The Contemporary has never done much for me, but I really love the location and décor in the BLT. HUGE rooms and so many great views!

Sometimes being late for a dining reservation is unavoidable. We found that out on our way to La Hacienda when that pesky Spaceship Earth got in the way!

I need to go back and read your review of dinner at CRT- we have never been.

After your meal did you ask if you could go up to "your suite"?

Usually I am mesmerized by food porn, but this time, I was drooling over the view from your table. WOWSA!!!

I love the picture of the carousel all lit up and of the fireworks. That first shot is gorgeous!

But I did manage to pull myself away from your window long enough to check out your food.

I'm sorry your salad was disappointing. I read the description and I would have been tempted. Until I saw the menu listing for the strawberry salad. YUM!

I'm glad to hear you were both happy with your entrees.

your room at BLT looks really nice. The style definitely is "contemporary" but no cold or stark or anything, which is nice. Glad you were able to unpack

Enjoyed your review of dinner at CRT - you got a perfect table for watching Wishes - what a unique view .... people probably don't typically think of that as an option and probably also slightly easier to get an ADR there so late in the evening

Funny how I adore BLT as well as AKL. Completely different styles but I love them both. Go figure.

Oh yes, unpacking....it's very important to my sanity.

We were definitely lucky with the seating for CRT - especially with the timing for Wishes. I think you are correct in your observation... take a look at any CRT dinner times available in July and they are all after 9pm.

Great timing getting on the bus seconds before it began raining!

Oh, your room at Bay Lake looks beautiful! Each room looks really large and roomy. And I love that there are balcony spaces from both the living room and the master bedroom.

Glad nobody gave you a hard time for being a few minutes late to your dinner. Those parades can cause some major traffic jams, so I could see how it'd be difficult to navigate your way up to the castle.

Those BLT rooms are really like mini apartments. I suppose that's why they call them villas.

I should have done my homework and remembered when MSEP was scheduled. It may have saved me from apologizing for being late. Despite that minor delay, at least we arrived.

How fun to check into another resort Brenda. BLT looks amazing! I love your room. My house isn't as stylish either but it sure looks homey!

I'm glad you were able to get to CRT only a few minutes late. Being late in WDW gives me anxiety even though most CMs are usually understanding about it. I read your dining review and the food looks delicious!!! (even the poor little lettuce salad you had....)

It was nice to come "home" to our favorite non AKL resort! I loved having all the comforts of home in the villa. And no, I didn't vacuum or wash dishes so it was all the better!

I'm glad the CMs were so nice and forgiving of our tardiness. Just remember, looks are deceiving! I've had worse so I shouldn't complain. All of Em's choices (except that clock strikes midnight dessert) were very good.

I'm with you humid and storms take a little bit of the fun out of Disney, not to be a wimp or anything

I hate it when you forget about the MSEP! I love that parade but it can be a nuisance when you need to get somewhere!

Looks like a nice dinner at CRT. My DD has never been a princess fanatic, so we have never dined there. Actually made my life a little easier since that was one reservation I didn't have to fight for at the crack of dawn!

I'm a fan of the lake view at BLT since it has a front-seat view of the sunrise.

I suppose I won't melt so it shouldn't have been a big deal but making in on the bus before the rain started felt like a big win!

No kidding! There's legendary stories about competing for ADRs at CRT. Rising at 3am PT, oh wait, that's what I did before! And the perfect spot for a dead center Wishes view wasn't bad either.

Thank you Linda! I have to say that it really isn't much stress at all to resort hop. We just keep our afternoon plans flexible.

Beautiful view from your room. Oh how I would love to splurge and do 1BR villas when we travel, but then that would decrease our time at Disney, so that wouldn't be good. I guess for now I'll stick with the studios. BLT is now the only WDW villa Denny hasn't stayed in.

I am eating at CRT in May for breakfast. Very excited. It will be my first visit there.

Hi MK! The good thing about BLT is there's not a bad view - it's either the lake or MK (ok, with some parking lot!) If only my villa experience included the VGF! I'm completely jealous.

Oh, I love breakfast at CRT! If you are booked before park open that will be even more special. I know you eat healthy but the stuffed French toast at CRT for breakfast is really good!

We are drawn to Sci-Fi for some reason too. What can I say, it's a fun place to eat! We love the themeing in there, even though the most decent food is the burgers, which you can get at any CS. It's definitely the environment that we go there for.

I agree, there's some mysterious pull to Sci-Fi dining - definitely it has to do with the theming. But those burgers aren't bad. Watch them be the same burgers as are served next door at the ABC Commissary.

Shuttling back and forth from MK to the resort for a mid-day break is so easy with BLT. Convenience for mom and dad with little ones is a plus!

Wow - the 9th floor BLT view is awesome - even with the rain! The BLT one-bedroom villa is beautiful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen pics of anything but the studio at BLT.

We have only ever done CRT for lunch, but I’m thinking maybe we should try dinner - it must be pretty neat to be eating in the castle with all the lights lit up outside. Of course, we never get seated near enough to a window to know what’s going on outside! Loved all the CRT pics! And I’m sure that Cinderella was just saying she was glad to see everyone else; I’m betting that you and Em made a great impression!

The first time we dined at CRT we were by a window so we were a little spoiled. I was curious as to the view so that worked out well. I'm sure lunch at CRT was a lot of fun and Miss Willow must have been in her finest princess outfit - I'm guessing Cinderella.

It was so very nice! We were lucky enough to have perfect timing with the seating.

Very nice room pics!! I have decided though that if I ever stayed in that type of room, the potential to leave things behind when I leave goes up significantly. I was a nervous wreck because I actually made use of the room safe this time and I was so worried that I would forget to take my stuff out. And by stuff I mean a credit card and an Ipod. I left the million dollar jewels at home

I hate being late too... so I feel your pain there.

I just started reading Dean's book I like that I can take it on my lunch break and get a quick dose of Disney magic in the middle of the work day

Oh my! I worry about that every trip. What did I leave in a closet or plugged in in some out of the way place. Considering I came home missing a shoe once, it can happen! Much better to leave my shoe behind rather than a credit card or ipod for sure!

I'm a punctual person so being tardy makes me squirm.

Isn't that great about the book. The chapters are short so you can squeeze in a few in a short period of time. I'm glad that you are enjoying it.

I loved the pictures of the one bedroom at BLT, they brought back wonderful memories of my 25th anniversary trip. I also loved the fact I could just walk to MK, but coming back if we could not take another step we just hopped on the monarail. Wonderful pictures of the lake and monarail.

Oh, I'm glad you had some great memories! You just can't beat being so close to MK. It's fortunate that any monorail ride home is the first stop!

The 1 br villa at BLT looks really nice. That laundry room would come in handy to stash the stuff, like suitcases, so they aren't in the way. We've stayed at the BCV's and the extra room in a villa is really nice. I find myself doing laundry when we stay in one of those just because I can. Actually, it is nice to come home with a suitcase full of clean clothes.

Exactly, that laundry room was our place to store the luggage and miscellaneous items. Although I did trip over Em's suitcase in there one morning but that's another story!

That's funny you mention doing laundry because you can.... Em did that the first time we stayed in a villa. She figured it was a novel thing so why not! The side effect of your laundry already being done isn't bad either.

What a contrast in rooms, going from the YC to BLT. Lovely lovely view and love all the space!!!! Quite the blustery day, love the Marilyn(ish) pic.

Definitely a big change in theming between those two resorts. As different as they are they both had a lake outside our window. But I do love that space.

I should have told the entire story about the wind and my dress on the walkway to BLT from CR. There was a guy in a scooter, scooting along when I was walking across the bridge right when that happened. He said, whoa Marilyn moment there. So he dubbed it my Marilyn moment.

Ha ha! Considering Em and I are fairly short any of those princesses will be taller than us but that Cinderella must have been at least 5' 6"

The BLT rooms look so nice. I don't think we'll ever get to stay in one although we will be staying at CR's garden wing room in October for our Halloween weekend. Something tells me that it just won't be the same.

Glad you got around the "obstruction" on your way to CRT. I tell ya, that Goofy can be quite reckless with his driving so it's always a good thing when you can walk away in one piece.

Oh, the CR garden wing is very nice. I always thought it odd that they had a separate wing of rooms but then they destroyed the North wing or whatever it was that BLT replaced. I thought some of the largest rooms are located in the garden wing.

It pays to read the parade schedule I tell ya! I could have avoided the whole mess if I'd planned that one better.

I haven't been to CRT in 7 years. I'm trying to convince my group to go this year but I don't think it's working! I'll live vicariously through yours for now!
Getting around MK at that time of day is such a pain! No matter how hard the CMs try to keep an open path or re-route, it still adds so much time onto your journey. Glad you weren't too late, and also very glad that you didn't get scolded! (I also hate to be late, I tend to scold myself.)

I would imagine CRT is a tough one to sell to a big group. You kinda have to like characters and the inflated cost of eating in the castle. But if it works out great!

I didn't know that they rope off the entire castle area all the way over to Mickey's Philharmagic. I suppose they are cautious with those fireworks. Yeah, if they reprimanded us for being late I would have stood myself in a corner out of guilt!

I am really enjoying your report, though just now getting around to commenting. The Bay Lake room looks really nice. I hate the parade sometimes in terms of how it messes you up trying to get from one place to another. We got trapped in the Emporium one night on our last trip while just trying to get out before the crowd. Glad you all made your ADR though! Looking forward to more.

Thanks Melissa! Definitely that TiW card takes a good chunk out of the bill. When you use TiW for CRT they don't discount the entire cost since they portion out the photo package that is not subject to the discount. It still works out to about a 15% discount or so. I hope that makes sense.

Ha ha! Yes, we should have said we're ready to be taken to our DS now. That or you can send our dinner bill to Cindy! We were her guests after all.

We were lucky with the fantastic view at our table. It was a great perspective for the fireworks. Dinner was pretty good despite my blah salad. I was glad that Em was in a sharing mood since her strawberry/feta salad was delish!

As long as dessert is not chocolate I'm pretty good so go figure why I tried hers. The cupcake ended up being perfect!

Oh man, the 1 bedroom just feel so luxurious because of all that space. Two people really don't need that much room but we book with discounts so what the heck!

I got a three pack of magnets before our trip at the Disney Store so they were perfect.

I actually print a couple copies of the "master schedule" since the one I carry around is completely destroyed in my bag. I keep the fresh copy on the fridge. I should share a photo of the schedule by day 12. Yikes!

There's a big difference between the space for a studio vs 1 bedroom but not a huge difference in cost. We'll be in a studio at BLT in May.

Welcome back Kathy! I followed your FB posts so I have an idea of some of the fun that you had. (And the breakfast pics for Barry!) Between you being gone and me traveling for work I think we definitely missed each other.

SAB finally worked out. Now I don't know why we waited so long. We'll not be back at YC anytime in the near future so I'll have to try that clown slide at BW next month.

I'm a villas fan and BLT happens to be one of my favorites. Speaking of villas, I know you are doing Kidani. I'll be trying the Jamo AKV next month. I'm pretty excited about that.

I agree, it is a waste of points to book a 1 bedroom if you don't need the space. I keep thinking that one time I'll actually cook and make use of that kitchen. One day.... I may surprise myself. The laundry room was very nice.

Saturday August 24, 2013: Day 9, Part 5​

Following dinner, MSEP was reprising its performance so we stopped to watch from the top of the castle platform area overlooking the hub.

After the parade passed I looked behind us and saw a nearly deserted breezeway through the castle. It was a stark contrast to the crowds in front of us.

One of the security CMs offered to take our photo in front of the backlit castle. He must have had some amateur photographer in him since he decided to be creative and directed the angle of the camera to face sharply upwards. What resulted was an up-your-nose angle with the photo. However, he did a great job capturing the time of time on the clock!

We lurked on Main Street because we were on a mission. We have 3 or 4 wands and wishing stars from CRT so we wanted to find two little princesses to whom we could give our CRT swag. This is easier said than done. We had criteria. It had to be a family with only two little girls. It couldn’t be a girl and a boy since we didn’t want the boy to be left out. It couldn’t be a family with more than two little girls for obvious reasons. It could be 2 single girl families but those were hard to find believe it or not.

While posing for the above photo Em spied THE family that happened to be in the frame. The family had two small girls who were excited to have the wands and wishing stars. The parents were very thankful. No problem.

Shutting down Main Street

It was almost midnight!

Good deed done we walked back to BLT and called it a night.

I can't believe that was your first time to Stormalong Bay! I've heard such awesome things about that resorts pool! Thats probably as close as I will ever be to a hotel gym lol.

I've not dined at Sci-Fi.. I guess I love Fried Chicken more than corny film clips and so so burgers!

Thank goodness you missed that rain! It looks like it did in DL a few weeks ago!!
