YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Canada the song is so beautiful. I must admit that I'm kinda obsessed with singing it in the car and yes I butcher the french part but that's the thing is I took spanish not french. Haha. It's fun while we're in the car and Olivia screams "Not this song again!" :lmao:

We have booked our stay for ASM September 15-21st.

Scratch that out!!! Just in...we are going to Disney World on September 22nd-28th!!! I didn't particularly want to stay at ASM but until the Fall Specials come out we will stay there. If the Fall Specials come out we might stay at POR or even...AKL!

So it looks like we will be there during the same time you will be there. :) I'm so excited plus we get to experience the F&W for the first time too which is what Jason wanted to do!!! EEEKKKK!!! Can you tell I'm excited?

I just got caught back up! Your pictures are lovely as usual. I'm not one to be afraid of rides, but I have ever doneMission Space. I will have to try. It seems I am getting closer to convincing DH into a February 2015 trip, so maybe I will get my chance sooner rather than later!
Congrats to Em! Wedding planning is just the best!

That cupcake....YUM!!

Rainy day naps are pretty nice!

Love the mother/daughter photo at the end!

Thank you so much for your most sincere congrats! It is appreciated :)

There was this little image that my hubby texted to Em and her fiancé as a joke several weeks prior...

52151.png

The next text we got from Em was a photo of her hand with the ring!!!!

Love it! He did well with the ring. Did she have any input or was it a complete surprise?

Thanks Cynthia. Believe me, the fact of how young they are was a concern when we knew his intentions. We've seen them fall in love and mature over the last 4 years and they are certainly not done yet. I think the next year will be good for them.

Will they be going to school? I don't know that I've heard what Emily plans to do. So exciting :goodvibes hopefully you can get a girls trip in before the wedding...and after!

That was the best part of my day when Em shared that she wanted to be the one to take me on her first WDW trip as a married woman.

Now the real question is, has Jordan been to WDW yet?

Back in our room I noticed that the dishwasher had been run for the heavy load of dishes that we had dirtied.... NOT! There was one glass that I placed in the sink for which mousekeeping had started the dishwasher.

Oh that drives me nuts, so wasteful! I do like controlling all that myself with DVC I must admit

The absence of photos for the next 3 hours strongly implies that we must have taken a nap. We’re like little kids I tell you. In our defense, we did stay up pretty late and for me at least, I was usually up around 6:30am.

I am envious, I cannot nap to save my soul.

What a lovely interlude in Canada. Sorry the funfetti was meh. I have a mini DL trip update in my last set of updates, hoping we can hook up if it works out for you (and Em too!) :goodvibes

Wow!!! Huge congrats to Em!!! How exciting for her. And you! And it is so cool that she still wants to do mother/daughter trips with you. I hope Willow and I will be doing the same throughout her life, even if it someday includes grandchildren! :scared1:

I feel a little weird just continuing on with TR comments in the same post, but I guess I’m too lazy to start a new one???? :confused3: Sorry!

Okay, there may be something wrong with me for focusing on this, but seriously, they ran the dish washer for ONE GLASS???? That makes my head explode!

Oh goodness congratulations!!! How exciting! I remember when I got engaged at 21 - people telling us we're too young, not experienced at life, etc...but our parents fully supported it and i'm glad you guys do to! :goodvibes

I was just commenting on Mary Ellen's thread about not seeing O Canada since 2008...i'm such a terrible DIS'er. I need to get back there and see it. However, I do know the entire 'You're a lifetime journey' song. Does that make up for it?!:rotfl2:

Too bad about the cupcake. It actually looks really delicious inside!

I just cringe at the one glass in the dishwasher:scared: Especially since we're in a major drought right now.

Congratulations!! Em & Jordon!! I am so happy for you all. I agree, nothing better then to get to grow up with your life time partner. They will have memories that few ever get. Chris and I have been together since the week before I turned 18. So many were betting that we wouldn't last. I love that we grew together. Can't wait to hear the wedding plans come together.

I really need to spend more time in WS. Watching the movies is top on my list of things I need to do. I hope our next trip to fix this. I figure if we try drinking around the world that should keep us in WS longer to get some movies in.

Glad you had good timing as far as the rain go. Nothing wrong with resort time. I am all for taking a long nap. Sometimes I wish someone would come and make me take a nap on a busy day.

Let me know if you need me to add Em to our dinner in September. Or we could just show up with her at the door...I'm sure they wouldn't argue with Michael about us having an extra guest. :)

Mark and I were talking just the other day that we should visit Canada some day. It's not like we are THAT far and we've never been. I'm glad to hear you've been to part of it. I'll have to pass on the French lessons (I had a hard enough time with Spanish).

I think you and Em secretly just wanted a nap and the rain wasn't really scaring you away.

Congrats to Emmy! The ring is beautiful.

I love your trip reports. :goodvibes

I am from Canada (Vancouver, BC) and also struggle not to cry while Eva Avila sings. :grouphug:

I thought I saw somewhere that you have an April/May trip planned? I will be in WDW May 3-10th (not in the parks until the 4th). Am I actually going to be in WDW when the famous emmysmommy will be? :scratchin

I'm so behind in reading your trips reports but I knew I had to stop by and see what all the commotion was about. How exciting that Emily is getting married. Sounds like your family is very excited about it. I loved planning my wedding and it was a great time in my life. I hope it is extra special. And, I think you'd be the coolest Grandma to have in the world (not that I'm suggesting they have kids yet... they should wait until they are ready)... A Disney grandma would be like heaven.

Now, back to your reports... I need to catch up...

UGH... about the maid washing one cup in the dishwasher. Seriously, I know they have more rain in Florida but that is wasteful. Thank goodness we got some rain in Northern California TODAY (it is still dry but better than before). It looks like a really good one for the foothills. I did learn the other day Southern California gets their water from Colorado. I did not know that until I connected the dots with the Hoover Dam. LOL...

Hello!! I am still here!!

LOVE BLT...hopefully we will be staying there in the next few trips!

Congrats to Em on her engagement! I'm glad that you guys will still be taking your mother/daughter trips! They seem so special! I'm also curious to know if Jordan has been to WDW?!

Brenda, Canada would welcome you! Most people use a combo of metric and imperial, lots don't speak French, and you get used to the poutine! :lmao: ironically I've never been as far west as BC. If you ever find yourself on the east coast though, look me up!
Yikes. Those storms look serious. I can't blame you for napping through them. You guys have great timing! That cupcake looks amazing, too bad it was just ok. :/
Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Awww thank you Wendy! Glad to know that I don't need to pull out my handy dandy metric converter to be a fair Canadian. You know I would look you up. :thumbsup2

I have to say that the cupcake looks better than it tasted. Looking at it now, it actually looks pretty good.

Love that picture you took in Canada looking through the rock. Very cool! I want that.

I feel the same way about O Canada. I always come out of there saying, "I MUST plan a trip to Canada". Of course, I never do because I am always planning another WDW trip. :rotfl2: But one of these summers I am going to Nova Scotia. I have wanted to visit there since I was a kid.

Cute picture of you and Em on the monorail.

Glad you got in a much needed nap! :goodvibes

Coincidently, for your last TR update I saw you visited the Canada Circle-vision too!

I hear ya, those darn Disney trips seem to take precedent over all other vacation destinations. It's an obsession to get one more trip in before the AP expires. :) Speaking of Nova Scotia... they have New England cruises that go there which I think would be awesome! Plus our Canadian friends Wendy and Rob are in those parts!

Ha ha! Vacation naps are sometimes a necessity.

I can't blame you for going back to the resort every time it rained. Nobody enjoys touring the parks under umbrellas or dashing from building to building. And if you're at a nice resort why not make use of it? ::yes::

Oh, wow, running the dishwasher for one glass...guess Mousekeeping wanted to make sure that dish was spotless.:rotfl:

I love to watch the rain, I just don't like to be IN the rain. That whole melting thing and all. ;)

Yeah, mousekeeping certainly went above and beyond... I usually wash any dishes that we dirty but I left just ONE glass out and it didn't get past mousekeeping!

I love Canada! Living in Buffalo is a unique experience, because the next closest major city to us is in a foreign country! We're exactly 100 miles from Toronto.

That is a very pretty cupcake, even if it wasn't delicious. I have a HORRIBLE sweet tooth and all that frosting makes me giddy!!

Love that last picture of the two of you! No doubt there will still be lots of girl trips!! :goodvibes

So Toronto is closer than Syracuse. I've been to Syracuse among other NY cities but never been as close to the border as Buffalo.

It was a very attractive cupcake....they didn't fail in making it look appetizing! Eat all that frosting and you will have a blue tongue my friend.

Speaking of girl trips... another one just booked. Details to come...

the Canadian pavilion is super pretty ... though I tend to think that about each of the showcases until I get to the next one and then think that is the prettiest :rotfl2:

yeah, now way at this point could I switch to the metric system. I talk with my colleagues in Zurich quite often and they always ask how the weather is here and then we spend like 5 minutes trying to convert back and forth between Celsius and Fahrenheit

I don't think anyone can question you leaving the park whenever the CM's start prepping for a storm - plus you got to rest up some before dinner - so definite win!

I agree Phil, especially the Victoria Gardens, oh so beautiful.

Me either. I can barely remember how many feet are in a yard. Ha ha! Celsius vs Fahrenheit, I actually think it makes sense that 0 is the threshold for above and below freezing.

It was EMH and we were going to enjoy every minute of it so I had to rest up.... yeah, that's my excuse.

A little trivia note to add... Eva Avila was also the winner of the fourth season of "Canadian Idol". ::yes::

AND, I already consider you an honourary Canadian (though you'll have to start using your "u"'s more in certain words). Rest assured, not all Canadians are metric system enthuiasts (I tend to pick and choose), never had a poutine, and do not speak fluid French. So you're alll good!

I'm well aware of the rain aversion that you So-Cal folks have. So no explanation needed. Sugar melts when it gets wet you know. :)

Dishwasher run for ONE GLASS????? No wonder they keep raising ticket prices.

Awww watching that little monorail clip makes me miss you guys. Honestly. AND "Por favor manténganse alejado de las puertas". :lovestruc

Thanks for that Eva trivia Rob. She has an amazing voice! I wasn't aware there was a Canadian AI - see I learn things all the time here. If I spent more time on the Boards just think how smart I'd be? ;)

Well then, I'm going to start writing Canadian too and share some of my favourite things like I love pink coloured MBs 'eh. Sounds like you scored 2 out of 3 of my criteria for being a great Canadian! Now go get yourself some poutine, merci. :lmao:

For us So. Californian's there's weather alerts for an inch of rain. No doubt we will melt if we are out in it!

When you look at it that way, I want mousekeeping to keep their paws off the dishes. :lmao: That or have a note similar to what they have in the bathrooms, 'dishes placed on the floor will be washed and put away, otherwise, you may reuse these items to save the environment!'

Awwwww and of course we miss you too! :goodvibes

I also love the film at Canada. It is one of my favorite hot afternoon activites. My favorite afternoon activity is going back to the room and taking a nap.

For those Circle-vision theaters the A/C is appreciated but one thing they need are spinning seats that can turn to see all the screen, that would be a great addition!

Nap time on vacation just means that you are energized to enjoy more. It's really a good thing! :)

Best wishes to Emily and her guy! I was married at 23 and while it was on the young side of most of my peers, there's something to be said for growing up together in your 20s. We tackled a lot of stuff as a team ( and still do, actually!). Glad to hear your trip adventures will go on too.

Hi there 2eels! Thank you for the kind comment. It is always good to hear those positive stories of life lived out together from a young age. :)

Awww, congrats to Em & her fiance! And to you & Michael as well-- what an exciting time in your lives!!
You know I've never seen any of the WS movies?? We spent lots of time in the countries, but never make it into the movies! I do love a good patriotic song, though, so you may have just sold me on O Canada!

Thanks Kylie! Even though we've been through two kids being married this is far different being our only girl AND the baby.

Between the France, China, and Canada versions of those movies, I adore the Canada one. (I should add Norway in as well even if it is a brief movie.) Try it sometime and see if you don't want to be an honorary Canadian!

Congrats Em and Brenda. That is great news.

Love your trip and dining reports.

Thank you Debbie! How sweet of you to say. :goodvibes

Big Congrats to Em on her engagement!

Thanks so much! :)

Ok... just a tip if you DO decide to become an honorary Canadian: Not all of us eat poutine (I do, on very rare occasions!), not everyone can speak French (oops, I can do that too) and we measure in imperial sometimes too! EEEK! ;)

Hahahaha

I am torn in the rain, if I have a poncho with me, I might wait it out for a bit, but a lot of times I head out too. So I totally understand!

Coming out of lurkdom...

First, congrats to your daughter! I was married at 21 to the man I met and began dating at 16. Everyone thought we were crazy and too young, but here we are 13 years later with a beautiful family, a great life, and I couldn't be happier. I wish nothing but the best for her!

Second, I just love your TR! We were at Disney and saw you in Epcot at La Cantina de San Angel. I wanted to say hello but never got up the nerve.

Hey there Brenda! All caught up on your report...YAY! Your new view from the resort was wonderful! Loved you and Em's princess tees. Breakfast at the Grand looked very nice....french toast is ALWAYS a winner in my book! We have tried to ride Ellen's Energy Adv one time in all of our trips and it broke the moment we loaded onto the cars. How funny that happened this time for you too. I guess this happens a lot maybe? I will miss fastpass so much, it makes me so sad. :( I am with you on the rain thing. Trust me after I spend so much time straightening and taming my out of control wavy hair water, rain, and humidity are my enemies lol. Loved your LeCellier review. DH and I had the chance to finally have lunch here on our recent trip and I was in love! That is funny that Em fell out of the chair...the poor dear. BTW congrats on Em getting engaged!! YAY!! Her ring is so beautiful too!

Hi Jenn! Glad to see you caught up here. :)

I think that morning was the only one from the trip where Em and I just happened to coordinate our Disney wardrobe. (I love your green/blue Dumbo tee that you wore for your last trip.)

I think we could eat Fruit Loops at the Grand and feel like it was a nice meal. Everything just seems nicer there.

I have the opposite issue with hair... no wave, no curl, no nothing. Just fine, straight blah hair.

I agree, I'm a Le Cellier lover especially for that pretzel bread and soup. That unfortunate little incident at LC will be long remembered by my kid.

Thanks! Em's ring is lovely.

As you know already I'm thrilled for the great news concerning Em and her new fiancé Jordan. :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Such an exciting time in your lives, and I'm sure wedding planning will be much fun for you and Em to do together.

As for Canada, never been. In Epcot yes, the real country no, and I've never seen the video, come close but still have yet to see it. It's always a timing thing, we seem to always hit it at the wrong time or find ourselves distracted and off finding something else to get in to, something yummy, like a pastry in France. Ooooor it involves a glass of something calling my name, wine, bellini, adult slushi of some kind, you know how it is on vaca.

The Joe video, OMGoodness!! That is hilarious, I remember the Joe incident in your report, he was very serious about his job, you think he still works for Disney? :confused3

Awwww Camille I know, thank you so much! :lovestruc You are so sweet! We haven't started any planning yet...she's not like me. I would have had a dozen spreadsheets already. I'm definitely looking forward to the planning and being a part of this final leg of her journey on her way to being a married woman.

Seeing as how there are more than a few competing things to do in Epcot I can completely see the reason behind not seeing the Canada movie. If you need a cool a/c attraction for about 20 minutes it's a great place to hang out. Plus, I'm a big Martin Short fan so him narrating the movie is perfect.

Hey once I have a bellini or glass of wine or two I don't start to care what movies they have inside the pavilions. :lmao: Ahhh vacation cocktails!

I'm not sure if "Joe" still works for Disney but I haven't seen him on the CR monorail crew. Poor guy, he may be just as charming as can be and had a moment that one night. :duck:

Thanks for catching up my friend!

Yay Em! Do we hear Mickey wedding bells?! I'm totally anxious to see if they chose to get married in WDW.

Thanks Rebecca! Unfortunately they won't get married in WDW since there's too many people to travel that far but there may be a Disneymoon. We shall see.

I hope all is going well with your pregnancy! :)

BTW: I went back and read your HDDR update in your TR since we booked that next trip. It sounds like a lot of fun.

Canada is a beautiful country! I went to Quebec City my sophomore year and had a blast. I actually saw the hotel the Hogwarts-esque building in the Canada pavilion is based off of. But that wasn't even the prettiest part of Canada I got the chance to see. So... shameless plug for Canada, totally acceptable. And I think Poutine is delicious!

Rain wimps? Psh. A Florida rainstorm is something NOBODY wants to get caught in. I would probably head for the Land if I was in EPCOT, but you had already been there most of the day so it makes sense. Love the pictures you got of SE though! They actually look really cool.

Sorry, your Monsters Inc. cupcake wasn't that great, but I would've bought it just for that Mike Wazowski ring. Totally worth it.

"That Joe monorail dude" lol I wouldn't be surprised if he was banished to the parking lot either. Sounds like the guy who would/should be from your story haha

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

You are far more the Canada expert than I! Having eaten Poutine you are almost a native Canadian at this point. I would love to see more of Canada some day - outside of Epcot!

Yep, I'm a certified rain wimp. I see storm clouds approaching and we exit post haste. I'm sure all the die hard park fans are thrilled since it usually doesn't rain for long.

I agree! A $3.99 Mike ring is right in there with Disney prices so I think the cupcake was free with the purchase of the ring.

Poor "Joe" may be working the parking lot! I hope they give him a rain poncho. :lmao:

Such good timing you guys have with the rain! I don't blame you for ducking out. As for the water park, we actually went to Blizzard Beach once when it was raining. We figured we were gonna get wet anyway may as well go! Such a nice view of the sun setting over the parking lot! The clouds look so pretty!

P.S. I have started a trip report for the coast to coast challenge!

Hi Katie! Thanks for sharing your TR link! I'm so impressed with your running achievements. That Boston Marathon tribute to the MIT officer

That's a great point... if you are going to get wet anyway, why not play in the rain? Sounds good to me. I just don't want to play in water with a side of lightning!

I fell behind! I'm so sorry. I'm catching up now.

What a nice momma you are letting Em sleep in.

ToT is always worth it! I would wait 30 minutes for that anytime.

I too would feel overwhelmed and need to have a carrot cake cookie. They're just so awesome.

The Colossal Man is the best part of Sci Fi. Every time it comes on, I just chuckle endlessly.

Wow, you were having a lot of Marilyn moments that day! I'm gonna say it's because you're fabulous!

I hate being late to reservations too! I'm glad you were only 5 minutes late.

Freeze dried ice cream is hard to describe. When I was a kid, I was in love with it. The flavor is good, it just kind of melts away in your mouth, like meringue cookies.

Again, congrats to Em on the engagement! That's such happy news. :goodvibes

No worries Danielle! I'm not sure which of your TR I need to get caught up on but I'm sure it's at least one.

Yeah, I'm an awesome mom like that. Other than making my kid fall out of her chair at Le Cellier. :rotfl2:

You mentioned my two favorite things about DHS - Tot and carrot cake cookies. And the Amazing Colossal Man ... I just looked up that 1957 movie on Youtube and I have to say that Sci-Fi picked the best of the clips!

Ahhhh I like meringue cookies. I'm more convinced than ever that I need to try that stuff.

Thanks Danielle! :goodvibes

Such exciting news! My bff's daughter is getting married in January 2015 so we're well in the swing of wedding planning, so much fun! Please pass on my best wishes to the happy couple!

I am Canadian and I weep every time I hear the song! I am very fortunate that I have been from one coast to the other (the perks of having a father in the military) and every province is gorgeous IMO! If you ever find yourself on the prairies give me a shout....we have a spare room!;)

Hi Jacquie! Your kind wishes are appreciated!

I have a good friend whose father was Canadian military as well and when I first asked her where she was from in Canada she said all over! That's great that you have been able to live and see so much of your beautiful country. I do hope to see more than BC some day.

As much as i hate to admit it, and it does not happen very often...Disney naps are the BEST!!!

Ha ha! I WILL admit it... you are right! :lmao:

Great update! :)

Thanks Wii!

Canada the song is so beautiful. I must admit that I'm kinda obsessed with singing it in the car and yes I butcher the french part but that's the thing is I took spanish not french. Haha. It's fun while we're in the car and Olivia screams "Not this song again!"

I hear ya, I have no idea what the French words are. I rather mumble them like in the Lion King song Circle of Life. I have no clue.

Argh!! Oh man! I rebooked our trip for July since my DH will be starting a new job (hopefully) by Sept. :sad2: I actually haven't cancelled our September resort reservations yet since I still hold out a little hope but I did book a July trip for me and Em that works with her schedule. I'm so sorry! :(

Hi Kristin! If you are unsure about Mission Space you can try the tamer green experience that I don't believe spins as much. Disney did a great job with making the experience feel like you are blasting off. It doesn't hurt that I'm a Gary Sinise fan either.

We've gone in February many times and love the weather much better than August! ::yes:: Except for President's Week which is very crowded it's a great time to visit.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to helping Em plan the wedding. :)

That cupcake....YUM!!

Rainy day naps are pretty nice!

Love the mother/daughter photo at the end!

I'm looking to expand my cupcake horizons next trip. Anything funfetti is usually good.

Ha ha! yes, rain and naps go together quite well.

Thanks!

Love it! He did well with the ring. Did she have any input or was it a complete surprise?

No input at all for the ring, it was a surprise. Her fiancé spent 4 hours in the jewelry store trying to find the perfect one for her. He did well.

Will they be going to school? I don't know that I've heard what Emily plans to do. So exciting :goodvibes hopefully you can get a girls trip in before the wedding...and after!

Yes, school is in the plans for both. Her fiancé does quite well. In fact, she wouldn't have to work in that relationship but being MY daughter and a bit of a strong independent type she is going down the path of wanting her own career. And speaking of another girl trip... just booked a July trip. :cool1:

Now the real question is, has Jordan been to WDW yet?

ha ha!! No, Jordan is a Disneyland fan. That is their Sunday thing but he's never been to WDW. I can tell you that will likely change soon!

Oh that drives me nuts, so wasteful! I do like controlling all that myself with DVC I must admit

Isn't that crazy? I wouldn't be bothered if they left the glass in the sink. I don't mind doing dishes myself.

I am envious, I cannot nap to save my soul.

What a lovely interlude in Canada. Sorry the funfetti was meh. I have a mini DL trip update in my last set of updates, hoping we can hook up if it works out for you (and Em too!) :goodvibes

Thanks Cynthia! I thought I saw your DL trip update.. I'll have to go back and see if I commented. YES, I am hoping we connect as well. I recall your dates are somewhere around the 19th into the following week??? I should PM you my phone # so we can text each other and confirm. :)

great trip report

Thank you!!

And I'm so glad that you are joining. Welcome! :goodvibes

Thank you Roni! We are excited for her and Jordan. I don't want to see mother/daughter trips end and they will be all the more special if there are grandkids.

Yep, 1 glass = how many gallons of water to clean it?? :confused3 Crazy huh?

Thanks Alicia! I'm glad to hear your story. I completely trust the decision of the kids and know that they have prayed about it and know it is right for them.

Oh my, great job knowing the song. It is the perfect accompaniment to the movie. :)

Doesn't that cupcake look good? It's been so long since I tried it that I looked at it and thought, heck, I'd order that again! Good think I have notes that tell me otherwise. :lmao:

Happy early birthday and I hope you enjoy your trip to Vegas!!!! :cake:

Hi Sandy! Thank you for the well wishes. Oh, I love your story. My parents were married young and have been together over 50 years. I'm looking forward to the wedding planning.

Ha ha!! Yes, if you are drinking around the World then you may as well take a break in some of the WS theaters. :thumbsup2

Funny but at home I never take naps... I'm always doing something. But at Disney there's a certain lull in our day that makes it fit nicely. That or I'm getting old and not admitting to it here.

Hi Kathy! Well..... now you know about that. :( I didn't cancel my part so you never know.. I may show up and surprise you.

Ahh to see the real Canada would be so cool. You're right, you would have what about a 8 hour drive?? Not sure the distance. I've been to BC on a cruise stop so that was only a day so I shouldn't say that I've really visited it much. However, it was lovely and I enjoyed what we did see.

You may be right about the nap! The rain was just the excuse.
