Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

Thats the beach we went to and I think one of the prettiest beaches I have ever seen for photos. The rocks and different textures there were just fabulous to photograph!!!

That was one beautiful beach. I think we took hundreds of pics of the waves crashing into the rocks. Thank god for digital photography. :lmao:

Simply stunning pics! What a nice day!!

Thanks, Ann! It was a really nice day once we got away from the mosquitos. :lmao:

Wow - the blues and greens in the ocean are just spectacular! Just lovely! Now THAT's a beach!

And that chapel is absolutely adorable! :thumbsup2

Karin, it's all your fault! :teeth::rotfl2::lmao:

All your talk about B2B cruises has inspired me to turn our 3 day Dream cruise into a B2B! :jumping1:

Seriously, I should be saying :thanks: because I know we will love it! Three days just didn't seem like enough!

Loved your pictures of the beach in Cozumel. It looked beautiful.

Hi Karin! Loved reading about your excursion and seeing all the pics.

I hope all is well with you - you haven't been around a lot. I'm guessing you are very busy!

I am so so ................. not sorry for getting you to book a b2b! You are going to love it. :thumbsup2 Just make sure you are staying in the same stateroom.
If you like your server team, let the head server know and he will hook you up with them again. :thumbsup2

That beach is gorgeous !!! Great pix Karin !!!

Thank you, Rosie! We were very impressed with that beach and I could have spent a lot more time there. The colour of the water had something magical. :goodvibes

It's the end of the school year and things always get a little out of hand. But this year I am so not prepared for our summer trip. We are doing a 12 night Med cruise and I have only just begun to do some serious planning. I did have some rough ideas, but no in detail planning. :scared1:

But thanks for sticking with me. I am trying to update tomorrow, so I can catch up with your TR again. :thumbsup2

Day 15, August 21

Mosquitos, ruins and an Italian dinner - Part 4

And finally everyone was back on board as well and we were heading back to port.

Once we got off the bus we strolled through the mall before heading out into the city

as we had passed a huge grocery superstore while driving to the Mayan Ruins. There were two reasons we headed there, first we wanted to try and check if there were any special Mexican beers Tom hadn’t tried yet and secondly we wanted to try and look if they sold Nutella, the sweet our Palo server Ophelie had been craving and was not allowed to bring on board. Soon we had reached the store and headed inside. We walked through the aisle and picked up an item here and there and low and behold we found some Mexican brewed beers Tom wanted to try. But we were still on the lookout for Nutella and finally, yippie we found some. We picked up the largest jar they had and headed to the cash register. Purchases paid for we walked back to the ship and through the duty free shops at the pier. We browsed a bit, but when we saw that they sold the large Milka bars we knew we had to buy one. No, not for us, but we knew someone on the ship who would love one. So we paid for it and then hot footed it back to the ship.

We only stopped at the tent DCL had put up again to hand out icy cold flavoured water.

We both got a cup full and enjoyed the drink before getting back onto the air conditioned ship.
Once we had returned to our stateroom we took showers and rested for a short while, while we waited for our lunch to arrive. About 20 minutes after ordering our room service lunch was on the table.

We started out with dessert, two wonderful and yummy

Mickey bars. Then it was time to dig into the savoury stuff. We had ordered a

Peperoni Pizza,

a Caesar Salad and the

Buffalo Wings with blue cheese and honey mustard dip. It had been a long day and we were hungry and with the help of some beer

and Diet Coke the food was gone quickly. And after some more rest we packed up the next FE gifts we wanted to hand out and started another walk around the ship to fill the FEs of our group. And who should we run into when we left the room other than Raj. He stopped and we chatted a bit about our day and how he had not been able to leave the ship because of his schedule. It was the perfect moment to stop him a little longer and head back to the room to get him his sweet energy booster, the large Milka bar. I am always wondering if cast members really enjoy the sweet treats, but with Raj we were sure. The way his eyes lit up at the sight of some chocolate said it all. Leaving behind a very happy Raj we then set out to deliver our gifts.

To be continued ............

You guys are so sweet to treat the staff with all the chocolate and Nutella treats!

YUM - NUTELLA!! I love that stuff on waffles...with strawberries and bananas. :scratchin I may know what I am making tonight. :rotfl:

If you like your server team, let the head server know and he will hook you up with them again.

Unfortunately, we are not in the same stateroom. We had booked our favorite aft stateroom a long time ago with our OBB. You know the room, you stayed in it the last cruise you took on the Dream. We only just booked the second leg so that room was not available. In fact, nothing in the category was available, so we decided to expand our horizons and booked a 4E room forward, starboard side. It will be a new experience for us, for sure. We are more likely to get lost finding our room on the first leg of the B2B since all of our previous cruises have been in aft balconies.

Thanks about the tip about requesting the same servers. I hope we get a great team on out first leg. If we do, I will definitely request them again.

Good luck getting your Med cruise planned. It really is a shame that all of the work you have to do at the end of the school year gets in the way of your cruise planning!

I'm so glad I ate a nice big plate of pasta before I came over here! All this talk of chocolate bars, Mickey bars, pizza, salad and buffalo wings, I would have been done in if I hadn't scarfed down that bowl of pasta!

Between yours and other reports on the Fantasy, I'm moving that up on my do list!

Hi Karin, I thought I better sign up for your trip report to find out more about cruising the Fantasy! With 20 nights on the Wonder I am ready to try out something different! :goodvibes

I better go back and get caught up with what you have written so far! :thumbsup2

Yay for more tequila!

And the beach shots are gorgeous! How I wish I were at a beach right now, far far away from life:lmao:

That is so sweet that you bought some Nutella for your Palo server and a chocolate bar for Raj. :goodvibes

Yum! I just love room service food. Doesn't it just taste 10 times better having it brought to your room, than you going and getting it yourself!?

I don't think i've ever seen that second beer before that Tom is drinking. Barrilito? I'll have to keep my eyes open for that one.

When you hear that Nutella is considered dairy and they are not allowed to bring it on board than you NEED to sneak it in for them.
You know, we all grew up with that stuff and it is so common here, and Ophelie was super nice, so we wanted to really surprise her. ;)

Buffalo wings AND Mickey Bars? You really are trying to kill me, aren't you? :lmao::lmao::lmao:

Not trying to kill you, Kathy, just get you in the right mood. :rotfl2:

YUM - NUTELLA!! I love that stuff on waffles...with strawberries and bananas. :scratchin I may know what I am making tonight. :rotfl:

It's really good stuff! We used to get some when we went to Italy on vacation when we were kids. Crisp panini with Nutella :cloud9: .... still love it that way today. :lmao:

Is there any chance that 4E room is available for both cruises. One of the things that are really great about a B2B is NOT having to pack up all your stuff. ;)

Thanks about the tip about requesting the same servers. I hope we get a great team on out first leg. If we do, I will definitely request them again.

I need to look up what where our server, Mario, was from. He was hilarious and took such good care of us. If I can find out, I will let you know, so you maybe can request him.
If you are going to Palo, ask for Corinne! :thumbsup2

Good luck getting your Med cruise planned. It really is a shame that all of the work you have to do at the end of the school year gets in the way of your cruise planning!

Somehow I just never got into the planning mode. I guess it is the fact that this is "just" Europe and we can get to any of the places on a two hour flight and we have been to most of the places too.
And I have only finally now started the fine tuning (I did pre-book the excursions though) and hope it will all work out until we leave. :goodvibes

It's always good to come to my reports on a full stomach. :rotfl2: Always lots of food around.
You really need to try the Fantasy. Such a beautiful ship and lots of fun things to do. :goodvibes

Magdalene, great to have you here.
I hope this will live up to your expectations. We loved being on the Fantasy. We started out on the Wonder and enjoyed it so much. I was not sure about cruising on the Dream, but fell head over heels in love with the bigger ships. Now, the Fantasy even topped it, but what can I say ....... German craftsmanship! ;)

Yay for more tequila!

YES, yeah! ;)
The flavoured ones were really yummy and they had an aged one which was so good too!

And the beach shots are gorgeous! How I wish I were at a beach right now, far far away from life:lmao:

It was an absolutely beautiful beach. I could have sat and watched the waves all day. :goodvibes

That is so sweet that you bought some Nutella for your Palo server and a chocolate bar for Raj. :goodvibes

It was so fun to surprise Ophelie with the Nutella. Her eyes REALLY lit up when she realized what her present was. :rotfl2:

Yum! I just love room service food. Doesn't it just taste 10 times better having it brought to your room, than you going and getting it yourself!?

Couldn't agree with you more! :goodvibes

I don't think i've ever seen that second beer before that Tom is drinking. Barrilito? I'll have to keep my eyes open for that one.

I don't think it was something really special. It was right there on the shelf with all the other local beers. I think if I remember correctly, he liked it. :thumbsup2

:rotfl2::thumbsup2

I have a story in my trip report about German craftsmanship and the Dream and the Fantasy!

To be honest, I am not sure I will enjoy the larger ship that much. One of the things I love about cruising, is to feel connected to the sea. Even on the Wonder you are rather detached and I am afraid that on the larger ships it will be even more about the ship and less about the sea. That's why the Oasis of the Seas has no appeal for me. I guess I am very German in that feeling after I read about the inaugural cruise of the Mein Schiff 3 last week which was built for the German market and seems to have a lot of that "being out on sea" feeling in the ship as well.

Another yum NUTELLA!! In our house we eat Nutella and bananas for a weekend breakfast treat. You guys are so nice to bring treats to the ship-bound folks.

Kate

I didn't see the big grocery store when we were there- just the big market with row after row of the same T-shirts, vanilla and silver.:rotfl:

It was so nice of you to go out of your way to find the nutella and chocolate for the CMs! I wonder why they can't bring the nutella on board, but they can have it if someone else does. :confused3
