From 8 to 80!Seeing the Magic through a new set of eyes-Updated7/15-NEW TR LINK pg 28

Really, really, really GREAT costumes and fantastic character meet pics. I can't wait to see what your costume will be for the Rock Your Disney 24 hour event. Any hints???? :)

Thank you so much!!! They were a blast! Lol!! I'm actually not sure about the 24 hr event costume yet! Steven wanted to do Rapunzel & Flynn but our plans changed around and the other girl coming, it's her first trip, and her favsies is Rapunzel so I'm debating between a few currently lol. None of them big "classics" and nothing ballgown-ey or involving wings lol :) I did really think doing Move It Shake It outfits for the 24 hr would be AMAZING, but the bff would kill me if I did it without her before Sept! Lol

I wish I could go to MNSSHP more than once! And can you brush off some of your creativity so that I can make some costumes at least half as nice as you or even so I can come up with an idea!

It really is amazing and awesome and I would seriously spend a solid month down in Fl and JUST go to parties!! Ahahahahaha, there's SO MANY options that I always want to do, so many awesome characters. Most of my costumes are custom made/bought off etsy, so that helps too! Lol

I could hear it…heck… I could hear it before it even started, and I was BEYOND excited!! Mom had seen the parade the year before, but only once, and Anne had never seen it, so I simply said that it was WITHOUT A DOUBT my favorite parade that Disney EVER did, like, words cannot express. Soon enough I was dancing along with the music and waving to the characters like the child I am…

RRRAAAABBBBIIIITTT seriously, he needs to come out more, or be added into the Crystal Palace rotation. We were all happy to see the gang in their Halloween outfits, Mom definitely commented on Eeyore’s clown outfit, it was SUPER CUTE! The next one’s a little blurry, but I like the picture otherwise, baha!

YO HO! YO HO!

Also that photo, ultimate DERP, and pay attention and do try to remember it…it will come up again later…. *hint hint*

And like, AS IF THE PIRATE SECTION ISN’T AWESOME AND INCREDIBLE ENOUGH, then I frantically flailed and pointed out that MY FAVORITE was coming up next and I was DYING.

Like, I am dead, I am dying, JUST LET ME BE A HAUNTED MANSION DANCEEEERRRRRRR I’VE GOT THE SKILLLSSSS.

Despite the chicken being a little weird, the cowboys seriously make up for any weirdness of odd character choices in this parade, and being an Albertan girl, I’m more than okay with a little cowboy action!

Then when you’re all “well the chicken was a little weird, but hey, that’s okay” the VILLAINS COME OUT TO PLAY AND IT’S TOO AWESOME ICANTHANDLEIT.

One day I just really want to see Lana Parilla…aka Regina/The Evil Queen from OUAT…up there, like, yes, Disney please, bring the OUAT villains out to play for MNSSHP, it would be AMAZING and like, as if I’m not dying enough at Halloween Parties, I would probably ACTUALLY die if they did that.

The parade ended and I flailed a whole bunch more, and, being the 6 year old I am, stated that I had to use the bathroom, so we followed the crowd along the parade route and then beelined over to Rapunzel’s tower. After finishing up, I definitely sent Brian into the men’s washroom with my camera to get pictures of the frying pans above the sinks! Lol! If I couldn’t see them in person, a picture would have to do!

Totally awesome! We regrouped and talked about what we wanted to do next. Anne’s one must do of the night was obviously to see Cruella, so we figured a stop in at the Mix and Mingle would be a good idea!

Boo to You looks AMAZING. I need to just go ahead and book a fall trip just to see it!

I agree bring out OUAT villains would be AMAZING. If I could meet Regina my life would be complete!

Hahaha. yeah, I still do not get the chicken. Like at all. And I totally busted out laughing at the "cowboys seriously make up for any weirdness of odd character choices in this parade" because, well, I just find that funny. ;)

HA, good on you for making Brian take pictures in the bathroom!! Gotta get 'em somehow!

Grrrr, I missed two more updates! I wish the DIS would fix the e-mail alerts, I've only been getting them sporadically and then I miss updates.

The puppies thing with Anne is hilarious. I can't believe you guys ran into two separate groups!

All of the Princess/Prince greets looked like a lot of fun. I wish all of the PP photographers took as many photos as you got with the Snow greet. Sometimes you are lucky to get two or three!

I would have had no idea who the fairy you posed with was. I've never seen any of those movies although I think I might own some of them. :confused3 Guess I should figure that out, huh? :rotfl: I did appreciate the awesome photobomb by the Minion behind you guys.

Awe, that parade! I want to see it again someday!

Great update! :)

OH MY GOSH YES!! It is a good enough reason to just go for fall! MNSSHP I cannot rave about enough!! IT IS AMAZING.

UGH, I would die.

Ahahaha, yeah, but hey, they do make it better! Lol Lol, yeah, I really wish I could've seen them in person, but hey, I'll take what I can get!!

Awwe, I had no idea that was even happening! I don't do the email alerts at all lol!

Oh my gosh, it was so amazing to see her really get into it and really enjoy herself at the party, I was insanely happy!

Hahaha, yeah, I have noticed photographers being better these past few trips, although we haven't been using the photopass service, just with our phones, but hey!

Ahahahahahaha

YES! I seriously cannot wait for Sept, it's going to be SO EPIC I CANNOT WAIT

Mom, Anne, Brian and I made it over to the Hub either just as show actually started, or just after it had begun, thus we were nowhere near enough to do a meet and greet. I do believe that the FIRST time we watched it I actually took no pictures. My camera was running out of battery and room on the memory card, and the other memory card was locked…(Little did I know at this point that the thing you slide to unlock it is on the card itself, I’m a DERP, but we all knew that…), so I don’t have any pictures from this time around! We all enjoyed the show, and I loved seeing that one of the male dancers did a back layout near the beginning, YAY!

The show ended and we took a journey through Tomorrowland to check out the Monster’s Inc dance party and of course hit up some of the Trick or Treating Trails!! I know we hit up the one closest to Spaace Mountain near the beginning, as they had AWESOME Monsters’ Inc gummies that I LOVED and promptly ate ALL of and then got sugar high…and then Brian gave me his….I was a kid on crack that night! We meandered back to the hub for our second viewing of the Villains Mix and Mingle and grabbed a spot RIGHT in front of the space where Cruella would come down to say hello, and luckily enough, I remembered that Captain Hook would be right beside her, or close enough that we were golden!

It was totally wicked to be watching the show from this close! Somehow I’d always been doing so many other things at MNSSHP I’ve never gotten spots so awesome!

I really do wish I knew where they got the dancers for this from! Like, they’ve never posted external auditions for them, so they obviously either audition from who’s an “equity dancer” in the company already, or just have separate people come in for MNSSHP? I’m guessing the internal auditions…

I’m also SUPER HAPPY that Dr Facilier leads the whole thing now, the Friends on the Other Side song is wicked cool and creepy and just plain great. I also have the older Mix and Mingle soundtrack, and watched it one night on Youtube and it just isn’t as good…

Also, CRAZY BLACKLIGHTS MEAN ITS TIME FOR THE BAD GUYS!!!

You know, Imma just come out and say it, how the Queen of Heart’s face looks on the costume really bothers me, when you watch the movie, she’s not made out to be super ugly, she looks feminine, she has eyelashes, no unibrow, she looks like a woman, truthfully, she’s not “stereotypically pretty” and I get it, bad guy have to look bad, but like, she should have a different face in the parks, that’s all I’m sayin…

Also…Captain Hook…you’re not even a villain, you’re the master of all derp in Peter Pan, heck, if you’re a Once fan, you know PETER’s THE REAL VILLAIN. That and Captain Hook is one heck of a sexy face…bahaha!

Guys, seriously, Halloween…Disney…it’s amazing! Clearly, once the show was done, we were in the area for the one and only Cruella DeVille! I had the pleasure of witnessing probably my FAVORITE moment of the trip with Anne in this moment. The ENTIRE night she had just been having the TIME of her life, was so into the character, strutting around, asking all the characters if they’d seen her puppies, and taking pictures with complete strangers dressed as dalmations. It was one of those magic moments where you know that the whole trip, the stress of the planning, the money put into it, the long hours on your feet in the sun, the moment that really made it all worthwhile, and proved to you, yet again, that Disney is really where kids of all ages come to play, where magic happens and dreams come true.

The night was one itself, but in the line for Cruella, there was one particular moment that will stick with me forever, Anne was either next, or close to it, and just turned around to Mom and I and “eeeeee’d” and jumped up and down all excited that she was finally to meet her doppelganger, and it was the CUTEST thing and she was all dressed up and holding a fake cigarette and it was simply priceless! It really was the “it” moment for me that trip, makes me want to cry a little bit right now, it really made me know that the trip was great for her.

I stuck around about that long, to make sure Anne got a few pictures with Cruella, and I know the interaction was great, and then I BOOKED it down Main Street with Brian to meet up with Courtney and Chris again.

Mom did jump into the pictures with the twins too!

Since it was the last showing of the night, the line appeared to not be that bad, as Mom and Anne jumped over to Captain Hook’s line after that and got some pictures with him too!

Mom said that despite the fact that he couldn’t talk, the meet was still amazing and super fun! She said that once she stepped up for the picture, Captain Hook made a drastic point towards her, then slit one finger across his throat and proceeded to duel with her for a bit!

Meanwhile, Brian and I were on our way down Main Street, right towards the parade route exit, where Courntey and Chris were sitting and we were going to join them for the parade! As we journeyed down the road, I thought out loud “Man, I REALLY wanted to see Dani and Matt tonight, especially in their costumes!” (as in Danimaroo on here, I believe Matt’s disboard name is something like “GrimGrimmingStitch??” Not sure? Lol) LO AND BEHOLD, WITHIN A SECOND OF SAYING IT, I SPOTTTED THEM!! They were sitting on the curb on Main Street also waiting on the parade, YAY, FINAL DISMEET COMPLETE! We chatted a bit about our vacations, how things were, MNSSHP, the usual. Dani reminisced on how on a few different occasions people had recognized them from their last trip video! Super neat! Dani’s costume was the Haunted Mansion wall paper, which was the best ever, and Matt’s was Wreck it Ralph, awesome. Go on and check out their trip report over here:

http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3181045

We said a quick good bye, “nice to meet you” kinda thing, and then quickly headed down to Town Square!

Brian and I finally found Courtney and Chris and squeezed in beside them at their parade spot! There was just enough room for us, although there was a line of tape directly beside us to keep the traffic flowing that I was sure would close off once the parade started…maybe we could expand? We waited not that long before the announcement that the Headless Horseman would be making his way along the route, and I started to get worried, it had been a WHILE since we had left Anne and Mom over at the Mix and Mingle, and since I only knew they were meeting Cruella, thoughts started to race. I didn’t know if Mom had her tablet, or if she would think to look on there on facebook to message me if she got lost, or if they were lost, or hurt, or what?! NO IDEA. I was concerned.

The benefit of being right at the end of the route was that the Horseman stopped completely and we could get some semi decent pictures, lol! So, he came and went, and no sign of Anne or Mom coming down Main Street, so we waited some more and the Creepa Crew came on down….

Still no sign of them…FINALLY while the Creepa Crew was heading backstage, I saw Mom and Anne pop up on the other side of the street in front of the Emporium! THANK GOODNESS!! We waved intensely, yelling at them until Mom spotted us and they waited for the cast member to let some people cross before the parade officially started. Now, with the taped off portion of “walkway” beside us, once the parade was going, the walk way was a dead end at the rope, and it was a little ridiculous as at first one cast member said we couldn’t sit there, and people did anyway, he shooed them away, and then left. Another group came up, and pushed their way up to the front and the next cast member to come around didn’t say anything to them…. *sigh* Oh well, IT WAS TIME FOR BOO TO YOU….AGAIN….AND IT WAS BITTERSWEET AS IT WAS THE LAST TIME, AND IT WAS AMAZING PREPARE YOURSEEEELLLVVEEEESS.

This time around, I was RIGHT up against the rope, and let me tell you, the attention from the Lost Boys, and the pirates was a little INSANE. Mom definitely commented on it, I was getting a lot…especially from the pirates…

Ladies and Gents, this was the FOURTH time I had watched this parade, in a week and a half, and it was THIS time watching it, that I saw a VERY familiar face within the pirate brigade….it was MY STILTS FRIEND!! I may or may not have freaked out a little bit and turned toward Mom to point him out to which she simply replied “I know…” Like, gee thanks Mom, why didn’t you point it out, Lol! You can also hear me say it to her during the trip video…. Whoooops!

Hello? Are you still there? BECAUSE I AM NOT, FOR I HAVE DIED AND GONE TO HEAVEN AND NOTHING WILL EVER BE GREATER THAN ANY OF THE HALLOWEEN PARTY AND BOO TO YOU AND I WILL ALWAYS AND FOREVER LOVE IT AND DANCE ALONG SHAMELESSLY!

I’m sorry I’ve yelled so much in this trip report, it’s just that I really, really, really like Halloween.

It’s amazing. I also got an INSANE amount of attention from the cowboys…like…insane…heh heh…I’m not complaining! With the parade over, and the night almost at a close for us, we turned to Courtney and Chris to say goodbye! There was a chance we would see them the next morning, but not for long, so we gave hugs, wished safe travels and that it was awesome to meet yet another pair of amazing Disney friends! It was actually Mom that stopped us all in order to get a picture!

Brian and I debated going back into the Princesses another go around, but I ended up deciding against it, it was late, I was tired, and we had yet ANOTHER early morning ahead of us.

Great update! Do not mind the YELLING one bit. It captures your excitement!!!

I just have to interject this since you mentioned it. I'm not a gummy person normally. Take them or leave them. But MY GOD the Disney gummies (I had the princess ones, but I imagine the same thing) were unreal!!!!! Like, I never have nor would take crack, but I imagine the sensation is similar. :goodvibes

OK, so now that you watched the show up close... WHAT THE HECK IS IS ABOUT??????

Awwwwww how great is that story about Anne and her excitement. That is "IT". Ya'll experienced "IT"! And no matter how much you hear or read about "IT", nothing quite prepares you for when "IT" happens. But when "IT" does... There is no better feeling in this world.

YAY DANI and MATT DISMEET!!!! I'll even forgive the "no photo or it didn't happen rule" since she also confirmed the meet in her TR (photoless).

BAHAHAHA, way to kill your buzz, Mom. "STILTS GUY!!"... "Yeah I know".

AHHHHH... FINALLY a DISmeet photo. I was starting to think you just made up meeting Chris and Courtney.

Thank you!! Ahahaha, awesome, I'm glad you're not upset that the volume level may be loud, bahaha!

I don't know what it was, but those gummies were TO DIE for and I seriously loved them!

Ahahahaha, there isn't really a plot, it's more of a dance, like hey, there's the villains, they're gonna rock out when they can, I mean, they only let them come out to play once a year!!

It was seriously amazing, like, seriously, lol. going to disney with a first timer is always so exciting and magical and awesome, and for one of her amazing age, it was even more exciting for me to see that she still had the magic in her at 80 years young!

Aahahaha, yeah, it was very in passing and we quickly chatted before we practically ran down Main St lol

Baha, yeah, like geeze mom, you could've maybe MENTIONED it to me when you first saw him, lol. It really is weird to think that we know each other in real life now when it was just over a year ago Paige and I were all "that stilts guys super cute" bahah! Oh how things change!!

Lawl! Hey! I had one for Jen & I, and Susie!! (although we've met up like, 4 times since then and only have one picture with us, and its a character photo, lol)

A little bit of real life right now: Just wanted to say THANK YOU (again) to those of you sticking around. I know there are some others out there who are struggling to keep up, or just aren't replying because I am posting faster than Cinderella ran off from the ball, but really, I just REALLY want to get started on the Dec trip report, it's the start of a new era in Disney trips lol!!

*******

Hey friends, just want to start off by saying; there aren’t many pictures in the following updates. It was the end of the trip, I was closing in on my max, and Mom barely took any pictures at all, also, it was a very exciting day as we were doing the KEYS TO THE KINGDOM TOUR THIS MORNING!! That being said, I do have a LOT of notes and tidbits of information, so that’s exciting.

The day began with Mom, Anne and I getting up, ready, and heading down to the foodcourt for breakfast.

That was mine, the pancakes, with chocolate chips! Nom! We also had an order of kids pancakes and French Toast to start the day off with. Everything was good, tasty, some nice sugary carbs to wake us up in the morning! Shortly after eating, we headed out to the bus stop and hopped over to Magic Kingdom, arriving right around 8:15am, maybe even earlier!

We checked in for the tour, and were given our ear pieces/ID badges, a name tag and were told to wait around for the guide would be there at 8:30! While we were waiting I noticed Courtney and Chris walking into MK for their ADR over at Crystal Palace, we waved to each other happily and they made on their way.

Promptly on time, Katie, our guide for the day showed up and rounded us all up for the tour. She set us to a channel on the ear piece and set everything up with that so we could hear her. The ear piece sits around your ear, as if you only have one ear phone it, and it worked perfectly so you can hear the guide without them having to yell over the loudness of the parks, super handy!

Our adventure began right on Main Street, right in Town Square, while she introduced us to a very important man in Disney history, and one that usually gets forgotten. Roy. Roy Disney is Walt’s brother, and as much as Walt was the imagination of the company, Roy was the banker, the realist, he was the one that when Walt had yet another insane thing he wanted to do, he would go to Roy to make sure it would work. Depsite having to keep costs down and such, Roy was also the man that worked himself SO hard to support his baby brother and help keep the dreams a reality. Roy was also the one that took control of the plans for Disney World after Walt died, he made sure that the park was done, and it was done, RIGHT.

I won’t lie, I was getting emotional already. There’s so many people out in the world who don’t even know about Roy, much less the contributions he made to Disney and the Disney parks, he gets forgotten a lot, and Katie really did appreciate everything he did, so she liked to start off the tour this way. There’s just so much that the Disney brothers did for each other that it really is amazing and eye opening and wonderful! I knew a lot of what Katie was saying from reading the two biographies I’ve read/in the process of reading, but it was great to hear someone else talk about it as passionately as she was!

As we moved away from the Roy and Minnie statue, Katie started to talk about how everything in Disney parks, specifically Disneyland and Magic Kingdom, is a show. First example being that all the employees are called “cast members” they are part of the show. Their uniforms, are called “costumes” and help represent the era/world/place that they are working in. The show starts when you walk into the park, and you can’t yet see the castle, it’s the main event, so it’s hidden. All the pavement in Main Street is red, partially because it is the “red carpet” you walk in on, and partially because it was chosen by Kodak to be the best color to reflect and such when taking photos! Neat!

We moved up Main Street a little bit, into the little nook beside the Glass Store, and we continued to talk about how everything is a show.

When Cast Members are trained, they’re taught the four principles, which are courtesy, efficiency, safety, and show. The most important being safety of course! Katie then pointed out that we were about to hear the finale of the rope drop, and, this is something I had never noticed before, when everyone has been welcomed by Mickey and is entering the park, there’s a little announcement going alongside the music. The music is the show part, the announcer speaks of walking to attractions, not running (safety) and wishes everyone to have a magical fun day (courtesy). It was honestly an announcement I’d never noticed before, although since then, I hear it every time lol!

Many of you probably know that along Main Street, all the windows have names written on them, and they all have meaning towards the parks and people that have come to create Disney. Among them are Disney’s children, siblings, imaginers, etc.

The two windows above the entrance to the glass store are some of the fake names/companies that Walt used to buy the land in Florida that Disney World is built on. See, when Disneyland was built, they didn’t have a whole lot of money, or space, so after the park was built, the city around it started to expand, neon signs for sketchy hotels and breakfast buffets began to pop up all over the place, and Walt didn’t like it. He didn’t enjoy the fact that you could still feel the real world all around you. Funnily enough, this is what I didn’t like at all about DLR… SO, Walt began scouting places to build this new park, and after deciding on the “Florida Project” he started to buy smaller chunks of land under fake names to avoid the people finding out what he was doing, and the prices of land skyrocketing. Eventually, he was found out at a press conference, and the prices did skyrocket, but they managed to have enough at least start out with!

Katie then led our adventure a little more down Main Street to see the most important window of them all, Walt’s.

He’s the only one facing the castle, so that he’ll always have a view of the magic he created. Frick, I’m totally crying right now, lol! Across from the window I noticed a particularly cute pumpkin/snow man!

Walt’s window is above the Plaza, for anyone who’s wondering…lol. The group then moved further into the hub, where I first spotted, and then CREEPED on Courtney and Chris, on their way out of breakfast.

Next Katie spent some time talking about the hub, and how you have the big landmarks from each “land” within Magic Kingdom and how they draw you into their area. The big tree house, and Tiki Room over in Adventureland, the Liberty Square Riverboat over in that direction, the castle as the entrance to Fantasyland, and the Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland.

She also spoke now about how all the lands have such strong different themeing, the music, the pavement, the lighting, the sights, it really is like you’re transported into a different world each land you travel to! Katie even pointed out how the Crystal Palace has two different themes to the exterior of it. Closer to Main Street it looks more like the Main Street decorations, and as you get closer to Adventureland the vegetation gets more intense and the exterior of the restaurant looks more “adventurous” it’s a subtle change but was super cool to see.

We then turned our attention over to the Partner’s Statue. Originally, Walt had said he never wanted anything of the sort, any statue or anything of him in the parks. However, as time went on after his passing, people started to forget who he was, why the place they were in existed, who’s dream it was, so they recruited a good personal friend of Walt’s to create something for them. Walt stood somewhere around 5 foot 9, but in the statue, was made to be 6 foot, as he said that was the “perfect” height for a man, so it was! Mickey was chosen to be the height he was in the Partner’s as that’s how high he comes up on the conductor during Fantasia!

And now, since I’ve rambled on for FIVE WHOLE PAGES already, and we were about to take a turn into Adventureland, I’ll start a new update!!

I loved the Keys to the Kingdom tour & this makes me want to do it all over again. I'm looking forward to seeing what happened on the rest of the tour - I have hear that they can vary slightly so that's a good reason for booking again right? :goodvibes

Haha, new era in Disney trips, AKA every other week instead of just once a month. :p (kidding... kinda). But, bring on December!

I completely forgot about the Keys tour!!

Ummmmm, totally didn't know that MK Tours sign existed.

Oh man, I really do wish Roy got more credit than he does. Obviously those in the know understand what his value really was, but so few even know of his existence. Kinda sad. I'm so glad they include this as part of the tour.

The "red" is something I just find so fascinating since it was designed for film cameras. I wonder how that translate to digital. Maybe the same, I have no idea.

And boy did those land prices ever sky-rocket. Yowza!

So amazing to me that until the tour I never noticed the Walt window location. Now I can't NOT see it.

BAHAHAHA, nice creeper photo! You're timing is amazing. AND you got them heading into the castle too. Too funny.

Arg, yeah, clearly the addition of the statue helped keep Walt's birthday alive and well (note the sarcasm, I'm still not over that, lol).

So excited to follow along on your KTTK tour!!! Gotta do that some day! :cloud9:

I've been super bad about replying, but I've been here all along and have been loving every minute! :goodvibes

Great start to the KTTK tour! I think that would be such a fun tour to try someday, I'm a sucker for Disney history and trivia so I think it would be great!

It really is a great time!!! And yes!! I can't believe I didn't think to book one when FoF was still in rehearsals, it would've been great to see some of that stuff!! And I'm sure depending on the guide things would change too!

Ahahaha yeah…..it's just been a very interesting year of trips! What can I say, people like Steven & I shouldn't be allowed to have credit cards lol!!

SO GLAD it's in the tour, I would've been heartbroken otherwise, like, that man did so much to help with the Disney company!!

Hhahaha, who knows?!

Yup!! #creep

Ahahahaha this is okay, I would not be over that either! I just don't get it!

Yay!! It is a super awesome tour! You should definitely do it!

Hahah, that's okay! Glad you're here & enjoying it!

Thanks! It really was a blast, and I had a ton of fun on it!
