Sue M - hope to see you too!

My picture is in all the pictures from our Dis Meets, so if you see me at the GF please stop and say hello.

What bldg did you request - we requested Conch Key. We've had everything at the GF from gv to RPC. This year we have a gv room booked - wish us luck!

HAPPY 4Th OF JULY TO ALL MY BC/YC FRIENDS!!!11

Happy 4th July.

Loving sitting on our balcony listening to the party on the boardwalk.

Unfortunately we are needing to move rooms tomorrow as part of our carpet is soaked through, not dried out after hours of them having some big dryer machine in the room, some issue with the air con?? The CM dealing with us has been great and we are moving to another third floor water view tomorrow ( could have had first floor tonight but we didn't fancy that). Not impressed at packing up 18 days worth of stuff again but on the plus side we have another 11 nights still here.

Oh no!!! I leave for Jeanne's on 8/19 and won't be back to work until 8/31. I only work Sundays and Mondays. If you are over in the Epcot area 8/17 or 8/18, I hope you will stop by the BC lobby so I can trade pins with Winston!!!! I'm really sorry I'm going to miss you while you are at the Y&B!

I am definitely glad that you get to spend time with Jeanne and Lilly but we sure will miss you while staying at YC. However, I will definitely stop by on 8/18 since it is our Epcot day. Winston has been talking about you every time he looks at his pin board. :thumbsup2

That's the date of our Y&B Dis Meet too ... 6:30 in the Solarium. We'd love you to join us.

Tell Winston I'll be waiting for him.

I have not been on this thread for a couple of years, and I must say, I am very disappointed.....

.... to find out that I am going to miss Ninja Mom by a matter of days on our upcoming trip to the beach club. I love your posts! (I would have held the inner tube for you in the pool)

Happy Saturday

Quick report on milk in the Marketplace . The only have skin, 1% and whole milk . NO specialty milks

3. Does anyone have any advice for staying in a group like this?

We're doing a family reunion in 24 days :) My family of 5, my brother in law's family of 4 (his kids are both adults), and my sister in law and her husband.

And, just to make it interesting, we'll be at the YC, and they'll be at Caribbean Beach.

We booked one ADR per day together, and a clump of FP's together, usually in late afternoon. (Sometimes the more daring will, say go on Big Thunder and the less daring on Small World, but we're still basically together.) We have ADRs for the Dessert Party (our Christmas gift to the rest) and will do evenings together after dinner.

Beyond that, though, we're not committing to all 11 of us doing the same thing at the same time. We're rope drop people; I imagine my 20 something nieces are not.

Leaving bright and early for our grown up birthday trip! Dropped the kids off at camp this afternoon & they both wished us a happy trip. :)

I have enjoyed this thread so much...now I can't wait to experience all I've read about!

Jennifer

We are home from our trip and I wanted to come back to say how much we LOVED YC! My DH and I agree it will be our new "home" resort for future trips to WDW. We loved the proximity to Epcot and DHS, we thought SAB was awesome, and we enjoyed the atmosphere at the resort in general.

We booked GV and were upgraded to Lagoon View in a corner room. We also had a King Bed. The only request I made was "high floor," so the Boardwalk view and the corner room were both nice!

I wanted to mention that we did online check in, but our room was not ready when we checked in. We decided to check out the Boardwalk while we waited. We had lunch and then took the boat from Epcot to DHS and back. On our way back from DHS, we got a text with our room number. Total wait time: 2 hours. Our luggage arrived in the room about 10 minutes after we did, which was great because we were soaked from getting caught in a thunderstorm!

We ordered room service for breakfast one morning and that experience was just magical. On another morning we ate at Captain's Grille and enjoyed it as well. We had lunch at the Boardwalk Bakery (yum!) on our arrival day and ice cream at Beaches and Cream after Epcot fireworks. I do wish there was another quick service dining option...but that is a small concern compared to the many benefits of the resort.

This was the first trip in several that we have not rented a car and I can say we did not miss it! I am usually not a fan of bus transportation, but I was so impressed with the YC/BC busses! The longest we waited was 15 minutes for a bus to MK in the morning. We did 4 parks in one day (always wanted to see if it could be done...and it can!), relying totally on busses. Disney transportation gets an A+ from me on this trip!

I am currently unemployed for the next school year (I'm a teacher), so we are unsure when we will be able to plan another trip to the World. But when we do make those plans, we will be staying at the Yacht Club!

Thanks again for all the great tips on this thread. If I can answer any questions, I am glad to do so!

Jennifer

Thanks! I was concerned that the buses would be a bit of a nightmare as I have a couple of breakfast reservations at MK

You will love the BC. When I have stayed there (YC), the bus stopped at the YC and then the BC and then went on to MK or AK. The only time the bus was a nightmare was to DTD (which we took a cab for). We were booked at the WL to try it this Sept. However, with the pool closure and all, we decided to switch to the YC (which I love). Hope you have a good trip!

Thank you for your kind words! I am sorry to report that JanetMom has signed up for this duty... she just doesn't know it yet. :thumbsup2

I'd love to meet you as well and I'd love to hang around the resort perpetually like my friend Buzzy the Fly but my probation officer said no leaving the state until my term is up and that won't be for quite the while. Who knew that removing the tag from a mattress was such a heinous crime? :confused3

I have even more exciting news as I have applied to the patent office for registration on my invention of a pool tube with training wheels...

At first I thought that using wheels instead of those big honking stabilizers that they use on cruise ships would be a mistake... but the wheels are proving handy in the one inch of water that I have to practice in when I am floating on the streets of the 'hood. The wheels make me so much faster!I can almost out run those neighborhood thugs when they try to push me down the storm drain. :cool1:

My big dream is to one day make it to the Home Shopping Network where I can market my invention on TV. I plan on wearing my pink sparkly body suit with my rainbow leg warmers so I can show off my buns of steel and drive up interest in reviving the best of the 80's, both in fashions and fitness. Who knows... maybe I will even get a few more people (besides myself) to sign up for my over 50 women's Gymnastic Team! :thumbsup2

As soon as I saw Rileygirl was praising you I knew there would be trouble, I just didn't know it would come my way.

When I read that last sentence I can't tell if you are looking for a gymnastic team for aging women, or just one with a lot of women in the class at the same time.

Wow you really lucked out on the bus because we were there for a week checked out Thursday and the MK bus was terrible, half hour wait to get to the park every afternoon, one day was 40 minutes. So ridiculous.

I bought my husband the "beach club" candle from etsy that smells like the lobby, for his birthday. Even thought it's not until 7/15 we couldn't resist and gave it to him yesterday. He loves it and it really does smell like the lobby. That's his favorite smell. We also got the rainkissed leaves soap from bath and body works and that also smells like the lobby. These were both from info we got on this thread. So thank you all!!!

Can you tell me your room number? I would like to get a corner room and requested it for our stay in 12 days, but I don't know if there are many corner rooms in CL

Also, I wanted to mention, there is a girl who works in Captian's Grill named Meghan.. She was a former princess ( Giselle in the parade, aurora, Cinderella) she is the sweetest person and if you have kids, she is fantastic for interaction with them... I make a point to see her (she works weekends) so I thought I would pass that on.

45 days away from our beloved BC as of today!!

For me the last 45 days are always the hardest. Trip is paid, airfare is purchased, ADR's are made and FP+ resies are done. Nothing else major to do but wait it out and buy some new clothes. Thank God for the DIS and all of you, or I would go crazy waiting it out!!

The more we stay at the BC the more I realize that it's the wonderful people who we interact with that make the trips amazing. It's not the rides or the resort, it's interacting with Teena (at the very tippidy top of my ultimate friends list) Lauren, Rocky, Hyacinth, Vilma, Genesis and others each trip. If it wasn't for those amazing people it would just feel like a beautiful resort that was no different from others we have stayed at. There is no better feeling then running into those folks on your trip and catching up like old friends do.

I hope everyone has the opportunity to interact with those great people on their vacation. Thankfully, we are super lucky to have Teena with us via the DIS all year, for those times when we aren't lucky enough to be at our favorite place in the world!

Ok, I will stop rambling now :rotfl:
