AHA... so this is what the Mouse is planning!

It's starting to look like Disney is going to make a power move towards Universal. As it relates to the authenticity of the DC and Marvel brand, you can bet Disney is going to make sure all the universes are connected (with potential DC/ Marvel/ Star Wars cross-over type of stories)...well tended and profitable from the news stand and TV cable online and theaters amusement parks merchandising.

If this happens the options become limitless for Disney as it relates to the parks and hotel. We might Actually get a 5 gate out of this deal. There is a ton of money to be made and Disney would now be in control of comicbook market. This would undoubtable cut into Universal's market share and may even change the landscape altogether.

It would be really funny though. Imagine Disney having control over Marvel and Harry Potter, probably the two biggest properties in Universal Studios's theme parks.

The source of the article does nothing more than to list possible candidates that have the market cap to make such an investment. The true focus of the article is speculation on a Chinese businessman and reasons how he could acquire Time Warner.

Basically the article is nothing except someone exploring a 'what if' scenario.

I think Disney has already bought enough. This would be spreading themselves too thin and actually would make WDW an even smaller priority to the company than it is *now*.

The only *true* "crowds" are at the MK. They have three other parks that are almost never at capacity. They need to concentrate on investing in the existing parks before even contemplating a fifth gate. AK is going to be amazing...but it's taking FOREVER for it to materialize!

Agreed. While it's a possibility Disney could make the purchase, it sounds like they're talking about the money Disney has and that they could afford to make the purchase if they ever choose to do so.

I would also like to add, I also agree with OnSpaceshipEarth's comment in regards to constructing a 5th park.

Not gonna happen. Disney may buy an asset from Time Warner like CNN but that's about it. This whole thing started when Ruppert Murdoch of News Corp wanted to make a big splash while interest rates were low to purchase Time Warner. The problem (besides News Corp going into a grave yard of debt) is the culture of the two companies would no way mesh. If anything Time Warner is broken up they would be sold off in pieces while others kept and streamlined.
