - Standard Club Level.

Wilderness Lodge, here weeeee come!!!!!! :cool1:
WOOHOO!! I'll log your dates:)

About 3 months til my sis and I go to the WL. :goodvibes Might upgrade to CL but right now we are booked in a woods view room.
DOITDOITDOIT!

They must be knocking out some of this testing in what must be a lower occupancy time? So have you booked your next trip?

Thanks for all of your updates and for posting some photos soon.

Not sure how I feel about the replacement of the rawhide which I assume is original? I read that rawhide is more susceptible to moisture than leather and when wet will soften unless waterproofed. I wonder if the shades got wet?

A little info. from the first page:

"While looking up towards the ceiling in the lobby of Disney's Wilderness Lodge, notice 4 massive teepee-shaped chandeliers suspended from solid Lodgepole Pine beams. Authentic rawhide, hand painted with geometric designs, stretches over the lights' structural framework. Each teepee chandelier, with its bronze and steel ring of silhouetted buffaloes and riders on horseback, weighs 600 pounds."

Is there any way to find out where the best Wooded Room Bunk bed rooms are?
Welcome to the thread!

Rooms with bunk beds are randomly scattered throughout the resort. If you've booked a Woods View Bunk, many like to request "North Wing/high floor." From these rooms, you can see some of Wishes.

Thank you so much! We have one woods view bunk room and one woods view regular booked and ideally would like them adjoining or at least close by. It sounds like this could be possible?

Also, what's the best way to request specific rooms? Via fax? I understand it's not guaranteed...

Are there any refurbishments announced for June 2015 other than the Whispering Canyon one? Thanks!

Faxing is no longer preferred. Call. Online checkin will not give you the option to list adjoining TMK.

Bunk and regular rooms do seem to be adjoining in some areas.

If you want to be next door (or as close together as possible) ask for "adjoining."

If you want to have the connecting door between your adjacent rooms, ask for "connecting."

It is often suggested that you list 2 or 3 requests in order of preference. So if adjoining or connecting is most important, ask for that first. Then add "North wing," "high floor" and the like.

Making fewer (or a less detailed) requests will increase your odds of getting what's most important to you.
