Why are Coronado Springs reviews so iffy?

Really? My experience at POR was great bus service at any part of the day. I was there for a week in early December two years ago.

We were over there two year ago for thanksgiving day and found out that the only way of making it to the parks earlier was skipping breakfast and waiting in the south depot stop. We were there for 10 nights and could not made a pattern of how the bus service works. I hope this September we have better luck since is slow season and the FDP was only offered with pins.

We really like CSR. The slide at the pool is really fun and we really enjoy the pool bar. We'll be staying there again with free dining in Sept. CSR had the best bus service the last time we were there. POR bus service was so crowded and the waits were so long, we ended up getting a taxi back to the resort, otherwise it's a really beautiful resort.

My trick on Trip Advisor: when somebody writes a bad review, I look at the number of reviews they made. If it's less than 5, I discard it completely.

Also, when a room is THAT bad, why don't you just go to the lobby and ask to switch rooms? We've done it.

I can't believe the people who complain but are doing nothing about it.

I remember reading a bad review of CSR the complaint was the lack of sodas machines in every floor. one star just because of that. Since we don't drink sodas we did not care.

That's funny because there are pop machines on every floor by the elevator.

One of the best features about CSR is that it has a lake side bar area which is nice at the end of the day to have a drink at. All the conventioneers were in the Rix bar when we were there, but the lake side bar was empty.
No other Mod I believe has that. They have a bar by the pool also, but once again it is subject to noise.

We are also a couple with no kids...and we enjoy the serenity of CSR as a whole

I'm sure you will have better luck in September. Thanksgiving is a really busy time everywhere in WDW, so I wouldn't expect great bus service anywhere. September is my favorite month to go to WDW as crowd levels are low-moderate. I anticipate that you have great bus service over at POR. From time to time they do share buses with POFQ. I didn't see much consistency to that though when we were there. Sometimes the bus was shared but more often than not they were running separate buses. I guess it depends on crowd levels and where the buses are going/coming from.

Who cares about a soda machine? I certainly do not. I pick up a case or a couple of sixers of good craft beer before we get to the resort to stock the fridge. That keeps me happy! I also buy water or soda to take to the parks, much cheaper than paying Disney prices when you get thirsty.

idk why folks don't like this resort so much. I mean I've been a couple of times and will be back in August this time as a Confernce goer. But each visit never had a issue iwth confernce folks and kids that where there seemed extra happy. Pool is the best and morning walks around the lake AWESOME. The bus service HANDS DOWN rocks.

Look up for the turtle. There is a huge turtle that likes to show up by The Laguna Bar. My son just love it.

CSR has been thought of by many as the deluxe of the moderates. When all is considered, I think CSR is the best of the moderates. Although, I think that depending on what one is looking for in a resort, another one of the moderates would be more suited.

That is what we thought. We normally travel in slow season so we are spoiled.

I do the same thing! September is really great with low crowd levels, good discounts, and its Food and Wine time!!

I've stayed in several resorts, from values through deluxes and CSR is by far least favorite. I think part of it is the sheer size of it. We were far enough away from the Dig site that we only went there once. Just walking back in the August heat afterwards made it less than pleasant. My son also loves arcades, but the arcade at CSR is by the Dig site which again we only went to once. We stayed in Casitas near the quiet pool, closer to El Centro, but even that seemed like a hike when we were coming back from the parks tired. I did love the styling of the resort and there was nothing bad about it, but everything just seemed extremely inconvenient.

It is so funny how everyone's experiences differ. We loved CSR. We stayed in the Cabanas section building 8 in August, and so far this is my favorite resort. Quiet, subtly themed, clean rooms, great pool, staff fantastic. We were ideally located so the walks to the pool/dig site and El Centro were minimal...5 mins maybe...but a beautiful walk it is. Never bumped into many conventioners during our stay and the few I did see were pleasant enough. I thought the buses were fantastic also. Wanted to go back this year but felt I needed to try the last moderate on our list...POR. I hope we like POR as much as we liked CSR....afraid of POR bus system, but it is what it is...hopefully no major bus issues..but still..rather be waiting for a Disney bus than sitting at work.

We haven't stayed at CSR in a non-business class room since it opened. For a little extra we enjoy a breakfast without having to work our way through crowds and enjoy light snacks/drinks before we leave for the night. It's close to the parking lot, bus stop, main building, and a short walk to the Dig Site. We haven't had a poor experience at CSR. I think it does depend on what convention(s) are there at the time. My friend who used to work there says that the mood of the resort really depends on what groups are there and how many of them there are but being in BC rooms takes away from some of that craziness I feel!

I don't know what your idea of a hike is, but it's a 3 minute walk from the Casitas quiet pool to El Centro. 5-7 min walk to the Digsite from there. There is a video on Buzz's CSR site where someone video taped walking from the far regions of Ranchos to El Centro. The farthest walk possible at CSR and it took 7 mins. You can clearly see in the video the person walks at a normal pace. I guarantee you it is as long or longer walk from the far reaches of most Deluxe resorts. It might seem shorter because you are in a hallway, but it isn't. Tough to do anything at WDW without walking for a few minutes. I don't know why people exagerate the walking distances at CSR so much.

While everything is spaced out quite a bit, I looked at that as a positive. Less people jammed in to one area. We had a water front view room, and a hammock about 25-30 yards from the front of my room right on the water. After a long day at the park, I'd lay in the hammock with a 6 pack and a nice cigar. I'm sure we will be going back at some point. One of my favorite Disney memories.

Do you feel this would be a non issue staying business class?

Most definitely a non issue in business class. The business class building is 9B. 9B is directly in between the main pool and the food court building and super close to both. You have a bus stop steps from your building. Now, where the other pp was located..... I can see how that would be a problem.
