Split stays and luggage moving

Hello!

DH and I usually travel with just a backpack and it's never been a problem so far. Except that this time, since we are staying a bit longer, we might have to bring bigger carry-ons/non-backpacks with us.

Is there a way to get our luggage sent to the 2nd resort to avoid having to pay for a cab? (between AoA and CBR)

Thanks in advance.

Yes .... Just take your luggage down to bell services and tell them that you are changing resorts and they will move it for you. Please note: luggage transfers don't usually happen until around 3:00pm.

Agreed with what above poster said. We've done it that way before and it was nice because we could just get up and go to a park like normal (leaving our luggage with bell services on the way out...) and then just head back to a different resort later on.

This last trip (a couple weeks ago), we started out at BC and decided to take a taxi over to Poly with all our luggage. That was nice too because we arrived at our 2nd resort with all our stuff, checked in, and got somewhat unpacked before heading to a park. It was $14 + tip, fyi.

This is the way we've done it the past couple of years.

If we could avoid the cab, we would appreciate it. We'll try for the Bell Service.

Thank you very much for the info! :)

We may do a split stay too so let me ask a question about this... You say you gave your luggage to bell services to bring to your other resort. But dont you have to check in at the other resort too? Do they let you use the same Key to the World or Magic Band for the new resort?

We usually just stay at one resort, we take Magical Express so our luggage just shows up in the room at some point. Will the bell services at the new resort hold the luggage until they know your new room number?

I actually did the online check-in for both resorts, giving each resort our approximate time of arrival, and letting the 1st resort know we would be switching to the 2nd resort on our check-out day. I confirm all of this at check-in of the 1st resort. On check-out day of the 1st resort, we either call Bell Services to come get our luggage or else we bring our luggage down to them. They make note of where to deliver the luggage. Finally, yes, you'd need to check-in at your 2nd resort. Our luggage is normally delivered to the 2nd resort around 3:00ish or so and it's stored for us until we call to ask for it.

You can use the same magic band for both resorts. We only brought one each and wore it the whole trip.

Enjoy! Disney makes switching resorts effortless.

Thank you for your help. We booked a package with resort, tickets, and dining; but I can only get a flight later in the day and I hate losing a full day at Disney, we usually arrive at the resort by 10am. So I'm considering flying in a day early and staying at a value resort for the one night.

Now that you make it sound so easy, I think you helped me make my decision!!!! :cool1:

You will have to call to have your luggage delivered, they won't deliver it without you there at the second resort.

On the morning of the second part of the split stay, I was told it was important to check in on line and indicate a number which can be texted or phoned while you are in the parks. I was told that you indicate on line the approximate check in time for both stays of the split stay. On the morning of the second part of the split stay, bell services take luggage and transfers.

I was told that it was NOT NECESSARY to physically go to the second resort location in the morning, that you could just go to the parks. You will receive either a text or phone call when the room is ready. You then go back to the second resort to check in and request bell services to send up luggage.

Just concerned:confused3 that dining plan will be properly on first set of magic bands for the second stay??? Would not want to get to parks and find out that dining plan somehow can't be accessed??????:confused3

We used bell services a few times during our wedding trip. It worked perfectly but I would make sure you write down everything you give them. Once when they brought our belongings up they did NOT bring my wedding dress even though it was checked with them. Even though it was after the wedding I still had a small freak out (I wouldn't give it to them before the wedding for this reason).

jerseygal: On some of our split stays, we didn't go to the 2nd resort to check-in until later in the day when we were done at a park. It worked just fine. And yes, we have always had to call Bell Services to bring up our luggage once we were checked in. In our case, our luggage normally didn't get to the 2nd resort until late afternoon, but I'm sure times could vary.

We did not do the dining plan, but I'm assuming your magic bands would have all the info generated from MDE and you should be fine -- maybe someone else can chime in who has done a split stay with dining plan.
