It's Magical! A 10yr Anniv Dining Report with Extras! Updated 9/4!!!

After the not so great start to your trip, with the luggage fiasco, I am glad to see that the lunch at Paradiso 37 was mostly good. We have a big group lunch planned there in October and I just know that we will be trying those skewers, the look lovely. Oh, and maybe a humongous cocktail or two :thumbsup2

I love your friend's chair. That is adorable. And is that the Brit at SJC that I spy? ;) They make good bloody mary's!

POR looks so lovely. I am pretty sure I want to stay there one day.

Paradiso 37 wasn't on my radar much -- but that corn and the skewers look SO good. And the ginormous drinks. I could see how that would be a little bit too much sweetness though.

Ok, I'm officially dying over here! We ARE in one of your pictures. That is my family in your first picture! I'm in the process of telling my husband, I "know" them! :lmao:

Looking forward to your review!!

Great start - Paradiso looks so nice though shame about the leche.

I have never seen a bag so badly damaged as that bag of your husband's. Unbelievable - I can't even begin to imagine what they had done to that :(

Looking forward to reading the rest

Paradiso 37 is a restaurant I've been eyeing for a while but somehow we've just never gotten around to trying it. I was also very intrigued by Jeri's review of this place and those humongous cocktails. I think we definitely need to check it out. ::yes:: The Crazy Corn and those skewers look delish! It was nice of your server to bring you another selection when you didn't enjoy the Tres Leche.

Splitsville looks fun! I haven't bowled in years so my score would probably be pretty pathetic but it looks like a fun choice for a Downtown Disney day. :thumbsup2

Happily joining in : ) So far the stand out WTH ... I just can't get over your husbands suitcase, wow! Then of course that crazy corn & your biggie cocktail look like something we would love to try. Also I love his type of report style a little trip info and dining reviews make for a nice read along

Joining in. :goodvibes
I've been eyeing that corn for a while too.

And, what the heck! Did they stick a wolverine in with the cargo?

The corn was yummy! And hmm... that is a valid thought!

Joining in!

Welcome!

I'm here! Can't wait to read along.....

Miss hanging out with you

Hi Beth! Miss hanging out with you too!

Joining in Paula! I, too, remember the suitcase fiasco from Facebook. What an awful thing! But having met the two of you, I knew you would make the best of it. You probably handled it much better than I would have! This would have been me for sure ... :furious:

I loved P37 when Andrew and I tried it last August and am really looking forward to taking Jay there in September. Those skewers may be calling our name!

Looking forward to the rest! :thumbsup2

I think we were in a buzzed state of shock! The buzz quickly wore off though! The skewers were fabulous!

Paula, I am in. That really stinks about your DH's luggage. I don't think I would have been as easy going about it. We are driving this time so if anything happens to our luggage it would be our own fault, and that just wouldn't be good! Can't wait to see the rest of your food reviews, it will pass the time until my trip in July.

I think they treated us better because we weren't all yelling and screaming. We are still waiting to hear on if we will get reimbursed for the bigger items.

I'm so excited to follow along! It looks like awesome dining plans!

I can't believe what happened to your DHs bag & belongings! That's nuts.

It was nuts! Thanks for following!

Hey Paula, I'm here and joining in! I love your idea of a hybrid DR with TR details thrown in.

That was such a bummer about Hunter's luggage. I was glad to see that he didn't have to wear the same thing every day. :)

Welcome Brenda! Ahhh yes... I think we would have definitely been placing a stat order if he was reduced to only one outfit!

I'm here, and looking forward to your report!
PS--if my rocking chair goes missing, I'll know where to look ;)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Welcome Tina! If it was a pair of chairs and I could get them to CO then yes, you should be concerned! Ha-Ha. I would never do that! Thank you so much for the ride to and from the airport!!

I'm back on the boards today and was very happy to see you had started your dining report. Personally, I am glad that you decided to go this route rather than a TR, as I find it hard to remember to check other sections of the boards for updates. :thumbsup2

First of all I love your "It's Magical" title. ;) While I know that you had some less than magical moments, I hope that overall your trip really was "magical" overall. I know that when I last saw you on Saturday night, you were thinking about canceling your October trip but it seems like it is now a "go" again?? Anyway, it was so great to spend time with you and Hunter again. Thank you so much for letting me crash your party. :goodvibes

Your Paradiso lunch looks really good. I need to branch out at DTD and give this place a try, perhaps on my next trip in October. My family visited Splitsville during our Spring Break trip in 2013 and we also had the fries as a snack but we had ours loaded with cheese and bacon. Needless to say, these were a big hit.

So anyway, great start and I'm looking forward to reading more! :)

Welcome Barb! I think you were there for when the "Magical" first made its appearance weren't you? It was great to spend time with you as well!

I have a feeling we may be trying a few DTD places this time with our resort being SSR for the fall. And yes.. that trip is back on.

I'm here! Can't wait to read more!!!
Welcome!

Amazing reviews so far! Following eek!!! I am so excited for our WDW sept trip!

Thank you! I'm excited for our Oct trip! We love F&W!!

The cocktails are great! Especially if you are able to share them! The skewers were just full of flavor. Fabulous!

I love your friend's chair. That is adorable. And is that the Brit at SJC that I spy? ;) They make good bloody mary's!

Yes the chair is adorable! Do you know Tina? I think she lives closer to you?? I have not tried the Bloody Mary there but yes I was at the Brit. And actually I have had the Bloody Mary at the real restaurant off Almaden.. is it the same?

Yes, the drinks were good for me but not for Hunter who gets hypoglycemic after too much sugars.

Ok, I'm officially dying over here! We ARE in one of your pictures. That is my family in your first picture! I'm in the process of telling my husband, I "know" them! :lmao:

Looking forward to your review!!

Okay! That is WAY too funny!!

Great start - Paradiso looks so nice though shame about the leche.

Yes the Tres Leche was dissapointing but we enjoyed everything else so it was a win for me!

We couldn't believe the bag either!

Hopefully more to be posted soon!

Splitsville looks fun! I haven't bowled in years so my score would probably be pretty pathetic but it looks like a fun choice for a Downtown Disney day. :thumbsup2

My bowling score was pretty pitiful! A combo of the wrong ball and wrong shoes to start and having had multiple of the HUGE cocktails probably wasn't helping either!

Happily joining in : ) So far the stand out WTH ... I just can't get over your husbands suitcase, wow! Then of course that crazy corn & your biggie cocktail look like something we would love to try. Yes. the suitcase certainly made an impression! and not a good one! Paradiso was very good! Hoping to visit again!

I'm glad you like the report! Hopefully more soon!!

Next up was dinner at Raglan Road. We easily checked in and were seated at a table right next to one of the little individual dancer stages and pretty close to the main stage. Perfect as I really wanted to experience Raglan Road entertainment as we had only been for lunch before!

First they brought out the soda bread and Guinness reduction.

I wasn’t very hungry so I just went with the Go(at) Fig(ure) salad. I had had this in December and similar versions on previous visits and I just absolutely love it! The Warm crispy goat cheese with the fresh greens and the fig jam! Yum!!

Hunter also wasn’t feeling very hungry after his crashing after the fruity drinks so went with the soup. It was the same soup he had in December and I still can’t catch what they are calling it! I think it was a Cabbage, Potato, Bacon soup. This was just as good as the first time!

So despite us not being very hungry we did enjoy the entertainment!

Cute little kids dancing the Irish Jig!

Some videos of the entertainment at Raglan Road. I believe you just need to click the image for them to play!

Sorry.. you kinda have to turn your head for parts of it!

After enjoying some Irish fun we boarded the boat back to POR to catch some other entertainment! And no one does it better then Yeeha Bob!!

The fun that is YeeHa Bob! Click for video!

Hunter was starting to get a little hungry so we decided to order a couple of appetizers from the River Roost

Chicken Wings (naked as I’m not a fan of Buffalo sauce) and the Cheese Fritters

The cheese fritters were better than the wings but nothing was really exciting. It was food though so it did the job!

Up Next a morning in Magic Kingdom!

Enjoying your reviews so far Paula...and following your comments on Barb's DR, I'm eagerly anticipating your YSH review!

We're staying at SSR in August. It's the first time for us - have you stayed there before?

Hi Paula, I am finally emerging out of lurkdom to comment on a dining thread.
Excited that you chose to do a dining report over a TR. That's a bummer about Hunter's luggage but you have a great attitude and glad it didn't derail things too much. Anyway, looking forward to reading along.

I've seen so much of you in others' reports that it's high time I join in on yours! Going back to read, can't wait! :thumbsup2

I regret not taking Michael to RR but I can only fit so many meals into the days we were there! YeeHa Bob is still on my must try list! Those cheese fritters look good. Are they like a fried cheese nugget or what's the inside like?

I'm here! Great start so far. I remember hearing about the luggage issue on FB. Hope it all gets worked out soon.

I am so going to try Paradiso again next year. I have been there before but it's been quite awhile. I may need to budget for drinks. Good golly those looked big and great!

Yikes, that suitcase incident is unbelievable! Glad to hear it didn't completely get you down and that you had some good opening meals.

Haven't tried Paradiso 37 yet, but Raglan has almost always left me feeling satisfied. :thumbsup2

We have only eaten at RR for lunch and I have wondered about the entertainment. Booked us for dinner this trip. :thumbsup2 How was the music?

Now Yea-haw Bob is presenting me with a problem. He isn't around most of the nights that would work for us. Right now I would have to change our Cali Grill dinner in order to see him. I will keep peeking at reservations to see if I can maybe swap Cali with RR and then we can head over to POR!

Raglan Road remains my favorite DTD restaurant and since I usually only go to DTD once each trip (if at all), it makes it difficult to try other restaurants there, like Paradiso. So I like your idea of having just appetizers and then doing both in one day. :thumbsup2

I regret that I've never made it over to POR to catch a Yehaa Bob show. If my DH ends up joining me at the end of my October trip then I'm definitely going to fit it into the schedule. This seems like something he would really enjoy, plus he's always complaining that he's done everything there is to do at WDW.

Love your review so far. You two are the cutest couple. POR looks so serene and pretty. I can't believe what happened to his luggage. That is just crazy. Can't wait to read more!
