Hijinks & Shenanigans but not much Mayhem@The Dark Side+Disney:Link to DL/Hawaii TR

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:Dont you just hate Karma!!!!!!!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I would have totally done the same thing :lmao:
Snacks look great and photos of you and the billboard guy (his name escapes me atm) made me smile :thumbsup2

You have no idea how jealous I am of your ability to check in your luggage at the resort -makes for a very relaxing last day :goodvibes Really wish we could do that!

Bit weird with the CM interaction on the GMR  Glad I missed that :confused3

Dee - No! It can't be....it's your last day! Although, seems you made the best of it.

I don't think you really were line cutting, I think you were taking into account the extra number of minutes many of us have had to wait due to the tour groups in the past! Sure hoping they are not there end of August.

You must be getting excited for your upcoming DL / Hawaii trip!

Rebecca

:rotfl2: Taking a selfie with Bo! Gotta love that! :rotfl2: And even better that someone offered to take your picture for you. :thumbsup2 Rock on random stranger!

I thought for sure you were going to say that the BTG ended up right behind you on RnR. Dodged that bullet. Phew! Glad that Ben liked that ride.

Two rides on TSM is always a good thing. Love it!

Ewww to the CM who was talking about passing the hat around to get out of her parent's house. That's just weird.

Lunch? Hmmmm - my guess is Via but only cause I just wrote about it and I love that place. :rotfl2:

Dee-
Sorry your trip is coming to an end. I have never had to deal with the BTG, but I endorse your work around ;)

I hope you are planning a TR form this summer's adventure. We are planning a similar trip next summer. I have a conference that will be at the Grand Californian at the end of June (have to love that the boss will be paying for the room and my airfare and that the conference ends at noon each day )
After 4 days at Disneyland, we are planning to take the kids to Hawaii for 1 week to celebrate our 20th anniversary. I am excited to actually be there for our anniversary. I am trying to decide if we split the week between Oahu and Maui or just stay on Oahu. I am leaning toward the split.
Pam

Well, since the trip was almost a year ago, I have finally gotten over it ending!

;)

Thanks for understanding about my Disney transgression!

I love how we have had such similar trip plans all these years!

I am most definitely planning to write about my adventures in California and Hawaii! Your trip sounds wonderful! How great that your stay at Disneyland and your airfare will be on the company's dime. And that you get to play at the parks after lunch!

We will be in Hawaii during our anniversary (28 years), too. We will be in Oahu. We are doing a 4 night Oahu/4 night Maui split, plus 1 night on the Big Island for our "Immersed in Volcanoes" day.

:beach:

No escaping Karma!

I like the snack pictures too and I think these are the first pictures I have with Bo the Billboard Guy.

I sometimes wonder where some of the names you see on the DIS come from: Betty the Yeti on EE, "The Ditch"- the tequila place in EPCOT's Mexico- are they real Disney names or just inside jokes created by fellow posters? But Bo's name is no mystery (check the name tag on his uniform) ;)

I can't lie- Disney's luggage handling service is great! Maybe on your next trip, if you fly into Boston on your way home, visit with a friend, and then fly back home, you can test out the service... Just a thought! :)

The CM at GMR was really ODD!

:sad2:

Yes, last day, but as I mentioned above, the passage of almost a year and my upcoming summer travel plans have really helped take the sting out of that!

:rotfl2:

I don't call it line-cutting- I call it "queue-efficiency". I made the wait-time of 4 people SIGNIFICANTLY shorter by only very slightly (1 car) impacting the wait-time of 40 people. No brainer!

:thumbsup2

I really stink at selfies! I rarely do them, and when I do it is with my camera not my cell phone. My cellphone takes really crappy pictures, plus I keep forgetting that my phone is a camera. Can't tell you the number of times I have said to Mark "I wish I had a camera right now" and he just looks at me.

I would have rather had the BTG behind us on RNR than the 30 plus extra minutes we spent in the RNR queue because they all had FP they were using at the same time.

:furious:

Can't wait to get Ben on RNR again!

Two rides on TSM in a morning are awesome! 4 rides by noon is even better! We did that the year you could get FP by volunteering. We did one ride standby, one regular FP and two of the volunteer FP.

:yay:

The only good thing about the delay in the GMR was that we were in the very last row so we could laugh and make fun of the tour guide without her seeing us. Plus, if she actually did take off her hat and pass it around, it would take a while to get to us.

:lmao:

Good lunch guess, but I have never been to Via (still).

First off, boo to it being your last day!

Dee, Dee, Dee, what are we going to do about you sneaking in between the "civilians" and the tour group? How 'bout? :cheer2: Nice move! Sounds just like something that I would have done.

I agree with you on the queue at RNRC. They could vamp up the outside at least a little bit by putting some posters up or something. Oh and fans to keep you a little cooler.

I'm playing catch up again!

I do not feel that you were cutting at all. They left a gap and obviously were not paying attention. And I'd much rather be in front of those groups than behind them. ;) We were fortunate last month and did not see any tour groups.

Sorry you didn't get on TOT (my favorite), but glad everyone seemed to enjoy Rock & Roll.

The snacks look yummy (especially the Mickey bar).

Oooh....that CM sounds awful during your delay on the Great Movie Ride.

Oops, I got behind on this report.

The desserts looked amazing! Too bad about the weather but you seemed to make the most of it.

Karma seemed a bit mean to you, but I guess you gave her the opening. Love both ends of that story. It seems like your family knows how to make the most out of a vacation and squeezed every bit of fun that you could out of the last day.

I am so far behind. To much to comment on. I love all your stories. I will say that I can't stand the BTG, but my DS17 (OMG I can't believe he's 17. I think that's the first time I wrote his age since his b-day) doesn't mind them at all ;) LOL.
We hung out by the pool today and ran some errands to Target and Walmart. I did some vacuuming and cleaning today- the price you pay for owning your own place :(
I'm even cooking dinner tonight EEK!!!!

Before I proceed, I am going to have to ask a couple of you to step away from the trip report until the next update. I’m about to do a little bit of Disney blaspheming. Brenda, Rob, perhaps a couple of others: you may not want to see this dark side of my family. I’m going to blame it on the rain.

I don’t have any pictures of our experience, but I do want to admit to some Hijinks and Shenanigans in the rotating theatre which we were sharing with 3 other people. There may have been some comments from the boys about their cell phones (“Check out THIS progress”) and I have to say that none of us were able to suspend our disbelief as Rover the wonder dog aged to like 560 in dog years!

No judgment from me on this one!! :lmao: I love the fact that your family cut loose with some hijinks and shenanigans - even on Walt's most serious attraction! :thumbsup2 Did you sing along at all? By that third go round it's almost impossible to stop me!

Everything was going along smoothly until we got to Alien scene. The trams all stopped. Our tour guide was terrible with the impromptu delay. She started talking about how she had no money, her parents were going to kick her out of the house and that she was going to send around a hat to collect money so she could get an apartment. She kept repeating this story again and again during the lengthy delay. It was painfully uncomfortable. I don’t know if she was “in character” or if she was actually trying to extort money, but it was really BAD!

Oh my! So awkward. Perhaps she could have talked about movies or played "I spy" :rolleyes2

Then a man walking by saw what I was doing and asked if I would like him to take my picture.

Why yes!

I'm glad to see Bo getting some love from a worthy Diser!! You get the Bo thing!

I'm glad to be caught up... although your Wishes dessert party has me wanting some cannoli. What a great way to watch Wishes. It has been a couple years since we've done that but I love that you get both Wishes and Celebrate the Magic in one event.

Let's not think of it as the end of this trip, but that it is that much closer to the next one!

I had a split-second to make my move. No time to wrestle with moral dilemmas!

There may be many fans of Aerosmith in that line but there are not nearly enough Aerosmith fans.

:goodvibes

Oooh....that CM sounds awful during your delay on the Great Movie Ride.

I know all about playing catch-up: story of my life!

I don't know if you watch Survivor, but like in the game, it was just a strategic move. The players say that since it is a game, social decorum does not apply. I'm going with that. Not cutting. Strategic move.

I love ToT, too. We did get a chance to go on earlier in the week but it seems like Ben is good for about one ride per trip.

Oh, I do love a Mickey Bar! That's what I got for a dessert every time at the All Star Movie food court during my son's 8th grade class trip a couple of years ago.

The CM was uncomfortably weird. Not funny at all. We were squirming in our seats!

:lmao:

It's hard to let the rain get you down when you are surrounded by sweets as far as the eye can see and you are waiting for Wishes.

::yes::

I have to say, I'll take Karma any time. I think I am more on the positive end of karma than the negative. But as I see on Facebook occasionally

"Dear Karma- you missed a few people!"

:rotfl:

That's funny about your son! My son (16 this week) doesn't seem interested or bothered by them. That may change.

Glad you enjoy my stories. The things that happen during a trip can be really funny when you take time to think and write about it.

Sorry you have to do so much work while in Florida, but I guess the upside is that you get to be there so long.

If it is any consolation, I will probably be doing some cooking in Hawaii. Maybe. A little. Or maybe just heating up prepared meals. On second thought, probably not any consolation to you at all.

Have fun!

PHEW!!! Glad you aren't going to shun me!

We managed to refrain from singing. We are not really a singing family.

Those are some great suggestions for the GMR CM. Even a round of "99 Bottles of Beer on the Wall" would have been better than what she was saying.

I thought of you as I was interacting with Bo. But I don't think he was into me. He was kind of aloof and wooden. I think you are his favorite!

Yes, watching Celebrate the Magic, Wishes and the parade (if running) while consuming way too many sweets is not a bad gig!

:woohoo:

I like the way you think Dee- if I want to avail of the luggage check-in really flying via Boston (and visiting dear friends) makes perfect sense ;)
Wonder how long it would take me to brainwash (ahem, convince) my family of this? :confused3

I think your Wishes pictures turned out pretty well! :thumbsup2 I guess that makes them well-wishes. Thanks for the well-wishes. Oh, that reminds me -- I liked the photon joke.

I agree, the cars on TSM move so fast that it's hard to get a good picture of them.

Ay carumba. Brazilian Tour Groups.

I had to laugh at your Bo selfie. The kids make it look so effortless, don't they? :rotfl2:

The boys look so HOT in that line! Good excuse for some ice cream ;) We lucked out on our trip with the Brazilian teenagers except we did encounter them at Universal Studios when we got cut in front of in line for MIB. :headache:
Love the Bo pics!:thumbsup2
And can't wait to see where you go for your last meal!

And thank you for the well-wishes! Clever. :lmao:

Glad you enjoyed the photon joke. Not too many situations where that might apply, but I think it fit in ok.

I'm sure the BTG's are in awe of me now! NOT!

I can't even do selfies with my phone, and it is really lame when I use my camera. I love going on field trips or chaperoning dances and that is the main feature of entertainment!

And can't wait to see where you go for your last meal!

It was SOOOO humid that day! Where were you?

Well there- I got them back for you at Toy Story. Then they got me. My turn now (or yours).

Bo is a cutie.

Last meal, coming right up!

:thumbsup2

We were famished and exhausted as we left Hollywood Studios. It was after 1:00 and we needed a place to eat. Soon. EPCOT? Boardwalk? Yacht Club?

We briefly considered going to Teppan Edo- the boys love Hibachi restaurants. But honestly, we were just too worn out to go all the way to EPCOT, and too hungry to wait since we didn’t have a reservation. We decided to ditch EPCOT. Unfortunately, that meant that I would break my promise to Ben from the day before that we would have another chance to ride Spaceship Earth. Sorry, Ben. :(

We decided to return for a meal at Captain’s Grille. It would be one of the first stops on the boat from HS. It was near our resort. The food is fantastic. And there is almost never a wait for a table. Plus- if you pay with your Disney Visa, you get 10% off your bill at breakfast or lunch.

As suspected, there was no wait for a table.

I think I have already posted the pictures of the moving pictures (the sailboat sails between these three pictures), but I believe today is the day I took the photos.

Here’s one of Ben’s hijinks!

Nate ordered a virgin Miami Vice, Clam Chowder and Lobster Sliders. The waitress asked if he wanted the regular clam chowder or the made-to-order one. Nate, who has never met an extravagance he didn’t like, got the custom chowder. I had a taste and it was SOOOOOOO good!

Ben had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and soup.

Mark ordered the clam chowder to start and the Captain Burger (burger topped with crabmeat) with orzo salad. Mark ordered a Coconut Elixir. I had to look up the ingredients: Coconut water, pineapple juice and cranberry juice.

I had the Lobster Sliders with orzo salad and an iced tea.

Once again, we had a fantastic meal at Captain’s Grille.

After saving 10% by using our Disney Visa to pay for the meal (discount valid at Captain’s Grille for breakfast and lunch), our check was $92.60 before tip.

I don’t see any desserts listed on the check. I find that odd since the boys were getting dessert with every meal. I can only guess that I tried to discourage them from dessert by explaining that they already had dessert (the funnel cake) BEFORE we ate, or that they could get cookies in the club lounge. I find it hard to believe they would accept either of those suggestions, but maybe they really were full from our satisfying meal.

Next Up: 7 minutes – Another visit to Stormalong Bay

We did not enjoy our breakfast at Captain's Grille at all, but we did love our dinner there last December. I think I want to try to move a ressie or two around and get back to Captain's Grille. Your hubby's burger with the crab meat on top is making me drool big time.

Hmmm....no dessert for the boys? There had to be some good reason.

Well there- I got them back for you at Toy Story. Then they got me. My turn now (or yours).

:thumbsup2

We drove back home that day so we missed all the humidity :drive:
Another meal at the Captain's Grille, eh? Wow, that place was empty! Your lunch looked really delicious. Now I'll really have to add it to our list of must do's for next time.

Lunch looks so delicious. That burger is to die for! The chowder looks wonderulf. How were the lobster sliders? You're from NE. Did that hold up to a New Englander's standards?

Great choice of lunch!
