You bet your aft we had a good time! A Wonder trip report Update 12/30 p.59-611

Just caught up to your trip report, it's great so far and really enjoy following along! I especially love all of the photos as we're sailing next May on the Panama cruise - 14 glorious nights and I can't wait! The Wonder was my first Disney cruise, but it's been so long I barely remember the ship. Your pics are bringing back memories! Only 334 measly days to go!

Hi and :welcome: 14 nights sounds heavenly! How many of those are sea days? 334 isn't that far! :cool1:

Only the Airport TSA have the keys to open TSA locks, no one else is supposed to have them. The people that scan and search luggage are not TSA. Also just to note Disney does say in their FAQ that you can not bring sports equipment of any kind in your luggage so my guess is that they had the ball removed if it was found and it got misplaced if it wasn't returned. https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/...plans/faqs/prohibited-items/prohibited-items/

They don't mention any kind of ball at all as a prohibited item. Because most sports listed have some sort of ball, you'd think they'd list at least one like basketball and other sports balls etc. Everything listed is stick like in nature. The CM told me that Disney wouldn't have confiscated it. I think someone, port or Disney saw a really nice soccer ball and made it their own. If it was a policy then they'd have some sort of protocol set up, I'd think. :confused3

That water is so amazingly blue! Wow!

I'm with you on the motorcycle rental! :rotfl2:

Rock on with that Spanish girlfriend!

We arrived at Nachi about 9 am Cozumel time which was not the same as ship time. I think it was an hour earlier than ship time.

We weren’t the first there and they welcomed us with open arms. And a big sombrero, ya know the velvet tacky kind? Yes, those ones. They took the obligatory pics first of me and Joshua then Beth and Chase then the 4 of us. I don’t have pics because they wouldn’t allow us to take our own. I know they need to make their money but do people really buy those? No judgement or tone, just wondering? They are cheap camera quality as we would find out later as the lady tried very hard, and very kindly, to sell them.

I had put down like a $17 deposit online and had to pay the remainder upon arriving. They took debit cards so I used that. I wanted to save the rest of my pesos for tips and the taxi back.

They were just setting up for the day and we immediately saw our friends who were part of the wedding party.

It was a gorgeous warm Mexico day.

We were set up down the beach with four chairs and a palapa. The palapa was large enough to give us all shade all day. Nice job Nachi.

Our server was introduced to us and we ordered some beers and pina coladas, virgin for Joshua. I will tell you the service started out like gangbusters but then slowed down dramatically. Same with the potency of the drinks. They were strong at first and then became pretty weak by days end. Not complaining as I am as much informing. Drink early!

Several vendors of Nachi’s came by offering various water activities to which we said no to except for a snorkel set for Joshua. It was $5 to rent the mask. I should have bought one at Mega. Newbie.

Nachi’s food menu. Don’t worry kids, the prices are in Pesos and this was an AI so it could have said anything and not mattered.

I wanted to mention that I met some ladies in the water while Joshua was off with his friends from the ship. These ladies told me that they have been coming to Nachi for years but when they tried to book it was full. They decided to give it a go anyway. Looks like they were successful. A nice propina was all it took so according to my not so scientific method, Nachi had 100 +6 guests that day. LOL!

It was basically a day of swimming and playing and eating and drinking.

Joshua and his friends from the ship, Sierra and Savanah all rented one of those banana tubes. Their mom is Jennifer, the girl I'm taking the shot with at the Mixology. Super great family.

Beth took this, thanks Beth!

The pool was really nice but I didn’t go in more than my feet. Given the choice between the ocean and a pool, I will choose the ocean every single time.

The beach at Nachi wasn't nice fine sand but felt like ground up shells, very rough and not white. The water was blue and warm.

Now for the grub!

Their versions of nachos. OMG I love real Mexican food. Yummy Mexican cheese with beans, salsa, and guacamole.

It’s tradition; don’t worry we pick them up:

Joshua's shrimp cocktail type dish. This was delicious!

BIG shrimp and new soccer ball:

Chicken tacos and cheesecake. The tacos had that fresh cream and Mexican cheese. Amazing!

Our AI included an app, entrees, drinks, and dessert EACH for both of us. We didn’t come close to eating our share. Oh well.

We left Nachi to go back to the ship about 3:30 or so. All aboard was 5:45 and we wanted to do a little shopping. I had a friend email me with a medication request and I wanted to see if Mexico got any new local trinkets in the last month. LOL!

Can I tell you how happy I was that we chose late dining? For any of you sun worshippers like me, late is the way to go!

On the way back Chase sat up front:

We arrived back at the port/shopping area and looked around a little. I found my friends’ meds. The Mega didn’t have them earlier so I was glad I found them. We also ran into a cute kid making bracelets. Joshua being Joshua wanted to buy one for Ozzy our server. He also found a Barcelona (think futbal) for himself. Our guy had to make the Ozzy one as you can imagine as they don’t have those laying around.

We sauntered back to the ship, resisting Sbux once again.

Ah what a lovely ship she is!

We got back through security in no time and guess what Disney did NOT confiscate? Joshua’s very not hidden soccer ball.

We stopped and got drinks and a slice of pizza and headed to our cabin.

When we returned we found this:

And an arcade gift card for Joshua. I am guessing it was for the missing soccer ball. Thank you Disney. I appreciate you trying to make good. But the card didn't explained what it was for. I can only imagine the soccer ball. The wave phones were a headache but not free wine worthy.

We had a wonderful day in Cozumel with Beth and Chase.

Up next: dinner and dancing and drinking. Lots! party:

To be continued......

What a fantastic chill-ax sort of day. I'm envious. I love those kinda days but we never seem to get round to doing them at all.

The last time DH and I went to an island resort, we both ended up climbing the walls before our week was up. We just need to fill our time up with activity.

Nice new football. And kudos to Joshua for wanting to get a friendship bracelet for your server.

Love the food. I could eat Mexican any day of the week.

Sounds like a lovely fun day. The food looked awesome! So the food and drinks were included in the admission? Sounds like a deal. We appreciate your perseverance. :flower3

I'm glad they let him on with his soccer ball.

Only the Airport TSA have the keys to open TSA locks, no one else is supposed to have them.

I realize this and it totally works in theory. Only the military are supposed to use assault weapons, and people aren't supposed to have heroin in their possesion , but it happens. I'm sure there are a few TSA locks out there which are held by non TSA folks. Hopefully not many.

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! Looks like a fun day on the beach. I just love that blue water against the sunny skies. :thumbsup2

That looks like a fantastic place for a sun worshiper! ;) Glad Joshua got a new soccer ball and DCL didn't take that one. :) Yay for free wine.

This looks great and sounds like really good value. I still think we will stay loyal to Chankanaab.

Corinna

I LOVE that Josh was having a bracelet made for Ozzy! He is the most thoughtful young man!

I have only been to Nachi once, but we did enjoy our day there. It was very relaxing, and quiet. I would go back- and I agree, the food there was very good!:thumbsup2 Your pics are so nice- I really need a beach day.....

I am pretty sluggish on most vacations we take. I opt for the lest activity possible.

The last time DH and I went to an island resort, we both ended up climbing the walls before our week was up. We just need to fill our time up with activity.

The hubby of the friends we went to Mexico with started out that way this trip. We Fockerized him. :rotfl2: By day 3 he was as lazy as the rest of us; strolls on the beach, a beer now and then, more food, chatting, swim, lather, rinse, repeat.

He's a good kid. He wore it the rest of the cruise which was sweet. :thumbsup2

Love the food. I could eat Mexican any day of the week.

Me too! I could literally eat it every single day. I am on a street taco kick.

The food was so good, so authentic. :cloud9: Yes, it was all inclusive; $55 for me and $35 for Joshua. It's y understanding that tips were included but I still tipped.

I'm glad they let him on with his soccer ball.

They didn't bat at eye. I know his ball disappeared at Port.

It was the most gorgeous day on the beach- it was truly perfect. Slight breeze but nice and warm. pixiedust:

Free wine is always good. :thumbsup2 But I bet the original ball cost 4x as much. ;)

Is Chankanaab's sand better? That's the only thing that bummed me out was the course sand.

I LOVE that Josh was having a bracelet made for Ozzy! He is the most thoughtful young man!

he really is a nice boy. I don't take credit, I just think we got lucky. :rotfl:

Have you tried other beach clubs in Cozumel? I'd try another for sure. Like I said, the sand didn't thrill me but not sure if that's a total Cozumel thing or not. The food was fabulous! And love the strong Pina coladas. ;)

I am finally caught back up on your DCL trip report after being away for a while.

Naichi looks like a very nice place to relax. Glad to read that you all had a great time. The food looks very appetizing and good.

Nice update.

You'll have to Fockerize us one of these days. :thumbsup2

Hi Bret. Nachi was the perfect place to relax. :beach: I think it really helped too that Beth and Chase were so fun to be with and that Joshua had friends there from the cruise.

I will Fockerize you when I meet you. :flower3: Resistance is futile. :rotfl:

The sand at Chankanaab is very fine. I am not one to spend any time at the beach. I am a bit of a water baby and when I am near an ocean, I am usually in it either swimming or snorkeling. They do have a bunch of loungers and hammocks though.

I'll be trying Chankanaab next time then. I love the fine soft sand. Nachi had hammocks but a few kids monopolized them the whole day. I was in the water a lot though. Joshua too. He loves the water.

We liked Nachi a lot, so I guess that's why we are going back in August.

The food was good in 2010, so I'm glad to hear that is still the case in 2014.

I don't think I noticed the sand. Then again, I'm from Long Island, so I'm used to Jones Beach on the south shore and the north shore beaches that front the Long Island sound, all of which are a coarser with rocks and shells.

The food was outstanding, authentic and delicious. :thumbsup2 You won't be disappointed.

I don't love the course sand but of course it's better than any of the sand here in Utah. ;)

Loved seeing and hearing how your day went. Sounded glorious!!!

I'll post my basically tour of the shops this evening.
