50"s and over singles

Dave oh why have you forsaken the East Coast and how is it being a Floridian???I consider ot all the time.

Last week I was up in Connecticut visiting my daughter, and I was quickly reminded why I moved to Florida. The Gulf Coast is a great part of Florida. You should move to Florida...the water is fine, and it is great being so close to WDW. :cool1:

I'm reviving an old thread since I have a solo trip coming up in March and would like to share any of my meals if anyone is interested. Not doing any signatures this trip. This is what I have:

Mama Melrose on March 2 earliest dinner
Kona Cafe on March 3 lunch
Yak & Yeti on March 4 late lunch
Via Napoli on March 5 lunch
Kouzzina on March 6 late breakfast
Ohana on March 7 late dinner

If a shared meal with a 62 year old grandma appeals to you, let me know.

Jeralyn

Anyone in September? My dates are Sept 6 to 13. I've done a solo trip before and loved it....but it was during Christmas and there were many Christmas related thing to do that DS would never have been interested in. But I feel like I did everything I wanted to do on that trip and don't really need to again. Like lots and lots of shopping time.

My September trip wasn't supposed to be solo, but things change. I hate to postpone because I'll be on the tail end of an AP that didn't get the use I planned. I bought it during a trip last Sept, planning to go again in April and September. The April trip didn't happen, and if I don't go again before it expires, I'll have used it only for one 7 day trip. If not for that I'd postpone until Christmas time again.

I'm just thinking I'm going to be bored solo in September since there is nothing special going on.

As far as being bored, don't worry too much about that. I've gone solo only a couple of times (so far) and I admit it was a daunting thought at first. I thought too that I'd be bored, turned out just the opposite. If there's a thing you sort of want to do, but don't have to, do it. Such as...I always wanted to casually walk the grounds of Grand Floridian and the mosey over to the Poly but who else would want to take vacation time in WDW to do such a thing? It was perfect when I was solo.

Little things like that, going over to a resort just to see it, or taking a nap in the afternoon, or spending an entire morning in one of the spas or fast passing just the coasters and riding them all....or watching the gorillas in AKP , having a cappuccino on the side street off Main, etc., etc. these (to me anyway) make a solo trip special. Check out the flag ceremony on Main Street at 5:00 one day, or eat at one of the high end restaurants you want to try. Brown Derby comes to mind, I enjoyed it very much when I was there solo.

Just some suggestions, enjoy your alone time!

DeeCee, Funny you should mention taking a walking tour of some of the resorts, as a family we, on purpose, make ADR's for some of the resorts and arrive before the check in time or hang around after dinner just so we can take a little self tour of the grounds. It is most enjoyable.

I am or rather I should say my daughter and I are heading to WDW April 27 and checkout May 7th, the day after my birthday. Staying at Pop this time. Then my deceased husbands niece and her daughter are joining us on may 1st, they are staying in AoA, Little Mermaid. So I will see AoA for the first time since being built.

After such a freezing cold winter here in Ohio, I am a little intimidated by the warmth I expect we might have while there. No time for my ole body to adjust.

Before heading to WDW, I am arriving a few days early in Florida to visit with some childhood school friends who have moved down to Florida.

We got our Magic Bands in the mail yesterday, I must say they are lighter weight than I thought they might be, but since I NEVER wear anything on my wrist they are a bit annoying at first, something I think I can get used to.

So Looking forward to having a great time, and enjoying the Flower and Garden.

Hi DisMom!

I hope you enjoy your Spring trip ;)
I'm going in mid-May, just for a few nights. I didn't realize it's Star Wars weekend in DHS. I'm a fan of the original (dating myself:) but have never been there during this time, so it should be interesting. Really I just want to hit some good rides and see the parade. Other than that, I think we'll do alot of relaxing at the resort, and some resort hopping.

We are staying at Wilderness Lodge Villas, a first time for both of us (travelling with a friend this trip). So, I'm excited just to be in a "new" place and spend some time in that area.

We too had a winter much more freezing than usual, here in NY. I'm a bit concerned with how humid I know it will be in May, but I think I'm actually welcoming the heat and humidity for once! I can't stand how cold it's been and for how long.

I hope you enjoy your trip immensely!

Enjoy your stay at Wilderness Lodge. Stayed at the villas a couple of times. Great resort! I am going in 5 days. Staying at the Grand Floridian. Just a short trip celebrating my 57th. Can't wait to see the new parade. Looking forward to dinner at Narcoossee's. First time eating there!

Although I am not quite 50 (I will be 49.5 on my trip :rotfl: ), I am single and I will be down in the World from Dec 7th to the 12th staying at BWV. I am doing an early 50th celebration with a sea/land trip. I am so looking forward to going solo and hitting all my fav spots that usually get lost in the mix when traveling with family & friends. Still a bit nervous about the whole "solo" thing, but its something I have wanted to do and I am tired of waiting for others to come with me so I decided to just do it!! :cool1:

Besides, I love Disney at Christmas. :goodvibes

@Lindaland.. Go for it. You will have a blast! I go solo sometimes also. If friends don't want to come, it doesn't stop me from enjoying the Magic! Have fun! You are going at a great time of year! I go in 4 days and it is supposed to be 90 degrees! Yikes! LOL Pool time!

DeeCee, do enjoy yourself too! Thanks for the well wishes. I was just tweeking our Magic Bands yesterday and I must say it has been fun.

Hopefully some day I will be able to afford to stay in a Deluxe, can't right now so that is why I enjoy visiting and having a diner there. Never enough time to see it all and with family joining us with a toddler, I am certain to see less than I do, but the experience of spending time with family who have never been to Disney, well that is priceless.

Lindaland, you are in for such a treat, WDW at Christmas is such a joy. We went for our 35th Anniversary in 2007 and OH it was so Grand an experience. Do enjoy and tell us all about your experience.

I love to read all about others experience, it gives me ideas of some special things to look forward too.

Our last trip was during Star Wars Weekends, I decided to avoid DHS for those days, I am not into Sci-Fi and figured the park would just be so crowded, left it to those who enjoy Sci-fi. Do have fun tho, I am sure one day I will say I should have done that when I was there.

Thanks! I kind of feel like I am just about to get on a very long coaster. A little nervous, a little scared but so excited I can hardly wait!! :woohoo:

Have a great time on your trip!! And try to stay cool....:beach:

I love Disney at Christmas, especially the World Showcase. Our first two trips ever were at Christmas in '07 & '08 (I was a late bloomer :rotfl:) Last year we went for Halloween and F&W and had an absolute blast, decided we had to do it again so we are planning a family reunion at that time in 2015. When I heard about the podcast cruise, and I had always wanted to do a cruise, I had to go. However no one could go with me so I decided to go it alone. pixiedust:

I do love F&W and so I have wanted to try a Flower & Garden trip one of these days, but the Star Wars weekends sound awesome too! I am a total sci-fi geek so that would be amazing. :thumbsup2

So many plans..... so few days off!! :lmao:

I am at WDW right now and having a blast! New parade is awesome! Love being in my magic bubble! Eating good! Had dinner at Narcoossee's yesterday and the Wave tonight! Celebrating my birthday and retirement! Going back to reality tomorrow afternoon!
