5 more days till our stay in Hawaii! This used to be such a lively thread- funny what some construction can do! If this is representative of the amount of people who kept their resort bookings we may have the Poly to ourselves lol :)

Hi mystery Have seen you over on the GF thread too... :goodvibes Yes this thread has been awfully quiet...You just might have the Poly to yourselves!

We after many years of staying at the GF...are trying the Poly ( more likely than not a Poly/GF split...lol..) ..we have always enjoyed the dining and shopping...just never stayed there....I know what a time to pick to do that...lol....:upsidedow But we shall see....

Would love to hear your thoughts when you return from your trip...:thumbsup2 Looks like it will be in just a few more days!!! :dance3:

Blue - Sure thing!
I'll post my thoughts (prob check in from time to time during the trip) and pictures when I come back. While we know the Poly won't be as aesthetically pleasing as we are used to, here's to hoping that the rest of it is great as always! :)

We're arriving 7/28 and leaving 8/1. I guess the quiet (lack of people noise) could be nice. I've been trying to prepare my DS and DH for the construction, but I don't think they understand the extent. Oh well:(

Lol so I have! I was preparing everyone for the worst especially once the pool closes. But with lower expectations, I think this trip may turn out pretty good overall! Especially if the resort is half empty! :)

Does anybody know if Polynesian guests will have access to the pool at either the Grand Floridian or Contemporary while the Volcano pool is closed.

We are going to stay at the Polynesian for the Princess Half Marathon weekend. Just three nights, but I am so excited! I pulled up the park hours for the week we will be there and noticed that Blizzard Beach is scheduled for refurbishment. I wonder if we will get a pass to Typhoon Lagoon instead.

Morning Poly people!! Almost time :)

:beach:

dd and I just stayed there in May/June. We didn't mind the construction and a have lunch booked at Kona for 8/12.

When we stay at a monorail resort we really do consider it as staying at all of the them simultaneously. We eat, shop, explore them all.

I love to be on the boat from MK around 9-10pm and watch EWP from the water. With the beach mess that might work for you. It is so nice to watch then get off the boat and be "home" .

Hi Blue:wave2:

I haven't been on the DIS in quite a while and have just been catching up last night and this morning. We are doing a split stay between Poly and WL, so I was reading threads for both resorts.
I was surprised to see on the WL thread that their feature pool will be closed for refurbishment beginning in September. What has me steaming right now is that several guests that will be at WL during the refurbishment have posted that they received letters stating that they will receive a one day ticket to a water park PLUS they will be bussed to FW and CR to use their pools!
Would Disney really be that inconsistent with how they treat their guests?

Poly guest were/are given a one-day pass to Blizzard Beach, I read.

Sounds very nice. Like you we also enjoy visiting the other monorail resorts. I had joked in the GF thread that I may spend more time in that lobby than GCH during this time!

I'm confident... Well hopeful may be the better word, that staying in Hawaii will have close to the same relaxing feel it always did on prior stays :)

We were in Hawaii too. Amazing how a glass of "special" makes everything better.:goodvibes

Thanks so much!! :goodvibes I look foward to your live posts too.. I agree..we stopped by during our last Disney trip in June and weren't really bothered by the constructions walls at all...and while the lobby was so lovely before..as long as the restaurants and shops are open..and our room is nice we will be enjoying our trip...:cloud9:

I do have one concern though...I did read somewhere recently...probably here..that the paths and walk ways might be pretty torn up during the pool construction..making it difficult to navigate the the grounds.... That would be awful...

Lol so I have! I was preparing everyone for the worst especially once the pool closes. But with lower expectations, I think this trip may turn out pretty good overall! Especially if the resort is half empty! :)

:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I know that everyone is saying that this will not be an option..but during two recent calls to CRO..both times I was told..and I was not asking about the pool ..that the GF pools would be available to Poly guests???? I am sure others here on this board will be more informed...just sharing what I was told.... :confused3 Also..don't think that the CR will be an option for the simple reason that they are the alternate pool for the WL guests???

I am curious about this too????

I agree, this thread is always pretty lively, but I bet a lot of people have moved on to other resorts to avoid the construction/pool closure :(.

We will be there at the end of August, and by the sounds of this thread and a Facebook group I'm on, I think we will have the place to ourselves too!

I hope you have a great time :wizard:.

We'll be arriving on August 1st.

Have a great trip :).

Hi Blue :wave2:

You will love the Poly, it really is an amazing resort :goodvibes.

I'm sure you will have a great trip, even with the construction :flower3:.

That is a great attitude to have :thumbsup2.

You are correct that WL guests get a water park ticket, along with use of the FW and CR pools, which is not fair (IMO) to the Poly guests. We don't have a trip planned during all of the construction and pool closures, but I know I wouldn't be a happy Poly guest if I didn't have the option of going to another resort to use the pool while a different resort got that option during that pool closure.

Poly guest were/are given a one-day pass to Blizzard Beach, I read.

Yes, Poly guests are getting a 1 day water park ticket; however, they were first given access to the GF pools, but that was changed and is no longer the case. I think mtomlin66 is upset (which is valid, IMO) that WL guests have the choice of two resorts to go to for a feature pool, while Poly guests only get the water park ticket.

MickeyNut hello there my friend!!! I am counting on your strong recommendations over the years to be very acccurate!!! LOL..

I know that you are a Poly princess..thru and thru!! princess: ( although I know that you a GF gal too....;) )

Any suggestions on a request for 2 standard rooms for our Dec. trip? We have always stayed in Tahiti before and really like having a balcony. Thanks!

The Poly is amazing......you will love it ::yes:: :goodvibes.

Yes, I am both a Poly and GF gal :cutie: (that is, if it's possible to be both :rotfl::rotfl:).

We loved our stay in Samoa. There are no balconies on the 2nd floor so 3rd floor balcony would have to be a request if you wanted a balcony, but we loved the central location :).
