Since the OP of the other thread (who has not posted in almost a month) has indicated he is not on the DIS very often any longer and even you have not posted on that thread in almost 4 months, the decision was made to start afresh with someone who is interested and motivated to try to assist others in planning events for this cruise.

... and look, it's working since there are already 4 posts in this thread.

I have not looked at any excursions yet. My DGF said she would take care of them. The only thing that I absolutely want is to find some good conch

If anyone has visited Key West, and has some suggestions, I would welcome the advice.

Key West excursion (through the boat or on our own) input would be helpful as well. I can pass the info on.

We are booked with my parents and two boys for this cruise!!! Yay! We can't wait. This is our 3rd DCL cruise and my parents first. I just found this thread and wondered if anyone started the FE groups? Can't wait to meet you guys

Also, we've been to Key West 3 times. It's not our favorite place. Good to go at least once but we will probably just hang out on the ship this time. A lot revolves around walking around drinking. So when we are there with our kids it's not really all that fun. Also, I wouldn't pay for the aquarium excursion as it's very easy to go to when you get there. The aquarium is small and intimate. Things are pretty spread out and are a longer walk than you might realize. Many if the shops are the touristy variety you see at most ports. They have little open air taxis and I think you can even rent them for a few hours. Blue Heaven was one of our favorite places to eat. We've mainly had breakfast here because we always had cruises that got to port rather early. Check websites for restaurants hours because many of the restaurants keep weird hours and close on different days?

What is an FE?

Trooper - The easiest way to describe an FE is that it is similar to a secret Santa. But on a larger scale.
FE stands for fish extender. Basically, there is a hook outside your cabin door shaped like a fish. People participating in the FE will hang a fish extender on this hook. Then, during the cruise, they will take gifts they have prepared for the other participants around, placing them in the fish extenders outside the participating cabins. There are a wide variety of fish extenders, and an even wider range of ideas for gifts (from hand made crafts to disney souvenirs). You can get a good idea of both by doing a quick search for FE `s on the net.

That's crazy that's DIS is so strict now...I had no idea. I do not have conch suggestions!! I would go to trip-advisor for reviews of Key West. I will say NOT to get off the boat if it's raining in Key West! Our last trip it started to drizzle while we were there and then a steady rain started. About an hour later it was completely flooded and we got stuck there. Not cool. Apparently it's so low there that it can flood easily. The whole ship was delayed because they couldn't even get buses to get all of us for hours. It was crazy.

There is also a outdoor bar there called Monkey something...I think? If you are going sans kids they make some really good strong frozen drinks that you can walk around with. I say sans kids because the drinks are VERY strong. If you are going with kiddos just be warned as well that key West has some very colorful stores ;-) The first time we went without the kids it was no big deal but the second and third time we had to be careful because my oldest can read!! Some of the shirts and things at some stores may not be suitable for young eyes. Mainly if they can read from what I remember. As I stated earlier Key West mainly caters to the adult crowd. My kids did enjoy the Ripleys Believe it or Not Museum.

Finally, just an FYI!! If you are super allergic to cats as my husband and I are DONT DO THE HEMINGWAY tour! I wanted to until I read it's full of cats. Yikes! I'm super allergic to the point my eyes swell shut. I know there are a lot of people that have cat allergies so I always tell people that now. It would give me an instant sinus infection and ruin my trip. Ha!

What is an FE?

Cruise Meet threads are doing just fine still managing meet and FE discussions right here on the DIS as they have since FE began (also here on the DIS).

FE organizers generally need to know how many people (adults/children) are participating in each cabin with child ages for age appropriate gift giving. Other information you would like to share such as names, allergies, favorite characters, etc. is up to you. Other personal information is not really necessary. Those organizing FEs typically ask for the information to be posted in the meet thread or sent to them via PM. If no one comes forward to organize a FE for this cruise, perhaps someone can start that right in this thread.

We currently have 2 DIS board members.
Plus, there are 4 other cabins that have said they want to sign up, they just have not joined the DIS board yet.

I will add an FE list to the first thread, and keep it updated as we grow.

This will be the first cruise for my husband, son and myself. I've been reading up on stuff and I'm excited to do the FE and decorate our door. Past that I have no idea what we are going to do.
