"ENCHANTED TALES with ROB" - A Birthday/Christmas DISer Celebration! **NEW TR LINK**

Those cheetahs, man, they sure are good at hiding! I don't even know how many times I went on the safari before I even knew there were freaking cheetahs in it.

GREAT picture of you with the frame! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

People who take photos with iPads... :sad2::sad2::sad2: I don't know anyone who doesn't think that is the stupidest thing ever, so who are these people who still do this?!?

I don't think I will ever tire of the Safari...it's just amazing! Everytime you ride is so different....Chester....love it!

What an awesome shirt! Love it.

The safaris are just the best. That & the festival of the lion king. :) we saw hippos out of the water once but they looked pretty sunburned, so I felt bad. Go back in the water, hippo! The giraffes are just an amazing sight to see, aren't they? Great shot of the cheetah! They're always chillin in the shade, those guys.

Goofy as Santa is the best. I love those 2 together, they're so cute. Good decision on jumping in that line! I don't get people who carry their tablets around for pictures either. First, you could probably take a better quality photo with your phone & 2, I don't want to carry that thing around. (& you just look silly.)

Santa Goofy is just too cute! I love your shirt-what a thoughtful birthday present! I'm hoping you had a chance to ride EE...

Great telephoto lense photo of the cheetah!!!! There's your next custom disney tshirt Rob!!! Awesome stuff. Can't wait to hear about your evening later!!!

Haha, why thank you. I'm so grateful I decided to look closer. Yeah, that would be a pretty cool shirt. This day is just gonna get better and better for sure. Stay tuned!

You've tapped on one of my pet peeves... people taking pics or videos with their ipads.

It bothers me for multiple reasons but mostly because I'm short and on occasion my entire view was blocked because of those.

Oh my, I just don't understand it and probably never will. Obviously the "blocking" is a big issue, not to mention the light it gives off at night. But mostly I just don't understand why when there are SO MANY CHEAP CAMERAS available. The mysteries of life.

Rob I don't know why you couldn't see that cheetah, he was clearly there under the tree!! :lmao:

ELEPHANTS! I'm still bitter that our safari completely missed out on a single pachyderm. I need to go again. Maybe next month.

Oh and nice shirt! It's so you.

Glad to see you continuing your tradition of the frames FP pose with EE in the background. It's the best spot to pose. Just once I'd like to take the bike that is parked there and ask if I can use it as a prop.

I'm bummed that I didn't even know about the characters in Dinoland. Great pose with the pooches! I would have loved to have a PP of those two. I should have consulted you more for those details.

I know, I'm just so blind. But luckily through technology I was finally able to spot him there the whole time.

Yes yes yes, rub it it, you're going back again already. Kidding, I'm happy for you. And HOPEFULLY you will indeed see those elusive pachyderms. I'm confident you will.

Thank you Brenda. Someone VERY thoughtful picked that out. I couldn't love it more. :lovestruc

I really liked this one too since I was really able to get the whole of Everest inside the frame, which is kinda the point I think. The others around the World make it tough to get the proper background. Or just take it for a spin. Animal Kingdom is tiring.

Oh no you didn't???? I honestly don't know why I never mentioned it. I do recall that your AK time that day was relatively short. But bummer.

I have to admit that there was so much on again / off again news about Avatar that I wasn't completely sure they started it until recently. I'm actually a fan. I think its going to be cool.

:rotfl2: I think this same thing - "Why do I need ONE more hippo picture?" and then inevitably I take it anyway!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2::rotfl2: That IS funny!

Great picture!

I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for Lilly. She is such a cutie.

Love your B-day T!

Really funny update. Worth risking running late for work this morning!

Oh that is true Mary Ellen. I think these folks had never heard a thing about it at all. I'll be honest, I'm in the wait and see camp on this one. I really do think the Imagineers will pull off something truly special though.

I think there is some rule that says you have to or you'll be kicked out.

So excited to see the Cheetah!!!

I love that one too. I find it very natural.

I remember seeing Lilly way back when she was born. It's kind of like seeing your kid grow up in a way.

Oh me too. Just perfect and REALLY perfect for the day yet to come.

Aww thanks. I sure do hope it didn't make you late for work though.

Aren't the gorillas amazing?? We loved seeing them on our last trip -- they were really "hamming it up" for the crowd!

Sad, sad news that EE was closed!

Santa Goofy is so fun!

Looking forward to hearing about the rest of your AK day! :cool1:

Julie, I LOVE watching the Gorillas. I usually spend a lot of time there even if I'm not taking pictures. I just love watching them.

That was a big bummer. My fav ride down and Splash down last time I tried to ride it. Not a good trend.

Goofy is one of my favourite characters to meet. ALWAYS fantastic. But in his Santa outfit... Priceless.

It's a pretty good day to come I think.

Love the cheetah photo. Did you get orange dust on your shutter button?

Bahahaha, Thank you, and happily I refrained from leaving orange dust anywhere.

The birthday shirt looks great!

LOL "Under Those Trees", so helpful! :rotfl:

Love the photos in front of EE! Stinks that it was down though.

Yay Santa Goofy & Pluto!! Great pics with them :thumbsup2

Thanks Alexis. I absolutely love it.

It just really cracked me up. He was so serious too.

I really love the "frame" photos they do now too. And yeah, it sucked that is was down, but I was hopeful they'd get it going during my FP time.

Seeing Santa Goofy here with low wait was a great trade off to the better backdrop at DHS. I pretty much always prefer the shorter wait.

Well, it's good to know the cheetah was there...somewhere. :lmao:

What a bummer that Everest was down. Animal Kingdom doesn't have a lot of headline attractions. Don't get me wrong, what it does have is amazing and well worth a visit to the park, but when one thing is unoperational, you can kind of tell in other parts of the park.

Wow, I had no idea Santa Goofy was so popular. Guess I never thought of it before. In the end, I guess EE being down wasn't such a bad thing, since you were able to do that character meet and greet. :thumbsup2

Wow!! They have made HUGE progress on FOTLK!! Back in August, I remember seeing the walls up but not seeing anything else.

I always LOVE when I can help folks out with their touring questions!! :thumbsup2

Headless giraffes!! :scared1: Good thing he found himself again.

That area for meeting in Dinoland was one of my "not so well-known" favorite spots for greeting. The lines there were always so much shorter than other park spots.

"Those" people with the IPads drive me :crazy2:. The worst!! I guess they just don't care that they are blocking someone's entire view behind them. I have enough trouble with my vertically challenged self as it is without being further inhibited by an 8x10 (or maybe 11x14) sized video wall in front of my face. :upsidedow Thank you. I feel better now for venting!

Oh absolutely. I'm curious what it looks like now. I can't wait to see it when it's done.

Isn't it awesome??? I just take so much joy in it and people are usually so genuinely appreciative too.

OMG Yes, I was a little worried there.

Oh, without a doubt. Most people have absolutely no clue about it unless they just happen to be passing by. There's no signage or anything.

OH vent away. I generally don't have an issue in the sense that I'm a live and let live type. And it is absolutely a problem for many people blocking views and giving off a HUGE amount of light. But in the end I just cannot understand why someone would want to use it in that fashion. I just can't resolve that in my head at all.

AK is my favourite park so I am especially enjoying this last installment. I saw Lilly when she was less than two weeks old - she was so adorable. I have so many photos of her over the years! It's been fun watching her grow up.

And the cheetah photo is perfect!

I don't comment often but I'm reading along and loving it.

TP

Glad to hear that Teresa. There's still a few more AK updates still to come. I just can't believe how much Lilly has grown. It is fun to see the changes over time.

Hehe... Now we all know the Cheetah is real.

Totally ok Teresa. Glad to see you're still there. :)

I could see vague Disney touring advice becoming a meme:

"If you look to the left you will see the cheetah under those trees"

"Just go past Spaceship Earth and you will get to the Norway Pavilion."

"Oh, sorry Anna and Elsa moved .... you can find them in one of the other parks"

"The 3 O'clock parade will start exactly this afternoon"

"Why yes you can meet Mickey Mouse ... I'd say checking either in Disney World or Disney Land would be most efficient"

"Disney IT will get right on fixing that"

Phil, these all need to go on shirts!!! Pronto!

I'm impressed by your endless energy. Late nights AND early mornings? :thumbsup2

Oh how I wish I too could live in such a state of ignorant bliss... :worried:

I'd pay extra to see that.

All it takes is a little bit of zoom. It's pretty obvious really. (And why would you post something like that when I have absolutely no fake cheese snack foods in my house!? :rotfl2: )

EE was down too? Yikes, that does call into question maintenance practices. :rolleyes2

SANTA GOOFY! He's so cute! I didn't know he meets in Dinoland! And Pluto too, how adorable. Love the PP pics! :thumbsup2

I get the biggest kick out of the tablets as cameras. I mean, my mom uses her iPad mini to take pictures sometimes because it's 1000x better than her p&s camera, so I guess in a way I get it, but even still. She gets all self conscious when she does. And it's pretty inconvenient to carry them around everywhere! :rotfl:

Haha, Unfortunately it only seems to exist in WDW. At home... not so much.

Well you could if you never ever read or look at anything ever I suppose.

Sign me up for that too!!! Seriously, how awesome would that be??

Nothing but zoom. Just think of all the panoramic landscape shots out there currently unexplored and the treatures contained within? And... time for a grocery store run!!!!

Yeah, and it's been happening more and more often. There's only so many fountains I can photograph in lieu.

OMG he is!!! Yup, they meet there all year in I believe their Dino Digging outfits. I have always wanted a Santa Goofy photo.

Wendy, I will never get it. Humans are just weird.

I have actually seen the hippos out of the water but it's not much more of a thrill then when they are in the water. I think they mostly sleep all day! :rotfl:

LOL on the Cheetahs and your "lazy" tour guide. Most of them will at least make an effort to tell you which tree they are under even though they are still hard to spot.

That sucks that EE was down, hopefully it was back up later in the day for you.

That Pluto/Goofy meet and greet is my favorite place to meet my favorite guy! I love that the line is shaded and even in your "crowded" picture it was still probably only a 15 minute wait. And bonus that they are in their Christmas costumes!

Haha, that is very true. But I'd take anything that was at least different.

It just struck me as so funny. I'd never heard a guide be that vague before. Yes, they've pointed out animals I couldn't see, but they at least gave you more of a chance.

I'm a little concerned as I kind of expect Splash down always, and now EE is getting more common as well. I think it may return though.

Oh totally, it would still be a relatively short wait. It did keep building a bit after that photo, but nothing insane. I was just glad I knew beforehand so I avoided most of the wait. And the Santa outfit was SO NECESSARY!!! I do wish Pluto was a bit more festive, but whatever. Pluto's still great anyway.

You have to take all the same animals pictures you take every time because the guide says at the beginning to have those cameras ready, wouldn't want to not follow the rules :rotfl:

Headless giraffe too cute!

Haha cheetah somewhere, too funny but so true with most of those guides!

Boo for Everest being down : (

Ahh Santa Goofy! So awesome and I love your strategy ;)

Well you know that's true Jess. I am nothing if not a rule follower. That makes perfect sense.

Hehe, it cracked me up. I thought we had the new go to thing to lead the Boo to You Parade.

OMG that line just floored me. Like, WHAT??!!! You do realize there's more than one tree right??

Aww I know. It made my 8 rides a couple of days prior that much more important.

Love Goofy anyway, but SANTA GOOFY!!!! Super awesome. The strategy definitely paid off.

I mean, in the couple's defense, I'd be much happier if I didn't know that Avatarland was a thing. But that's for another day.

:lmao: at the cheetah under the trees. Can't believe I missed him the first time.

SANTA GOOFY!!! He's the best.

I saw a TON of iPad photographers when I was in Italy. I thought it might just be a Disney thing but apparently it's worldwide.

Hahahaha, I'm keeping an open mind. I don't particularly like that it's Avatar (but stay tuned for an upcoming post), but the area itself I think will be amazing.

It just goes to show that sometimes you just have to trust in your guide!

I LOVED that meet Courtney. How do you beat Goofy in a Santa Suit???

It needs to stop, lol. I understand people like to carry them with them, and I'm ok with that. But STOP PRETENDING IT'S A CAMERA!!!

Mary Ellen beat me to the exact two comments I was going to make-

Love the "hiding" gorilla picture and

Hilarious Cheetah photo!

The guide must have assumed everyone would see the cheetah since it is always spotted! ;)

That's not a headless giraffe... he is just doing an ostrich impression.

That's all I got!

:goodvibes

Haha you gotta be quick to beat her.

I really like that photo too. He just seems so natural to to me.

Keep your eye out for that cheetah on your next safari!!!!

AHHHH where's the "Groan" smiley? Actually, that was pretty good.

OMG too funny because I actually considered that statement. Which is good because I had to leave something for you guys.

Chester Cheetah :rotfl:

Awwww I love Santa Goofy!! Wonder why he wasn't out in February? Ha.

Isn't funny how some things you just take the same picture of over and over again? I tried so hard not to do that this time. I have at least five different (and yet, somehow, the same) pictures of the elephant from the Jungle Cruise.

Make sure to keep an eye out for him next trip!!!

Haha, I'm so glad I knew about this beforehand. It made getting a photo so much easier.

This is just one of those things that can't be helped. Do I really need another picture of the castle? Umm... YES!

Now I am just going to be disappointed if I don't see Chester on the safari! I have seen so many TR with AK Safari pictures (mine included), but Chester under the trees, hands down is my favorite.

What a great pic with Goofy and Pluto! One dog and one "dog"? I'm still not sure Goofy counts as dog, but I'm not a vet.

Can't wait to keep reading!

Aww thanks Elena. Just make sure you keep looking. You never know when you might see him.

That is the question of the ages, no doubt. So many questions like why does Goofy talk (and wear clothes) but Pluto doesn't? Why does Mickey wear pants, but Donald doesn't? The eternal questions of the universe.

YAY!!

OMG RIGHT??!! Even more elusive than the lions.

Aww thanks!!! I am so happy they started doing this, and this one is for sure my fav. It's one of the few where you can actually get the background in properly!

I just don't understand it. I look at it like Jurassic Park. Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

I don't think I will ever tire of the Safari...it's just amazing! Everytime you ride is so different....Chester....love it!

That's the real draw of the Safari too Jacquie. You could do it all day and every time would be different. Which was totally proven by the Chester appearance. Who knew??

What an awesome shirt! Love it.

The safaris are just the best. That & the festival of the lion king. :) we saw hippos out of the water once but they looked pretty sunburned, so I felt bad. Go back in the water, hippo! OMG Me too. So incredibly thoughtful of Brenda.

They really are and always unique. And FotLK... :faint: I too once saw the hippos out and moving in the underwater viewing area.

That was cool. Giraffes are my absolute fav land animal (dolphins overall). I never tire of seeing them. But how exciting to finally spot a cheetah.

Santa Goofy was a top priority this trip made even better since Pluto is there too. The tablet as camera thing is just beyond my level of understanding I guess. Live and let live. But do NOT block my view of something, and be prepared to be made fun of.

Santa Goofy is just too cute! I love your shirt-what a thoughtful birthday present! I'm hoping you had a chance to ride EE...

Isn't he awesome??? A perfect Santa. Hoestly, I'm still blown away that she brought that shirt with her for my birthday. I truly love it. Stay tuned to see if EE makes an appearance.

All you have to do is look closely Alisha. Make sure to go through your own photos. You never know what you might see.

Oh without a doubt. With EE down AND Kali in refurb, it does take away a lot. I'd be more upset as a first timer. For me, it wasn't that big of a deal. But yeah, you definitely notice the impact.

For sure. He's crazy popular at DHS which is why I made sure to meet him here with a lot less wait. This meet was happening no matter what.

Rob, can totally relate how good it feels when you get to "show off" your Disney knowledge and know-how. I felt that way our entire trip in January thanks to my brother who as you know by now knows very little to nothing about Disney in general. He at one point tried to stump me by pulling what he thought was random trivia from an online search while we were driving to MK: "When was alcohol first sold in the Magic Kingdom?" What he didn't know was that MASSIVE and often contentious debate that BOG selling alcohol brought on the DIS boards and I was able to answer that question very confidently down to the month/year. :rotfl:

Loved your headless giraffe picture - even more than I did of Chester the Cheetah. :thumbsup2

So as you commented about taking pictures with a tablet (by the way, the lady in the picture appears to have a keyboard that's hanging down from the tablet just to make this more amusing. :rotfl:) - I'm with you in that personally it just makes me feel very uncomfortable and wrong watching people do this. But hey, if the picture taker is ok with it then I can't argue as long as they're not using this technique in a dark ride or in front of me during a night time entertainment.

So I am late to the party...really late actually because I am still reading "If this is a dream..." I wanted to read that one first before starting this one but...well... I am not a very patient person.

Plus I have not been back to WDW for several years so I am living vicariously through you.

I love reading trip reports because it proves to me that there are people that feel the way I do about WDW and are brought to tears during WISHES (or in my case simply by walking through the tunnel under the train station)

Any way, just wanted you to know I am here. I also friended you on FB (Maureen Daehn Carlson) and followed you on Twitter (@usd2bmd), so now you know what the woman is that followed you from New York. Can't wait to read more.

Finally caught up again, after falling behind a bit. :)

I bought the Glow Ears after Fantasmic, yes that's right AFTER Fantasmic. They were expensive and I didn't even have them for the show but I think they are really awesome looking and even though I never wore them, I am happy to have them. :)

So happy that you got to meet all the Country Bears, especially Big Al. Great Picture with them.

I love your name for Wishes, Merry ChristWishes. Disney totally needs you on their marketing team. :goodvibes

Awesome pictures as usual of the parade and the fireworks. How have I never noticed the Smiley Face before????? Must be that I am so in awe of the whole show I just missed it.

Anyway loving your report as usual and looking forward to the next update.

Hey Rob! Sorry I have been absent for awhile but I am all caught up now! It's funny how at this point we were just a little off from each other on our park selections. Seemed liked a good day to be at AK though from your pictures! Your safari pics were great. What in the world was with the giraffe lol? Loved the insert of Chester on your safari ride too. Glad to see you like the gorillas on the trail....I however feel that they stare at us as if wanting to rip us limb to limb lol. Sorry to see that Everest was down but glad to see that it gave you an excuse to meet Santa Goofy!

Absolutely Dave, it's one of my favourite "side" things to do in Disney. Especially being solo you overhear so many bizarre things being said and some general comments and it's all I can do not to interject. Of course, sometimes I do depending on the situation, but when someone point blank asks a question like that, I imagine I positively glow. But how funny with your brother trying to stump you. It's so hard not to be a little smug in that situation.

Can't you just picture him riding a horse leading the Boo to You parade?

OMG I know, the attached keyboard REALLY put me over the edge. And that's right, I really could care less if you want to look like that. No judging (but it looks ridiculous). But please stop holding it over your head and blocking people's views. And please stop taking it out in the dark. There's enough light emitting to land a plane.

So I am late to the party...really late actually because I am still reading "If this is a dream..." I wanted to read that one first before starting this one but...well... I am not a very patient person.

Maureen, I never use the word late just fashionably late. :thumbsup2 I am so very happy to WELCOME you to the party. Thank you so much for being here and thank you for reading the last TR. That trip meant a lot to me so it was a HUGE surprise when this current one overtook it.

Aww I'm saddened that it's been so long, but thrilled you're about to remedy that in a few months.

Yeah, I completely agree. All the reports I've read made me realize I'm not the only one who gets emotional. And Wishes, well, that puts me over the top. And this trip in particular will have LOTS of unexpected tears, that's for sure.

I'm so glad you are here and that you found me on FB and Twitter (though Twitter hardly ever gets used I must admit).

Yay, glad you're all caught up!

I just wanted them to have them truthfully. After the party, I never wore them again, but I'm still glad I have a pair. They're a must have regardless.

Oh me too. I love that Big Bear, and this was sincerely a dream come true.

THANK YOU!!!! OMG I would LOVE to be there giving these ideas. I have so many others that I've never even spoken of.

Oh gee thank you. I love those Christmas themed shows so much. Wow really??? The smiley face always makes me giggle every single time. The timed sound effects are perfect.

THANK YOU!!!!

I know it's crazy being there at the same time Jen, but just in different places. AK really was perfect that day crowd wise. OMG that giraffe just completely caught me off guard. Thank goodness he raised his head. And you gotta love proof that the cheetah does exist (and just wait 2 updates from now when I captured something even more amazing)!!!
I can't lie. I love watching the gorillas but they legit terrify me. The sheer power they posses is truly scary.
I was bummed Everest was down, but it wasn't a planned thing anyway as I still had a FP to use (hopefully). Santa Goofy WAS planned though for sure.

Oooh I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve! And yes gorillas are so freaking scary lol. They just sit there glaring at you and you know they are thinking "if I can find a way to hop over this barrier to the other side I am going to kill you all" lol.

Good on you getting your genius recognized by pointing out Avatar information! I love sharing my knowledge. And looking like I know everything. Really, they go hand in hand. :lmao:

What a cheetah sighting!!!!!

I ask myself all the time what is up with the iPad photographers! You look like a tool. And that particular person in your photo is more offensive, because they have the KEYBOARD HANGING OUT! Just....no. :rolleyes2

"Just once I'd like to see one of them jump into their tutu and dance ala Fantasia." BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA CAN WE MAKE THIS HAPPEN??

Umm yes I am agreeing...pictures of hippos...eh...Giraffes.. YES

Sooooo... Maybe if we analyze and zoom in a little bit...

11.jpg

Ahhh, see there ya go... He was right all along...

OMG I AM DYING :lmao: :rotfl:

"And yeah, well done with your tablet photo (I will never understand this phenomenon)." OMG SO MUCH YES
iPadography <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

:)Hi Rob. Spent the better part of this weekend reading your TR. Time well spent. It was great! We checked in 12/27 and stayed through New Years week. The Christmas decorations are still up, and you can still see the Osborne lights. Nothing like seeing the Candlelight procession, dinner at France and the New Years eve fireworks at EPCOT. Love your other TR's as well. Looking forward for the updates.

It must have been killing you to have your beloved EE down? But then again, the times before probably helped to take down the edge :P

I do love your shirt. It's classic and awesome.

Also, poor unsuspecting people who didn't know about Avatarland. I imagine that would be quite the shock. I am bummed about FOTLK being down so long though. On our trip it still won't be open and we've got two friends who have been dancing their whole lives and would super appreciate it and now we can't show them :(

Santa Goofy! I wish I got to meet him. Someday it's a goal to go during December to do all the Christmas stuff, since we only got a portion of it when we went in November.
