Get Off The Ship - we are running out of towel animals! Update 10/25 Day 31

Oh my gosh, DH would LOVE this! He's had an infatuation for turtles since he was a little boy so this would be something right up his alley.

How cool that you spotted that Iguana. I could barely see it!

If your DH loves turtles, then the farm would definitely be something for him. You are allowed to touch them as well, well, the smaller ones, not the big ones. ;)

And as far as spotting the Iguana, I am kind of looking for them. Last year we had one in a tree in front of our balcony at Key West for about two days. I kept staring at it every time we were back in the room.
Not something we have around here. :rotfl2:

Thank you...

BTW... TURTLES!!! Oh my goodness they are amazing. How cool you got to feed them. :thumbsup2

Ann, I have NEVER seen so many turtles in one place. And feeding them was fun, even though we also love to feed the ones in the Hourglass Lake at Pop. ;)

I really enjoyed the turtle farm when I visited...Love the baby turtles! Cool shot of the iguana.

Great updates Karin
Looks like you had a lovely sunny day
We went snorkelling in Grand Cayman but a lot of people we spoke to onbaord did the same excursion as you and said it was great :goodvibes

Great pictures, Karin! As usual! I've been showing them to DH because he never made it off the ship when we were in Grand Cayman. Since we will be heading there for a week in 65 days :beach: I'm trying to give him an idea of what he can expect to see, and what the island is like overall. Your pictures did exactly what I wanted. :cool1:

We are planning stops at both the Turtle Farm and Hell during our GC stay. I had some mixed feelings about the Turtle Farm, but have done some research and decided to give it a go. I absolutely love your turtle pictures, especially the one of the big turtle who appears to be looking right up at you.

I just finished watching the Dream sail away on the PC webcam. :boat: We still have 188 days until we will be aboard. Not that I'm counting.......
Maybe even more if we change our booking once the rest of the 2015 dates finally come out. :hourglass

My kids loved that turtle farm. It was the perfect excursion for them at the time....they were just 9 and 4 then. I'm not sure what to do in Grand Cayman this time. Possibly the beach or maybe just shopping and Margaritaville.

I'm really enjoying your excursion especially since I didn't do any!!! :rotfl2:

I loved all the turtle pics - I really would have enjoyed seeing them in person, I think. One day!

I want to see Aladdin here on Broadway.
Drinks looked good.
Love the lobster.
Hell looks nice.
Cute turtles.

It was fun that it was part of the trip - I would not have chosen to go there, but was happy we went. :thumbsup2

Thank you, Linda!
We had a brilliantly sunny day at Grand Cayman.
It had been a bit hard picking an excursion, but we wanted to see and explore the island on our first visit, so that excursion seemed quite good and we were really happy with our decision lateron. :thumbsup2

So happy I could help! :goodvibes

Hell was so impressive! You would not guess what's lurking behind that Post Office. :rotfl:
And as I mentioned before, if they had been individual components I would not have picked the turtle farm, but it was part of the tour. And we both ended up loving the experience. :goodvibes

Oh, I missed the sail away today. :sad2:
But then, our next sail away will not be from PC after all. We will be sailing out of Barcelona in 141 days. :dance3:
Oh, and don't remind me of the waiting game for the 2015 summer cruises. All I want is a nice Fantasy cruise - can you hear us, DCL!!!!!

My kids loved that turtle farm. It was the perfect excursion for them at the time....they were just 9 and 4 then. I'm not sure what to do in Grand Cayman this time. Possibly the beach or maybe just shopping and Margaritaville.

There were some great shops right near the port. We visited a few, but were too tired and hot for some more exploring once we got back from the excursion. Guess next time this is what we will do - just explore. :thumbsup2

That's the beauty of reading each other's TRs! We get to see how lovely the ship is without all the guests and you get a peak of the island. Best of both worlds. :thumbsup2

I want to see Aladdin here on Broadway.
Drinks looked good.
Love the lobster.

Cute turtles.

I envy you so much to be able to see Aladdin on Broadway! We saw Beauty and the Beast on Broadway and it was AMAZING!!!!
Raj made the BEST towel animals - we were in awe with his creations every night. :goodvibes

Day 13, August 19

A trip to Hell and back - Part 4

It took about another 10 minutes until everyone was on the bus again, a mother and daughter being the last ones and they seemed to be in no hurry to get on.
We were then on our way back to the ship.

It took another 25 minutes to get back to the port area, where we tipped the driver and got off.
We walked around the port area,

there was a Mall, but nothing really peaked our interest and so we slowly went back to the port. There were several off license shops who all offered about the same fare, and they all were about the same price. We didn’t really want to carry purchases around to much as it was so hot, so we decided to do some of that shopping right in port.
When we arrived there, there was a fun sweets shop which we browsed and then headed over to the duty free liqueur shop. Tom picked up several beers which were from the area and a bottle of rum and then he sat outside the shop on a little bench and table area and sampled one of

the beers while I got myself some ice-cream in the sweets shop,

Mint Chocolate Chip ice-cream. And while it was very good, it was one of the most expensive ice-creams I had ever eaten. Both treats gone we slowly went back over to the area where the tender boats were.

And were surprised again by DCL as they were handing out refrigerated towels and had a stand with several icy- cold drink dispensers.

We both chose a drink and it felt heavenly to have a cold drink while waiting for the tender to dock and allow people to get on again.
Soon we were on the tender back to the ship

and boarded our beloved air conditioned “home”. Back in our stateroom we got changed and had a short discussion what to do about lunch.

To be continued ............

Sounds like it was an unusually hot day. (what can you expect from Hell :rotfl:)

Amazingly beautiful though. I love how everything man made still reflects the colors of the sea, sky and sand. That is lovely!

It was hot that day, and not just because we had a look at Hell. :rotfl2: Plus those buses don't really have much A/C. So there was no way of really cooling down. We loved the cold towels and flavoured water though. :thumbsup2

Well, this is new! What a nice added touch.

That was new? They had the tent with refreshments and cold towels out in about every port of call.
It was really nice and it was fun to see the guests on the other ships look at what was offered to us. :goodvibes Yes, I AM bad like that. :lmao:

I don't remember seeing them do that on our Fantasy cruise in August 2012. At any port. That's why I'm saying new. Maybe I missed it?

It is nice that they offer these little things that other cruises don't seem to do. And, yes, I'm bad like that too! :)

I have no idea now you keep up with all these updates!
It's fun seeing the different ports but it's always a great feeling arriving back to the ship :)

That ice cream looks super yummy but I'm surprised it didn't melt in seconds flat.
Nice to be greeted with cold drinks. :thumbsup2

I've got lots of catching up to do on your various TRs. I will eventually get caught up. I hope.

All caught up, loving your report so far. Can't wait to read the rest. We have a city named HELL here in Michigan also. Here is a headline posted today.
Fun fact: it's currently -13 in Hell, MI, with a wind chill of -33. It has literally frozen over.
