>> Using Pools at Other Resorts - FAQ and Questions Thread (No Debate) <<

Some time ago there was discussion on the boards here that they would be closing the pools when no lifeguard was on duty and not allow guests to use them at their own risk. This was due to a young girl drowning after pool hours when her parents were with her. Does anyone know if this has become true or not? We are staying at AKK Feb 17 - Mar 1 and we like to go swimming and hot tubbing after the parks. So we are usually in the pool around 11 - midnight. Just curious if anyone has stayed recently and knows the answer to this. Thanks! :)

Reports from recent stays have been that the feature pools and hot tubs close at 11PM. Quiet pools are open 24 hours.

I didn't read the whole thread, so I apologize if this has been answered. What about pool hopping to gain an extra adult? I have 4 young kids who will want to swim, but I feel that DH and I need at least one other adult to make this safe. We have. Family staying at a very close neighboring resort. I know I can ask the lifeguard, and I will, but has anyone done this and had luck? Our escort has a popular pool, so I'm not sure if that plays into it at all.

As you say, ask at the time. But I don't see that as a viable reason. You need to figure that out when you are deciding where to stay. I guess I don't see why 2 adults can't each watch 2 kids. Make them swim in the same general vicinity, or even make them buddy swim where they have to be within arms length of each other. Having many kids is not a reason to expect to be able to pool hop.

This is a strange sort of question but, here goes. We will be in Disney in July for the US Open Karate Championships. One of my kids will be staying at CSR with his team, the rest of the family will be at Sports. Is there any chance that we will be able to share some swim time at either resort with the whole family?

Glad you asked, same here, we will have family at pop and CSR.

BTW: Pool hopping between Pop Century and Art of Animation is not allowed (we asked). We thought it might be because they are beside each other (there is a walkway between) and they are both value resorts.

Definitely not. You actually cannot get into the pools at AOA without your MB, you have to scan it for entrance. It sucks since the pools look like so much fun.

I recently saw a video where someone had to use their Magic Band to get into the pool area. Is that standard at all pool areas now?

I have a question. My son is going to do the pirate adventure leaving from the Grand Floridian, but that's not where we're staying. I was looking at things to do in the area while he's on the cruise and was wondering if (1) I could hang out at the beach (it is non-swimming after all), and (2) can we use the playground? When I search fro GF playgrounds, there seems to be an Alice in Wonderland themed water playground, but I can't find any others there (I'm sure there are, but I can't find any.)

My SIL is a DVC member- we are staying at Saratoga Springs. I am officially on her ressie and am linked on my MDE to that ressie.

Can I 'pool hop' on my own without dragging my SIL along with or does the owner HAVE to be with.

The owner has to be there.

We stated at movies in the Mighty dicks. The quiet pools had signs up that it was closed when we came back from the parks.

not responding to anyone in particular.

if the pools are crowded at AOA, and those guests decide to stroll over to pop to use those pools, it is not fair at all to the pop century guests, who do not have the option of "either/or".

now I personally think they should have been"sister resorts" all along. (like the POR resorts, or the All Star resorts.) but they aren't . It costs more to stay at the AOA suites and a bit more at the LM standard rooms, so they have exclusive rights to that pool.

therefore, the same should apply in reverse. and it does.

if I am staying at pop and I overhear that guests at a coveted table with an umbrella are staying at AOA, you better believe I will be letting the lifeguards know.

it is rude to take tables and loungers at a resort at which you are not paying to stay.

I apologize in advance because I'm not a huge WDW buff. But don't the pools have check ins where you can't get past the gate without zapping your Magic Band or something? What is to stop people from getting in the pools?

Also, we will be doing the pirate adventure at GF but staying at a different resort. I see on WDW's site that GF has a kids wet playground and assume that's GF visitors only. Do they have any other playgrounds? Or is it all right to use that wet play area? (As in, does it count as "pool area") Thanks!

Staying in AKL's Jambo using DVC points. Am I allowed to use Kidani's pool? I searched this thread and it's giving me conflicting information. TIA.

Kidani Village and Jambo House are all AKL/AKV. It's one resort. You can use either pool.
