Official 2013/2014 Disney Military Promotion

Just a FYI to everyone. I called disneyland today to make a change to my November reservation and the cast member advised me to hold off until next Monday or the 1st because there will be a 40% off discount for military members. Take this with a grain of salt but he did have me hold to check if there was a better discount for me then came back with this info.

Should we start to worry that this offer isn't going to be renewed? This was the Monday it was announced last year. And every year up until this year it has been renewed earlier that the year before.

I spoke to a cm this past Wed - my balance is due end of Aug for my Oct trip. She said to call back at the beginning of Aug when "the offer will have been extended by then." I know it's not a guarantee but she didn't give me any reason to think it won't be extended. Fingers crossed!

I feel like the food and wine special event info came out earlier last year too, and that was just announced and goes on sale the 31st...maybe the military promotion will be announced on the 31st also

Just booked with the discount. They had no garden rooms in the contemporary under the military discount. I booked a tower room and am trying to decide if I should switch to another resort or keep it.

ETA: KEEPING the reservations and the more I think about it, the more thrilled I become! We wanted the tower in the first place, but thought we should save the money. It was only 300 more and definitely doable. Looking at the non discounted rate, it's an unbelievable deal! Yay!

If we have already made reservations, can I call and update this to reflect the discount? And can I change it later to free.dining instead of the discount, if the date is eligible for fd? We haven't done the calculations on which is better yet, but I want to.make sure we at.least get the discount for the room (and not have our resort run out of discount.rooms before we can decide)

Yes and no…

Oct and Nov have very limited availability for both the discount and general public rooms. Many have been unable to convert to the salute today.

Later in the year should be no problem.

Good to know.. I'm on the phone trying with Disney..we will see how it goes
