YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Such a fun update, my friend.

I wondered if you are doing a December TR.

I couldn't agree more. Kona is by far our favorite breakfast at Disney. I just hope it doesn't go away when they do whatever it is they are doing at the Poly with all this construction.

The interaction you described at the meet and greet with Mickey has a lot to do with keeping the magic alive. I just love watching little kids meet Mickey for the first time. It just warms my heart.

Love your photopass pictures on Main Street.

And no more paper fastpasses...still seems strange.

You got great shots in the Haunted Mansion.

Wow! Great shots on HM! You were lucky to have gotten stuck in there. I got stuck once in Madame Leota's room. To be honest, it wasn't that fun for photographs, even for me! :lmao: I'd rather the attic.

Love that you quoted the ride too!

Those pancakes look heavenly!!

That's too sweet about the little girl with Mickey. :lovestruc I love seeing little ones so enamored with the fur characters! Like their stuffed animals just came to life!

Cute PP photos on Main Street!

I miss HM. Haven't ridden since 2012 because we thought Paxton would be too scared of it last year so we skipped. I've been mentally prepping him though and at least reminding him of all of the fun he has in the interactive queue, so maybe I can get back on it next month!

I bet watching the sunrise was amazing! Oh Kona breakfast! We have done dinner there, and breakfast at Capt Cooks for the tonga toast but we still have yet to have breakfast at Kona. I definitely want to try those macadamia nut pancakes! Wow I can’t believe how fast those decorations go up! This was August still, wasn’t it? I love the Mickey Mouse photos! That’s actually going to be our first stop in May, I’m so excited to find out how Gavin is going to do with the characters and Mickey is his main man. That poor Irish boy! Reminds me of that Family Guy episode if you’ve ever seen it. I’m so glad those doom buggies don’t randomly go out in the graveyard. That ride totally creeps me out LOL! Great pictures though!

Great pictures of the bride in the HM. Everytime I visit the HM I notice something new, now I will be looking for the hatch.

The pancake looked wonderful, now I will be sure to add them to my lost of must eats at DisneyWorld.

Hi Brenda! School has been busy so I've gotten very far behind but I am playing catch-up now!

That Monster's Inc. cupcake is beautiful! Too bad it didn't taste as good as it looked.

Your Poly pictures are beautiful, and that's so nice that the boat driver stopped so you could take pictures of the finale.

Disneyland Space Mountain is honestly a lot better than Disney World Space Mountain...and the WDW was my favorite ride for a very long time, so that's saying something. DL's is so much smoother and the soundtrack makes it better.

Ooof I would be very disappointed if I didn't get to see the magical portal. That's my favorite part!

You're breaking my heart! I could do ETwB multiple times a trip. It's not for everyone, but since I am a BatB fanatic it's one of my absolute favorites.

Oh man, paper FP. Nostalgia!

You are absolutely right about the bread and butter at Kona. That's an entire meal right there! You don't need anything else.

Love it when you're the person working against the grain in the park, right? And then you think that everyone is looking at you like you're crazy, going the opposite direction they are? :lmao:

Disneyland Space Mountain definitely trumps Disney World Space Mountain. It's the main reason I cried when it was closed on my impromptu trip to Disneyland last April. :sad2:

I'm being hopeful for a soft open of the Mine Train in May too!

Totally random, but I love Em's Blondie shirt. Excellent taste! :thumbsup2

I think you are quickly approaching Danielle-land, and you will be doing 2 TR's before you know it. :rotfl2:

Monday August 26, 2013: Day 11, Part 1

The morning started with a lovely sunrise over Bay Lake. No surprise here since most mornings would find me awake early enough to catch the sunrise. It was an interesting sight to see the boat launches heading to their destinations across Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. The big ferry boat was going towards the campgrounds. I couldn’t figure out where it was going since that was an odd direction. Maybe it was going for a test drive around Bay Lake with a new skipper!

OH my gosh Brenda, what a great view first thing in the morning. I can't wait to look off my balcony in June from the 12th floor of the CR and look out over Bay Lake at dawn.

We needed some Mickey love so we went straight to the Town Square Theater to see Back Stage Magic with Mickey Mouse. There was a 15 minute stand-by wait which perfectly fine because why??? Yes, there was A/C! I seriously need to travel during the 2 months out of the year when it is not 80+ degrees! Are there even 2 months of the year when the temps don't hit 80+... perhaps not since we were there in early December and you guessed it, it was 80 degrees at least a day or two. Which reminds me, I still have that TR yet to share! I'm so slow at keeping up with this TR let alone all my subscriptions that if I start that one before I finish here it will be a very neglected TR so I'll wait a little longer. Of course the longer I wait I may have 2 other TRs in the queue.

DSCN9880.jpg

I can't believe I have never stepped foot in the building to see Backstage Magic with Mickey Mouse. Thanks to you that is about to end in just a few short weeks from now. :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, those pancakes look delicious!!! Well, the pineapple part anyway! I don't know if I've ever had a macadamia nut outside of a cookie, but I do like those. Haha.

The "goodbye" sign from It's a Small World is one of my favorite details. I love seeing all the different languages. Very impressive that you got your own boat.

I have two antique fastpasses from 2009... and one of them is for Soarin'! I know the protocol was always to hand them off to someone else if you weren't going to use them, but it truly wasn't necessary on that particular trip. And now I'm really glad I have them!

Wow, it just amazes me how quickly Disney converts the seasonal changes in the parks. Hmm, you maybe could have watched that from BLT.

Haha, did it actually ever get below 80 last December during the day? Maybe after I left. It was hot I know that!

Oh yes, definitely a connection with the crystal ball and book. Disney does nothing by accident.

I love that you said that Brenda. I too adore watching the others have their interactions especially the littles. Too many people want to just rush in and out and they're missing the best part. I remember from my October 2012 trip with K8, there was a little kid in the group behind us at the princesses that was so precious. After we were done, I asked the CM if we could wait a bit before leaving because I just wanted to watch her and it was as heart warming as you described.

OH, and before I forget, looking at your Mickey and Main Street photos. My father was over a couple weeks ago and was looking at all the photos from December (I have trip photos plastered literally everywhere). He was looking at the one at AK Tree of Life (he knows everybody on these boards by name AND location now I talk about it so much). However, the main point was he looked at the photo and then asked... "Which one is the mother and which is the daughter?" So see... I told ya!

53 photos during Small World? Well that's only really one per minute. Or maybe it just feels that way... :scratchin

Another beautiful morning, what a view. :goodvibes
YUM Kona breakfast! I'm sorry, I'm sure their other offerings are delicious, but I absolutely can't stray from my tonga toast! :rotfl:

There was an adorable toddler in front of us in line who adored Mickey. She repeatedly kissed his nose and was giving him love. The grandmother kept apologizing to us because the little girl didn’t want to leave.

So adorable!

LOVE the Mickey pictures, I love that outfit of his. And your Main St. PP pics are awesome!

I am wishing I had an old fashioned fastpass around here somewhere... not sure if I do though. It would be a great little relic to frame some day.

iasw and HM first thing in the day, sounds like an awesome start to me!

that sounds relaxing just watching the boats come out for the morning. I wonder if that bigger ferry going to the Poly is related to the construction there and how it was reducing monorail service there - either happening at that time or just projecting to come

I do love photographing IaSW - but those poor indentured servants ... the things they go through just to get an extra FP+

That mystic crystal ball is definitely not just there by accident ... also, that box next to it looks familiar, not totally sure where from (looks like a smaller version of the ark from Indiana Jones)

That is a sweet story of the toddler loving Mickey so much - love seeing moments like that

YUMMMMMM, now I want pancakes for dinner! :lmao:

great pics of the haunted mansion! I love the bride with the axe.....so funny. Not many of us show up to the wedding that way, but at some point in the marriage I'm sure most wives feel like that a time or two...:rotfl2:

Thank you again. Evie has slept with her Minnie mouse every night since :goodvibes

For almost any other ride, having a private boat all to ourselves would be cause for some major celebration but on It's a Small World not sure I would feel about that. ;)

We've somehow managed to meet Mickey every trip without a visit to his meet and greet in the Town Square. Still debating whether we want to try the talking Mickey. :goodvibes

Love your pictures from the HM! I can never get enough of Leota or The Bride. And yes, totally agree with you that a woman holding an axe in her wedding gown raises some major red flags.

That is a Beautiful view! I can see why you enjoy staying there so much!!

The beloved Kona pancakes! If only you could get them to go without dealing with server issues! :rotfl2:

What?!? No Pirate pose with Mickey!? Aarrgh!

Gotta love when the HM buggy's pause! Picture time!!

Ha ha! Just because I mentioned a Dec TR doesn't mean I'm going to be any good at it at this point! It may have to be a photo heavy report. :)

Oh no! You planted serious concern in my mind! I hope they don't get rid of Kona. What will I do? Where will I go? Oh wait... Scarlett moment occurred there.

I think the characters are at their best when they interact with the littles. It is always a pleasure to see.

Wow! Great shots on HM! You were lucky to have gotten stuck in there. I got stuck once in Madame Leota's room. To be honest, it wasn't that fun for photographs, even for me! :lmao: I'd rather the attic.

Love that you quoted the ride too!

Thank you! Until I saw other peoples' fabulous HM ride photos I thought mine were decent. I told one Diser that mine look like an etch-a-sketch compared to his. :p It was a great place in the ride to get stuck!

Oh man they were! No doubt if I had to only pick one breakfast at Disney that would be it.

The adorable little girl kept kissing Mickey's nose and we so enjoyed having a front row to watch that. That's a great context - stuffed animals coming alive. :thumbsup2

Thanks! We do that arms outstretched pose too often. We need to come up with some new stuff. But don't be surprised if you see it at least another time this trip.

There's something compelling about watching the sunrise in the morning. It helped that we had a lake view and faced the East.

I've yet to try Tonga Toast at Captain Cooks. Maybe one day if we ever need a quick breakfast.

Yes, it was late August and those fall decorations went up. It seems like the fall decorations are up longer than the Christmas ones but probably not.

I haven't seen Family Guy in a long time so that episode doesn't sound familiar. It's funny how pop culture gives us a perfect frame of reference for things.

Ok, I'll admit, that's probably a good idea for the off road doom buggies only for me!;)

Great pictures of the bride in the HM. Everytime I visit the HM I notice something new, now I will be looking for the hatch.

The pancake looked wonderful, now I will be sure to add them to my lost of must eats at DisneyWorld.

Thank you! I really want to focus on the new and exciting things that I haven't seen before on the HM ride. There's so much detail that I simply can't take it all in.

Definitely add those delicious pancakes to your list! Yum!

Hi Brenda! School has been busy so I've gotten very far behind but I am playing catch-up now!

That Monster's Inc. cupcake is beautiful! Too bad it didn't taste as good as it looked.

Oh man, paper FP. Nostalgia!

Courtney - welcome back from Italia!! I just got caught up with your TR and I am so glad that you included photos from Italy. That looked like an awesome trip!

Looks can be deceiving with cupcakes, just keep that in mind. ;)

That skipper for the boat launch was awesome. He didn't have to do that for us but it was completely appreciated.

You are right. The soundtrack for DL Space Mtn makes it more thrilling. When they added that feature the ride immediately moved up my favorites list. I appreciate the smoother ride at DL.

Wow! I sounded harsh for ETwB. :worried: I believe there are two kids of people in this world - those that get the adorable characterizations and appreciate a fine tale involving audience members and those that are bitter that they've never been selected for a part so disregard the entire experience. I must fit into the latter! I know you are a Belle lover so I will fully support you in your admiration for this fine attraction.

You are absolutely right about the bread and butter at Kona. That's an entire meal right there! You don't need anything else.

I'm being hopeful for a soft open of the Mine Train in May too!

Totally random, but I love Em's Blondie shirt. Excellent taste! :thumbsup2

I think you are quickly approaching Danielle-land, and you will be doing 2 TR's before you know it. :rotfl2:

If I have to be right about one thing in life, I'm glad it is that bread/butter is simply amazing!

I'm sure there were a few people wondering why the heck these two gals had the urge to move upstream and be in their way when the fireworks were over! Ha ha! I should have just said, 'thanks for making your way to the exit so we can enjoy a less crowded park' Yeah, not.

Completely agreed Danielle! DL's SM version rules!

I think you will have much better luck with the Mine Train than me. It should definitely be open by your trip.

Ahhhh, it's no Ariel leggings but her tee is a fan favorite! I'll tell her you said so.

Yeah well, I haven't pulled the trigger yet so we shall see. Once I start it may have to be a photo heavy TR with less narration as I have a few notes but memory fades the farther away I get. Me being old and all, it's bound to happen.

I can't believe I have never stepped foot in the building to see Backstage Magic with Mickey Mouse. Thanks to you that is about to end in just a few short weeks from now. :thumbsup2

Hi Bob! No posing with Mickey for you at Town Square? I can understand if Goofy was there you would have no excuse! :upsidedow

I guess you are about 7 weeks out from your trip? I know you moved to the CR due to some fabulous offers. I know you'll enjoy the views of Bay Lake.

I hope all is well! :)

Oh my goodness, those pancakes look delicious!!! Well, the pineapple part anyway! I don't know if I've ever had a macadamia nut outside of a cookie, but I do like those. Haha.

Sue, they completely are. I'm obsessed with those pancakes. I actually have ordered the pancakes with and without the nuts inside them. If the nuts are too much you can just order the regular pancakes and have the macadamia nut butter on the side.

I don't know if it was impressive that we had our own boat or if someone was trying to tell me something! :rotfl: But it was nice to be able to be a goof and not have anyone judging me from the back of the boat.

Put those relic FPs under glass! :worship: You may be sitting on a gold mine someday with those! Honestly, I think I have a few laying around that we didn't get around to using and they were beyond the expiration so you can't always be benevolent. :goodvibes

Wow, it just amazes me how quickly Disney converts the seasonal changes in the parks. Hmm, you maybe could have watched that from BLT.

Hi there Rob!

Hmmm perhaps we could have - if we weren't looking at the lake! :rotfl2: Just kidding. I know what you meant. And you know... we have been able to view the midnight dress rehearsal of MNSSHP before from BLT so it could happen.

See what happens when I don't document everything thoroughly, I completely forget why in early December I was wearing sundresses and shorts. I'm sure it was over 80 more than a few days.

You are absolutely, without a doubt correct. There's no circumstantial happenings with Disney. I'd love to hear about more ways that Disney relates attractions and such. Always amazing!

Oh, I love that story. I know that you've watched some amazing character interactions in the past too. It really makes the Disney magic come alive seeing little ones interact.

Ahhhh you are so SWEET! Seriously. Thanks to you and your dear dad. Good thing the photos are not zoomed in!

Yeah, if the IaSW boat went a little faster I would have only taken 40 photos! :rotfl2: I don't mind if they speed it up.

Another beautiful morning, what a view. :goodvibes
YUM Kona breakfast! I'm sorry, I'm sure their other offerings are delicious, but I absolutely can't stray from my tonga toast! :rotfl:

iasw and HM first thing in the day, sounds like an awesome start to me!

Well.... if it couldn't involve savanna animals then this was the next best morning view! :)

My perfect breakfast would be 2 parts macadamia nut pancakes to 1 part tonga toast. They really need a combo with those two on the menu. It would be epic!

Magician Mickey is so dapper.

We'll be people who can say remember when they had paper fast passes and show proof of this extinct relic.

I hope you are getting some spring weather soon!

that sounds relaxing just watching the boats come out for the morning. I wonder if that bigger ferry going to the Poly is related to the construction there and how it was reducing monorail service there - either happening at that time or just projecting to come

Hi Phil. I've seen where the launches, ferries, and boat come from back behind MK but I have no clue about that ferry. :confused3 For the construction now, I think you are right. Weren't they reducing the daytime monorail traffic??

Seriously huh? Poor kids.

I need to start asking questions in line and see if the CM can provide any itel for the Magician Mickey artifacts in that room. I agree, nothing is there by accident so it would be good to see the connection.

Simply adorable! I love those moments. It reminds me of so many years ago when my kids were little. :sad1:

YUMMMMMM, now I want pancakes for dinner! :lmao:

great pics of the haunted mansion! I love the bride with the axe.....so funny. Not many of us show up to the wedding that way, but at some point in the marriage I'm sure most wives feel like that a time or two...:rotfl2:

Thank you again. Evie has slept with her Minnie mouse every night since :goodvibes

The power of photos huh? :lmao: I did it to myself as well. For some reason I've wanted pancakes ever since I posted that.

Thanks! Ha ha!! I'm sure on my bad days that may be how my DH pictures me. ;)

You are ever so welcome. I'm glad the girls are enjoying their swag. :goodvibes

So you are saying that your own boat on Malestrom is preferable over IaSW? Ha ha! At least we didn't have a boat load of people singing along with the SW song! :lmao:

For me, the interactions that we had with talking Mickey were odd. But there were some that were spot on and tear inducing (Courtney) and completely magical. I know they can select the voice track but we've just had random pirate and magic trick ones. I think we'll see an expanded version of this with other characters before too long.

Ok, I would take your compliment but I just got caught up with your TR today and say your HM photos and mine suck compared to yours! Just saying! ::yes:: It is always good to make sure the bride is only holding a bouquet when she is walking down the aisle. Safety first.

Thanks Paula! Just one of the many reasons we love BLT.

Those server issues at Kona can seriously dampen the experience. On our last trip those pancakes were a complete bust because of our server. But I will try them again because I'm so loyal!

Nope! We didn't have the talking Mickey that trip. December was the first time we experienced that. And I'm ok with the strong silent type of Mickey.

I need the doom buggy to pause so I can get some decent photos. I don't do so well in passing the scenery.

Good vibes back at ya wii!! :goodvibes Thanks for dropping by.

You night pictures are just gorgeous. If you were going to pick only one meal at Kona, which would you choose, breakfast or dinner? I probably know the answer, but thought I'd throw it out. I'm also trying to decide which character breakfast (with characters from Mickey and Friends) I'd want: Tusker, Cape May, or Chef Mickeys. If you have an opinion, feel free to weigh in.

If we do go next Feb, it will be during President's Day week. I'm a teacher in MA, so our trips have to be planned around my vacations. I know to expect crowds. The one concerning thing is the FP+. We stay offsite in my parents' timeshare. If I'm understanding correctly, we can't book ahead other than day of, and the lines to the kiosks are very long. I wish they would do the same as ADRs, and do 190 days for onsite guests and 180 for offsite. Not that I want to plan my rides like that way anyway, but if that's how it is, then I wish I could do it ahead of time rather than waiting in a line to do it.
