Teena: so happy you are back home!!!! Please take care of yourself and make sure Bob spoon feeds you breakfast, lunch and supper until you are better ;).

Back from a stay at Yacht Club (17th May to 22nd) and just wanted to say how much I enjoyed it. Chose it for the location and got a good price on a standard room courtesy of - ahem - a non-Disney site (can I say that here or will I be chased away with a fly swot?) :) Best thing about it for me was the location - close to my 2 favourite parks of DHS and Epcot and with the facilities of Broadwalk also close by.

I was in (I think) 2170, which was on the second floor, had a king-size bed and a limited view of the garden (which was fine by me as the main thing was it was quiet). Room was an excellent size, I had towel animals every day (always brought a smile to my face) and although I barely watched it, a good number of TV channels. Staff were lovely - I was pleasantly surprised by the personal greeting when I arrived and check in was very smooth. I really liked the smell they pumped into the reception area as well - in fact the whole theming worked well for me.

There were a number of minor issues (nothing that spoilt it or would stop me going back but they're worth a mention):
- the bathroom layout is weird. Worked fine for me as I was on my own but I can see the tiny bath area as being a possible issue for more than one person;
- the buses to AK and DTD weren't great. Had an average wait of 30 minutes - don't know if I was unlucky but it was a bit frustrating;
- there was one day where my room hadn't been cleaned properly (a couple of things had dropped out of my bin and there was a towel left on the carpet - not one I'd put there, by the way). Not a big deal but a bit irritating given that I was leaving tips each day.

Anywho, I'm hoping to try and do a trip back next year and would definitely consider YC again if I could get it for a decent price.

Thanks to the people here for all the information.

To combat this insanity and avoid an unfortunate confrontation should piggy finally make their way to the pool, Ninja Mom recommends finding a chair with NO personal Items on it (it's ok to move it if it has just a RESORT towel on it and the people near the chair say they are not using it) and MOVING it to a New Location. It doesn't have to go far... but by moving the chair Piggy will have no idea WHERE it WENT and thus will not have anybody to yell at.

Chair Piggies, I was cracking up so hard!!! :hyper: That is one of my biggest pet peeves on vacation!!!!

Teena- I hope you feel better real soon!!!! Thinking of you :)

Natebenma- thanks so much for the June activities! I appreciate it!

Which brings me to my question... are there any activities at SAB that you would highly recommend doing? We made ice cream last time and it was cute, my son enjoyed it. What others are worth the time and/or cost?

Thanks!

I'm home ... all nicely medicated ... at least I think this is home. My head is spinning. Anyway, thank you for all the prayers and good wishes. It was a bad five days and I can't thank you all enough for all the wonderful well wishes!!! I'm loaded up on pain meds and antibiotics and unfortunately they said no work next Sunday and Monday either. No way can I walk around all day on my feet the doctor said. I'm so sorry I'm going to be missing everybody this past Sunday and Monday and the next weekend too. I love meeting the new Disers and catching up with the regulars. The family we have all created is so wonderful. I am one lucky woman!!! Thanks Dee for being my voice. Most of you know I don't have a smart phone or laptop so when I'm not at my desktop computer, I have to rely on Dee for everything. What would we all do without her???? Jeanne and Lily appreciate knowing how many of you care for me. It's very hard for her being so far away but you all make it easier. She says she feels like I'm surrounded by lots of love. Man those meds are strong - think it's time for a nap!!! Now all I need is to get rid of the stent and the world will be a happy place for me again! Thanks again!!!! :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Teena hope you're back on your feet soon!! Take care. :)

BC first timer here staying just for a couple days, 6/26-6/28, after 4 night on the Dream. Really excited to check it out especially after reading this thread. My dd can't wait to swim at SAB!!

Welcome home, Teena. Relax and enjoy the drugs. I've been through this, you've earned lots of rest.

what is the easiest/most affordable way to have water and basic breakfast items like cereal or poptarts shipped to the resort? Is Garden grocer the way to go or is it easy to ship form Walmart.com ? I know the thread said to use only US mail, but what if you ship from a store site that you can't choose how it ships?

Thanks for any advice!!!!

If you ship UPS or FedEx to a Disney Resort which has a convention center, such as the Yacht Club & Beach Club, your package is delivered to the convention center. The company which runs the convention centers charges a fee to retrieve your package. The fee is based on the weight of the package. The last time I did this was March 2012.
Package retrieval fee:
Up to 5 pounds: $3
5-20 pounds: $5
above 20 pounds: $10

You can walk over to the Convention Center to pick up the package yourself. Or you can call over and ask them to deliver it to your room. I don't have the phone number; if you want to go this route, ask about it when you check in. I don't think Bell Services does the delivery; I think the Convention Center has its own assigned employees who do the deliveries.

If you ship USPS, my understanding is that your package will be delivered to a central Disney delivery location before it is taken to the hotel, so you need to leave extra time for that. However, my understanding is that it will be taken to the hotel, not to the Convention Center.

So glad you're on the mend and taking time off to recover!
I will miss not seeing you next week. :sad1:

Do they still do the t-shirt making? My kids always use to do that one and I saved all the shirts they made.

I have used ME (The Tragical Depress) from Disney resorts to the airport 5 times and have never been in danger of missing a flight. I would be interested in hearing if anyone has, and if so, how Disney was able to help, since they are the one setting the time of the transport to the airport.

I think issues with ME are rare and I don't think most people should be deterred from using this service.

Luvpoohandcompany is an international traveler, so if her family's experience was too close of a call for their comfort level, then I can understand them wanting to be in control of their return trip to the airport. As she said, her family wants to be sure to have plenty of time to relax and get something to eat before their long flight home.

I've literally taken ME a hundred times without ever being late or even close to late! ::yes:: The only time we experienced a ME delay was on the morning of the full marathon leaving from the GF just as the race was starting. We were stuck for a while and then got a police escort through a pack of runners and were finally on our way! But even then we still made our flight. :thumbsup2

I love that smell!!!!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes I finally found a soap that smelled just like it but then Target stopped carrying it. :( They need to bottle it for sale. ::yes::

Teena- glad you are home and the surgery was a success. Take care of yourself. Rest up! Your cruise ship is waiting!

Rebecca.

Thank you for posting the activities calendar! My DD(19, will be 20 the week after our vacation) saw the tie dyed t-shirts and wants to know if she can do one? Any age restrictions? She wants it to go with her collection from the ones she's made for her sorority...

As far as that fragrance in the lobby is concerned I know it's really hard to find in other products, so I just run around in the lobby with those gallon size zip lock bags and trap it for later smelling, like when I am home after my trip.

I'm starting to get depressed because I am down to my last 15 bags and I don't think they are going to last until my next August trip.

I found a pic! This was the soap I bought at Target that smelled just like the BC lobby!!! :)

Yay Teena! So glad to hear you are home. Being in the hospital is no fun, that's for sure. Follow the doctor's orders and get plenty of rest. Hopefully you'll be back on your feet in the lobby (literally!) June 8-9.
