Disney's Magical Express -- Luggage Tag Info

Are you supposed to get 1 tag per person or 2? I was thinking 2, so when I called and she asked if I needed extra, I said no. Just as we were finishing up, she said we get one each and I didn't think to question it.

You can call ME directly and tell them you need more. We wanted 2 per person, and they only sent one. I called and they sent more without question. Very easily done and I had them 7 days later.

Hello all! I apologize in advance if this has been asked a million times. I can't find the answer.

I've received two sets of tags in the mail. One says "DVC - AK Villas Kidani" and AK1-1. The other says "DVC HOLD - AK Villas Kidani and they say AK1-2 and AK2-2.

The first was just one tag, the tag in my name, the bar code ending with 3114. The second set is two, because I added a friend to the reservation. She is driving in, not flying. The second set has two with two different names. The one with my name ends with 3110 and the one with my friends name ends with 3114.

What does the hold part mean? Which tags do I put on my bag? Does the number / name matter since they would both be heading to the same room? It turns out I am going to be checking two bags but don't have time to order new tags. Am I safe using two of these?

Thanks!

Hey.
Because Disney do not ship luggage tags (the yellow bands) outside the U.S, can we still just "jump" on the MAG-Xpress,and get the luggage transported to our room by Disney.
aka:we dont pick up our luggage at all at MCO.
We will arrive on a domestic flight UA from EWR.

Your bags will not be taken to the resort without the tags on them. (Unless you get them yourself and bring them to the bus.)

You can give your luggage claim tickets to the ME desk and they will get them to you. We changed our reservation a week before our trip and the reservation number was changed. They told me to give the claim tickets and my bags would be claimed by Disney. No problem at all!

Just off the phone with Disney Magical Express - we needed a couple of extra tags for an upcoming trip (but alas we have waiting too late to request them) and gotta say, it was a decidedly less than magical experience.

First off, apologies to my wife as she called a few weeks back to get tags for some other folks traveling with us and I was giving her heck for not wanting to call back to get extra tags for us. She said she wasn't going to call back after fighting with them to get the first set of extra tags sent out to the folks who were traveling with us.

I didn't believe her and took it upon myself to call them.

And yep - kinda rude. I asked what option were and the guy answering the phone told me I could either pick up my luggage myself or hand the magic express folks our claim tickets.

Told him I wasn't too keen on the claim ticket approach given that we were only going to be at Disney resort for a night before heading off to Disney cruise the next day - if something happened we wouldn't have time to sort it out.

He was less than pleasant in quickly telling me that this is why I have the option to not use the service.

Politely asked him if there wasn't any way to get tags and he replied no. It couldn't be done because they use a 3rd party service. Told him that doesn't make sense. He said they need 3 days to print the tags. To which I said, "oh - ok, so the reason I can't get tags is it's just too late. I get that. But it's not because it's a 3rd party service, right"

He said - no, even with more time he wouldn't be able to send tags out because it is a 3rd party service.

So now I'm flummoxed at the concept that you cannot get extra baggage tags regardless of timing because they use a 3rd party service.

Sigh - told him thanks and moving on, but gotta say I'm disappointed in their customer service.

Oh - and we're just gonna collect the two d*mN bags we don't have tags for and take 'em on the bus ourselves....

Serenity now....

Yes, good point. The equivalent of claiming them at baggage claim but having Disney do that at the airport. Wasn't thinking of that. I was mainly trying to make it clear that the bags wouldn't magically make their way to the resort without tags.

Thanks for the great info.
We do have to goto the MCO MExpress info desk regardless, because they do not ship magic bands to us.bcause were outside if U.S.
So i guess we just give them out luggage check in tags there, and everything will be shipped to the room.

But you don't have to pick up anything. Just follow the instructions in the post right above yours. Question: which number did you (each) call?

Last year in February, we needed two extra tags for our luggage. I just used a colour photo copier to copy the ones I had and taped them up onto the luggage. I cut them out and attached them with clear packing tape onto the handle of the luggage the same as the real ones attach. All the bags were brought to our room together, no issues.

DME needs at least 10 days to get something printed up and sent to you....whether its the entire packet, or just addtl tags. If you need addtl tags, do not leave it until just before your trip.

Also, if I were foing for just one night, I doubt I would have DME take care of my bags. I would rather spend an addtl 15 or so minutes at baggage claim, and take the bags with name, to the bus.

I arrive on August 19. I gave my information to Magical express on June 24. When should I get my luggage tags?

Anytime now. Some have been getting their packets 5-6 weeks prior to travel, others have gotten theirs a few weeks prior.

I emailed them my flight information on 6/30, got a confirmation email on 7/2 and received my tags and booklet 7/11. My trip isn't until October so I was surprised to get it so soon.

I noticed a lot of people saying that they were getting theirs so far in advance. I didn't actually give them my information. I booked through AAA. They said they gave my flight info. I'm going to make sure, myself.

Spoke with MS this morning and booked DME. Just decided to check a bag and don't have luggage tags. MS said I can still have Disney pick up my bag and deliver it to my resort it just may take a little longer. I just need to present my claim tag to a CM at the welcome center. My question is, will I get my luggage the same day? (we arrive around 330 pm) or does " a little longer" mean it may arrive the next day? Has anyone had experience with this?
Thanks,
Tina

Sorry if this has been asked & answered before ( I reviewed the first Q&A on this thread, and this wasn't there). I just switched resorts today for a trip on 08/21.. I already have my ME yellow tags. Do I need to call & get new tags for the new resort or are they already linked to my resort reservation? No airline info changed.
Thanks!

***UPDATE: Just thought I'd update in case anyone is wondering in the future. I called ME, and they said I should automatically get a new voucher booklet & luggage tags, but when she looked up my reservation it was still showing the old resort. So she updated it, and is sending out the new voucher & tags. Glad I called.
