Wait at the exit?

I have a disability that is unusual and only really prevents me from using 4 lines (3 at Disneyland and 1 at DCA). I asked if I could be allowed to use alternate entrances for those 4 attractions and was told by the CM in guest relations that I needed to send my group (which was just one other person as I was there in a group of 2) through the regular line and then join them when they got to the front of the line by telling the CM at the exit that my group had waited in line without me. When I got to the attraction, the attractions CM told me that this not possible. I ended up trying my luck in the regular line and after waiting about 45 minutes I was having such a bad reaction that I told the CM at the front of the line I couldn't ride. They let me out a side entrance and I went home earlier than planned.

I would appreciate any advice on how to communicate with CMs. The one I spoke to did not seem to understand my issue and how serious it was. I'm also wondering why they suggested I wait for my party at the exit when this doesn't appear to be allowed on most rides. Although I have had this condition since high school, it has only recently gotten worse so this is all very new to me.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience on your recent visit. I'm not sure that what you requested is available. Did you speak with Guest Relations about a DAS (Disability Access Service) card? There is a sticky thread near the top of this forum for DAS at DL/DCA that explains the details. It is basically for people who cannot wait in standard line queues for invisible disabilities. This is not based on diagnosis but rather based on need - so you would have to explain your needs as related to waiting in a line. You get a "return time" and your whole party comes back to the attraction anytime after that, so you are essentially doing your waiting somewhere other than in line. There will still be a short line through the FastPass entrance.

1) Because that is the normal procedure.
2) You wait for your party, at an alternate location, to come through the line then join them.
3) Nothing wrong with this.
4) If there is a different disability, then maybe a DAS card would help.
5) But, DAS is not meant for immediate or front-of-the-line access.
6) It is meant for the handicapped/disabled to ride the ride(s).

. . . the old & abuse GAC gave some immediate access, and was criticized for it
7) DAS is meant for ACCESS, not EXCESS.

It's not the normal procedure to wait at the exit of the ride for your party. If you has a das the normal procedure is to wait outside the line for the estimates wait time minus ten minutes and then enter trough the fp line. If the normal procedure was to wait at the exit, the exits would be very crowded and there would be a backup of people getting out while others are trying to get on.

Op go to guest services and discuss your needs (not diagnosis). Be specific as to why to can't wait in lines. Dont talk about specific lines. That will just confuse them. Good luck.

Exactly. Plus, how would you know that your party was ready to ride? Sometimes the exit is quite a distance away from where you board.

The problem was that I was told it was NOT possible to join my group once they had gotten to the front as there was no way for me to get to them. I would have no problem if they issued me a DAS so I could have a return time; I never asked for immediate access, but the information they gave me about joining my party after they were already at the front of the line was incorrect.

Explain what happened when you were in line that caused you to leave the line. Just stating your diagnosis or disability will not get accommodations, you need to explain your need. Just be aware if the issue is related to stamina or mobility, be prepared that the solution is to use a mobility aid, not to avoid the line. If it is something like the need to avoid stairs, you should be able to use the accessible entrance at the attractions that have stairs just by explaining that at the attraction.
