DREAMing, some MAGIC and a little bit of Paris! Trip report link!

Lovely photos from DLP Karin
I've never visited over Christmas but the decorations look lovely :)

It is very beautiful at Christmas, Linda, you should give it a try once. :goodvibes All the decorations and music got us right back into the spirit, even at the beginning of January. :thumbsup2

I just love the castle there!!!
Does it feel like disney to you there? I had some issues with DL not feeling as Disney to me as WDW does. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but it was different.

It is a beautiful castle, modelled after a few European castles, they took bits and pieces from for inspiration. :goodvibes
Jen, we have never had a problem with it not feeling like Disney. We started out at DL in California and fell in love with it. It was a bit of a shock when we visited WDW for the first time - the size was just sooooooooo big. But we had been to DLRP before, so we knew what it was like before going to WDW.

Love those decorations on the tree. I don't know why I thought of this, but I wonder if anyone has tried to steal an ornament from the tree? Or maybe they're stuck on somehow?

They had used a different tree for years, so we were in awe with the new decorations. They were so cute.
As for stealing some ornaments - I guess they are well "secured" on the tree and then, they are higher up as well. It's not like the tree goes down to the street, but there is a whole huge train set underneath it. ;)

Not sure if you saw this... I know you love Krispie Kremes...

Ah, thanks for the link! :goodvibes
Do these doughnuts, which we had in February look familiar?

:love:YAY decorations :santa: It looks crowded Karin, I guess from the people awaiting the parade ??

The decorations were beautiful, Jeanette. :goodvibes
And yes, it WAS crowded, reason being that we are always dependent on my school holidays and this was another holiday weekend. ;)

It does look crowded, but the Christmas decorations are so festive and you did a great job of photographing the uniqueness of the season! Love it!

It was crowded, but we are used to crowded parks, :lmao: since we always have to travel when there is a holiday.
We were so taken by the fact that it still felt so much like Christmas there, even though we were way into the new year. Disney does an awesome job with its decorations in the parks. :thumbsup2

Day 2, January 4
Christmas is still in the air ……- Part 3

We crossed the street and headed into the Art Shop and when we left it we heard that the Christmas Parade was about to come down Main Street.
We looked around for a nice spot to watch it and walked further and further down Main Street

and finally found quite a nice spot close to where the Parade ends.

They have had the same parade last year as well, but we were pleasantly surprised to see more characters, which stretched out the parade quite a bit.

The spa looks really nice! I wish we could get 3 week spa stay as part of our medical benefits. :)

Awesome parade pics! Everything looks so festive!

That's true, I forget you're stuck with the teaching schedule. But you always seem to have amazing trips Karin!!!

Love the pics, Karin. :)

I am so sorry Tom is still suffering with back pain. :( The Spa looks very peaceful - do hope they have been able to help the pain. Gentle hugs

That parade looks like so much fun. I love all the pictures you got of Mickey...he looks great in that green coat!

How is Tom doing at the spa? It's probably too soon to tell, but does he feel a difference? What gorgeous views at the spa though!

Great pictures of the parade!

Well... I just wanted to make sure you got your donuts!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

How were they?

Karin, loved the parade pictures!

Hope Tom is doing well with his spa treatments and getting some relief from his pain.

Lots of fun parade pics!:thumbsup2

It's so nice to see more US Disney touches in Paris. Don't get me wrong, it IS a full Disney park, but things like parades and fireworks were lacking. ;)

All insurance companies here pay for that kind of treatment. 3 weeks every two years.
Tom really enjoys it. It is like an all expenses paid vacation. :rotfl2: AND he gets his salery on top of it as well. :lmao:

No fun being stuck with the teaching schedule. ;) But at least we have 9 weeks paid vacation in the summer. :thumbsup2
Our Paris trip was really nice - we enjoyed it a lot - can't wait for our summer visit - 9 nights/10 days of Disney fun. :dance3:

Thanks Christine!
He will have to live with "some" back pain, but at least they were/are able to help him a bit. He feels really good at the moment and is enjoying his stay there very much. :thumbsup2

It was such an improvement from last years "small" parade! And yes, they dress up the characters really well in their festive attire. It IS cold here, so I guess they need to be dressed apropriately. :goodvibes

Great pictures of the parade!

Lesha, thanks for asking. He is doing pretty well. He gets up to 7 treatments a day and has a pass that allows him to use the huge spa (indoor and outdoor pools) for free.
It's hard to get a hold of him as he seems to always be doing something.

I spent my last two weekends there too and it was amazing. I have a few :rotfl2: photos to post once I am done with replies.

Well... I just wanted to make sure you got your donuts!!! :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

How were they?

Thanks for thinking of us when you saw the advert. They were really good! :thumbsup2

Karin, loved the parade pictures!

Hope Tom is doing well with his spa treatments and getting some relief from his pain.

I am glad you liked the parade pics. I was a bit worried as there were so many, but they were just too much fun to leave some out.

Tom is doing well and his back is much better at the moment. Not so sure when he goes back to hauling big crates of mail around. :scared:

I'm surprised - I wonder why they didn't have them before:confused3 Parades and fireworks are so classic Disney!

It was/is not completely owned by Disney and this being Europe they had a lot of things in their way. There was a "fireworks ban" for some years (they were only allowed "so many" fireworks a year). Now, Disney is buying back shares to get the majority again and we have seen many "Disney changes" like those parades - the fantastic Disney Dreams show and more rides at the studios. I was always jealous how there are daily fireworks in the US parks, now we are getting our share as well. :cheer2:

Glad Tom is enjoying the SPA!!! Great news about DLP having better fireworks and Parades !!!! I am determined today to catch up on all my threads !!

Oooh, if DLP gets more "Disney Changes" I might have to think about a trip back to that side of the world again!

Great to see the holiday pictures. I know about being busy, I've not been on the boards since Feb.28. I haven't had very much internet access since then.

It's great being able to go to a spa for physical therapy, no insurance coverage like that here!
