Disney's CORONADO SPRINGS RESORT Information & Questions

We had a preferred room reserved for August 31st-Sept 5th. I received a call from Disney saying they were doing maintenance and preferred would not be available and we would be switched to water view. So, it's definitely happening but I am not sure when it starts.

We arrive sept 7th no call yet. We have a preferred room too.

It's been a long time since I've been on the DIS, and hate to sound "lazy," but just don't have the time to read through this thread to find the answer to my question....

DH likes to splurge on vacation. Our last trip to Disney was in 2006 and we stayed Poly CL. We LOVED it. He doesn't want to go any "less" for future trips. I really can't complain, as it was totally worth every penny for us. His motto is, "Life is too short to skimp on vacation."

Anyway.... We are looking to book for the Cochlear Celebration convention in mid February 2015. DH has his heart set on Boardwalk this time around (it will be just me & him going - the kids are 14, 16 & 18 and will stay behind). My question is this:

How does the Business Class lounge at CSR compare to the concierge/club level lounges at the deluxe resorts?

Thanks for any info you can pass along as we make our decision. :wizard:

Most describe it as club level lite. It is "Business Class" for $50 extra a night, not "Club Level" for $100 plus extra a night. You get a cold breakfast which is fine with most people, but there is no hot food. At night you get light snacks, drinks, and beer/wine. Again no hot snacks like club level. Business Class at CSR is IMO the best you can get at a Mod resort for location and amenities. But no the lounge would not be as good as CL at Boardwalk.

I compare these two every time I book a WDW trip. The problem is we go at Christmas time when the rates are high and we go for a full 2 weeks. It is about $3500 more for a room at BW and ad another $2k for club level. We really enjoy CSR and even though we can afford it I just can't convince myself that I would get $3k-$5k more enjoyment out of BW.

Thanks so much for the fast answer! I knew I could count on DISers to help me make a decision. Now the next question....

Do I come for the convention (which of course I would get to meet other cochlear implant recipients like me) where I would be in meetings most of the time, or do I go during the Food & Wine Festival, where DH and I would enjoy each other and eat & drink around the World...

Hmmmmmm.... Decisions, decisions.... So much to weigh in & consider. So is it worth going to a convention at Disney, or just go to Disney to go to Disney? (I realize this may be the wrong board to ask at, but hey....)

Thanks!

I personally wouldn't pass up any opportunity to go to WDW! ;)

Is the convention at your expense?

Is the convention at CSR? I think it would be fun to part of a convention there.

The wife and I did our first WDW trip with no kids last December. It was definitely a different experience. For the first time I felt like we got to actually see WDW. Our son is always 100 MPH and its really hard to stop and smell the roses when he's with us. :)

If you feel the info at the convention would be helpful, and meeting others with cochlear implants is important to you, you should go. My husband and I have done Disney kid free twice, and are looking forward to another trip in Oct. Doing Disney just the two of us is wonderful! If you are staying at CSR the Casitas section is so beautiful and very romantic at night with the lighting and fountains.

Just checking to make sure, you still tip at Pepper Market, right? They bring the food to you after you order at the stations? Just making sure I know what I'm doing, lol!

No, there is no more tipping. It operates like a normal food court now. Only difference is you pay when you leave not before you eat.

So we can actually eat moderately warm food, instead of waiting in a long line waiting to pay while our food gets cold?! I'm loving my decision to upgrade from Pop to CSR more and more every day! :cool1:

And saskdwd, you're usually the one to thank with your wealth of CSR knowledge! :flower3:

Yep! You can go straight from the counter to the table to eat!

Glad to help! :thumbsup2

And I was shocked at how awesome our food was at Pepper Market! Yum, yum, yum! (The chicken tacos were great - and I'm a Texan, born and bred....I don't hand out taco compliments at the drop of a hat.)

All the food we had at Pepper Market was good as well and it was never busy anytime we went there (albeit there was no large conventions when we were there either)

Do the quiet pools have towels or do you have to bring towels from room?

There were no towels near the quiet pool we used. We just brought ones from the room and called housekeeping for more, which they brought no problem.

The shampoo and conditioner and body lotion in the room at BC CSR were the same ones we received at the Contemporary 2 years ago.

what time does breakfast start? Earlier enough to grab something and make it to RD?

7-10 am. We made rope drop several times but not on the days they opened the parks early at 8 am. If your going to MK, hit the lounge right as it opens (literally), grab whatever it is you want and then speed walk to Bus Stop 2 and you may get on a bus in time to just about hit an 8 am opening. Do not...I repeat...do not go to Bus Stop 4 or 1 if you are in a hurry for MK at peak get to hours (morning, earlier evening etc). The walk doesn't take too long from BC (and I was with 2 seniors, 3 kids under 10 and 2 30 somethings...so we had a range of walking paces/leg sizes)

Just booked a trip with my mom for Oct 20-27! This thread has been great. We've only briefly walked around CSR so I really don't know much about it at all and it seems so massive! But we're so excited to be staying at a new resort. Since POFQ wasn't including in the FD deal and there was nothing available at CBR (we love it there!) we decided to try something new and ended up with a king bed here. And its our first time during the F&W festival. Oh my goodness, I can barely coontain myself just thinking about it all :woohoo::cool1:

120 days and counting!! :yay::yay::yay:
Just curious, did you book FD with a pin code? I ask because Oct 20th is a blackout day for FD and you need to check in on a day that is included in the FD offer. (FD starts again on Oct 26). If you didn't use a pin code you may want to double check and be sure your package has FD attached. Hate for you to find out after you arrive that you would have to pay for meals oop.

When requesting your desired room do you feel it's better to list a few options or just stick with one?? We are reserved for a standard room and interested in
Casita #4 or a room in cabanas. I think my DD would love to be near the big pool. We are traveling in September any advice on how the bus stop is by the cabanas?

Thank you! Does the food court have Mickey waffles? We have only been to POR before. We are looking forward to trying something new.

I don't know what brand it is but, mousekeeping is always good about giving me what I want. I want 2 in the morning, 2 for my afternoon break. I usually can catch them somewhere and get whatever I want.

I asked for extra and I was brought a whole bag, so I wouldn't worry about packing extra!

Good to know, thank you! I get cranky when DH wastes snack credits on coffee & Nescafe makes him cranky so this should help us keep the peace!

Hi, I have booked a King Preferred room for my husband and I for our 15th anniversary. I understand the room could be in Casitas 1-3. Is there an option of being "closer" to the Dig Site than others, as I do think we will take an afternoon to swim. Alternatively, we may be happy with a quiet pool. What would you recommend as a request?
