***Official November 2014 thread***

We will be there from nov 15-22 and I'm super excited about this trip!! It's gonna be a surprise for my son who will be turning 5 on Nov 18, which as we all know is also Mickeys birthday!! I'm going to order a cake and have it delivered for dinner at chef mickeys. I can't wait!

That is awesome, my son turns 5 on the 17th while we are there

Well it is official! I finally booked our November 2014 vacation today. We are staying at Sheraton Vistana Villages November 1 - November 16. We are actually leaving October 31 and staying in Savannah, GA. We will stay one night at Staybridge Suites at the Airport that night. The next morning we plan to drive the rest of the way to Orlando.

I am really excited because we will be celebrating our 10 year anniversary. Both DH and I love Disney and have talked about going on a 2 week vacation for a long time. So we decided to make this vacation our dream vacation at Disney. We plan to spend 8 days in Disney Parks, 1 day at Universal/IOA, 1 day at the beach and a lot of sight seeing and shopping.

I have been buying one $25 disney gift card once a month. My goal is to have $200 in disney gift cards. I am also using 52 week savings challenge to save additional food/spending money. I really want to make this the best Disney vacation we have ever taken.

We were 'just' in WDW in September 2013, and we are booked and officially headed back in November! Our current plan is to stay at Pop and enjoy Thanksgiving week in the Florida sunshine! Thanks for having me in the group!:wave2:

We were there as well at that time. It was a lot of fun.

Welcome! It's a lot of fun Thanksgiving week, and if you're really into Christmas, you won't be disappointed! Enjoy your planning!

Any tips for first time Thanksgiving traveler to Disney? We have been to Disney a lot but never over a major holiday. Looking for any advice...popcorn::

You can count me in on this group as well. We were just there in August and I was desperately trying to find a way to get back and the only time we were able to work it was Thanksgiving week. We're going to do a short trip and actually be home just before Thanksgiving Day, but we should still be able to get a lot done. Right now we're booked at AoA LM but that could change if a friend joins us and/or FD is offered. We'll be there from 11/21-11/26, catching MVMCP on our arrival day. 212 days to go. Can't wait!:thumbsup2

We went Thanksgiving week a couple of years ago and loved it. It's cool in the mornings and at night but the daytime is lovely. We didn't get any rain that week, which was nice. A little too cold for pools and water rides IMO (but we're from Texas, so 70 is kind of chilly) but there is a lot of other things to do. Thanksgiving Day is pretty busy of course, but we were able to enjoy a day at MK and have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at CRT. Many restaurants have the traditional meal for that day, so check around if you're there that day. It's usually suggested that you avoid MK on that day because it's the busiest park of the day and Epcot and AK can hold more people better so it doesn't seem as crowded. The longest lines we saw were for the monorail and of course FP for Soarin and TSMM ran out quickly. That won't be an issue with FP+ now though, so just make sure you make your reservations when you can. The holiday decorations are awesome, especially the Castle and the Osborne lights. Photographers were every 5 feet, so if you want your picture taken that's a great time to do it. We did our family Christmas pictures there that year, which was nice. They don't do MVMCP or the Candlelight Processional that week, so if those are on your list you'll have to arrive early or stay late. There aren't any discounts that week either, so again you'll have to arrive early or stay late to try to get some kind of discount. It's not as bad as Christmas/New Years but probably on par with Spring Break.

Have fun! Maybe we'll see you there.

Hey Squirrel! Good to see you again! We were on the November boards together two years ago! Nice to see a familiar face! Enjoy planning!

Hey Mickeyplanner! We go over Thanksgiving but we avoid the parks and wait until the week after to hit them up. Last year, however, we broke our own rule and went to MK the day before Thanksgiving and it was Very crowded. We lasted a whole 2 hours and left. We only did restaurants at resorts and did a couple days at DTD over Thanksgiving. If you plan to go to the parks, I recommend you check out a crowd calendar, as they can steer you towards the best days to visit each park. All the Christmas decorations will be up, as well as the holiday music playing throughout the parks. We also really enjoy visiting the resorts and checking out their Christmas trees and specially made holiday decor. Also, for Thanksgiving dinner we did Cape May Cafe and it was great! Haven't decided where to go this year yet. Overall, You will have a great time! Enjoy!

Very cool! I'm glad we're able to go again this year. It was on the verge of not happening but I pulled some strings and while it will be short it should still be a great time. Already got our MagicBand colors picked, just have to figure out ADRs in the next month. I've got some favorites from the wife and kids and just need to figure out if we're going to do something we missed on the last trip or add in something new.

Checked airfare on a whim and it's only $260! That's less than we paid last year. Kinda want to book it but it's still early and so much can change!

That's great! I honestly don't know what I'd do if we decided not to go in an upcoming year. I love all the planning from January all the way till November! :hyper: lol I hear you about ADR's. We need to figure out where to have Thanksgiving dinner. Once December's calendar comes out we can try to figure out the rest of the trip. My kids picked their colors as well, they're very excited to get their own bands this year! Will you be driving down again? :drive: Enjoy the rest of your planning!

What date do the MVMCPs start happening? Also, when do Xmas decorations go up? And the lights at DHS?

Thinking about a WDW trip this nov but not sure yet. I've only been to WDW once and never to an MVMCP. I'm very new to all this stuff, so if anyone knows the answers to any of these ques, that would really help me out.

Check out www.easywdw.com for his planning calendars. He has links to the Disney calendars for dates of when the parties are. I think the Christmas decorations go up in early November and are there until early January. This year will be our first for the party but the third time coming during the holidays. It's a fun time with some unique experiences and the weather is usually quite nice. A bit too cold for pools and water rides (unless you are from Canada, the Canadians we met on the last trip loved the pool!) but other than that it's a great time.

We did Thanksgiving dinner at CRT a couple of years ago and that was awesome. It's expensive of course, but still fun.

The plan right now is to drive again. I'll monitor airfare but unless a super sweet deal comes out or I can score some points/miles somehow then we will drive again. It wasn't a bad drive last time and having our car was kind of handy for all of the parks except MK. Our kids don't know we are going yet as we are waiting on a couple other things to settle into place before confirming completely but it's 98% there.

CRT has really good food, we like breakfast there! We were actually thinking of doing a character dinner for thanksgiving this time around... We did Cape May last year, and while the food was great, the kids were slightly on the bored side. Nothing fun or exciting going on for them. If we do, I think we'll surprise them. The best is when they think they're at a regular restaurant, and all of a sudden they see a character!!!! Their faces are priceless!!!
We will be driving again. The kids did great the past two years... Hope we will have a nice ride again this year! Good luck deciding!
You have to tell us how your kids react when you finally tell them!! They'll be SO surprised, I'm sure! Have fun!!!

HI!!!!
Thanks for asking about Graduation. It was beautiful. The town did a private celebration and my son wrote a speech. It was the most precious moments ever. If I can figure out how to send you a private message with a link to a clip a friend did for me, I'll PM you.

So tonight DH talks Disney trip and then I find out I can preorder discount tickets of the Lion King in Boston with my Disney Visa. DH said he preferred me to go with a girlfriend, so I happened to be talking with my girlfriend that she and her husband came to WDW with us in November 2013 and she said she would go with me. We have Sunday matinee tickets so we can go into the city in the morning and have brunch before the show. Her birthday is actually that Wednesday so it's a double celebration. I get to take something off my bucket list and we celebrate her birthday. Win Win!
:cheer2:

Ok so if my son didn't just argue with me (yell) because I asked him to take his shower so I could go to bed, it would have ended a perfect day.

Oh well I'm happy.

Oh and brag moment, my other son in college, is being inducted (that's such a weird word) into the Alpha chi honor society Sunday. He is considered a first semester Junior because of AP classes he took in High school. The letter said he is in the top 10% of the Junior/Senior classes. He's a smart guy.
Please send Pixie dust his way. He has never been able to land a summer job and he has an interview tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he will get it, but you never know. It's not many hours but a start.

Oh you asked about our Anniversary. It's November 5th.
I joked with DH that we'll wear our 25th buttons and cross out the 25 and put a 26 and see if we get extra pixie dust because we went two years in a row.
:lmao:

As soon as I know for sure I'll get you know we are going.
We have a few things to juggle (mostly my son's respite care) and it's too early to attempt that. We did that last time way ahead and it because a real mess just a month before we left. So I"m good with waiting to see the specials that pop up over the summer.

Happy planning. I love magical days.
