YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

I am among the many who haven't tried the cake pops. If I get anything other the my coffee it's a slice of the lemon cake. Shula's looks like a nice place. As always you can Em look very nice in your dresses. Picturing you walking across in the heels sounds like something I would do. My hubby rolls his eyes when the yard is muddy and I have to wear my heels. Can't wait to get them back out. I was eyeing them this morning but decided my first week of freedom and still the use of cane I should leave the heels in the closet a little longer.

Great update! Dinner at Shula's looked wonderful!! You guys looked so pretty all dressed up. Girl I don't know how you walk in those heels! If I could get away with wearing TOMS and dress up clothes I would in a heartbeat lol.

Thanks Jenn, it was a great dinner.

You would look adorable in anything, you are so cute! I noticed your TOMS in your TR! You wear them well.

Glad you had such a wonderful meal at Shulas! You both look beautiful!
Yikes, I can't walk in heels at the best of times, let alone on a boardwalk! :lmao: I'm impressed that you made it without breaking an ankle like I would have!
What a wonderful day, wow. A big day too, can't say I blame you for skipping MK that evening!

Thank you Wendy! And might I add the newest DISer to meet DisneyKid4Life!! That was awesome to see that on FB.

I do pretty good in heels but not when you throw in an obstacle of boards with gaps between them. Speaking of broken ankles.... When I broke my ankle last summer right after our August trip, that was the first thing Em said, "how are you going to wear heels?" I used to wear heels everyday to work.

I'm more ambitious in planning than in reality during the trip. Once post dinner lethargy sets in we had no chance of making it to MK! :lmao:

would love to see the suite in person. One day

Keep dreaming and wishing, it can come true when you least expect it! It did for us. :)

Great update!! I also followed the link over to check out the dining review!! Looks so good. My favorite steak so far has to be the one I had at California Grill. :lovestruc But I've never tried YSH or Shula's.

The cake pops looked very good from Starbucks! May have to try one of those just from around here somewhere.

Balloon vendor must have been a little warm. Maybe she was seeking out a little shade. :rolleyes1

I've never ordered the filet at Cali Grill but I hear that it is very good. I've had filet at most every other Signature and they vary in how good I think they are (Monsieur Paul was excellent, YSH was good) but none stand out like Shula's.

I don't go to Starbucks often other than at the airport for breakfast so it would be interesting to see if they sell them everywhere or if they are a special treat at WDW.

A little shade to cool off isn't a bad idea! Perhaps it won't sell too many balloons but what the heck! :)

You both look very nice for your dinner. :goodvibes
Mmm, heels on a boardwalk, I can see how that would be difficult. :rotfl:

Cake pops do seem really small. I know when my husband got one, he felt there were other snacks he could've bought for the same price and gotten way more out of them. But, hey, at least you can say you tried one now.

Thank you Alicia. Yeah.... looking like a drunken sailor on land wasn't my idea of class and style! At least I didn't fall down.

I'm glad I tried the cake pop since it certainly met my expectations but I know there are other treats that I love (lemon loaf to name one :lovestruc) that have a better 'bites to dollar' ratio.

I grew up in Miami, and the Dolphins and Don Shula are etched in my memory, and especially since my father resembled Don Shula so much. I remember their perfect season very well!

On this upcoming trip, my sister and I will absolutely have to go to this steakhouse. I make no apologies for lovin' a good steak!! ::yes::

Oh wow!! That's cool that you remember that season. I don't recall that season specifically but I have early memories of my dad and brothers watching the Dolphins games when Shula was the coach.

GO!!! You will love this place! I'm looking forward to returning in May. It looks like from your ticker that you'll be there a little after us. Enjoy!

Ms. Kat, look up the Candy Cane Inn. I know the name sounds awful, but this place has been recently remodeled and it's still family owned after all these years. It's a beautiful little hotel, serves a continental breakfast every morning (which actually is way more than just that) and it's clean, reasonably priced and the best part, it's not far from the park and on the same side, no crossing streets to get there!(once you are there you'll understand why that's important) :goodvibes

Hope this helps. :)

I've only stayed at one hotel across the street, Park Vue Inn (just ok) but here's a link to all the "Good Neighbor" hotels by Disneyland.

Dinner looks and sounds like it was amazing! I've never even really thought to think about resturants in the swalphin for eating at lol. Then again, the boardwalk usually escapes my plans while at Disney lol, but now, I think I'll have to look into it!!

Also walking on the boardwalk in heels…hilarious…I wish i was there to see it lol!! I usually opt for the flats or sandals…the heels usually don't even make it into the suitcase lol!

Hi Katt! There's a few great options for dining at the Swalphin - Bluezoo and Il Mulino in addition to Shula's. I'm a fan of many of the Boardwalk restaurants as well. Pretty much if it is food in Disney I'm in love.

After breaking my ankle I don't wear heels too much anymore. Although unlike you, I'm height challenged so heels give me a few inches that I appreciate.

Reading your dining review of Shulas was definitely a mistake. I am now at work droooooling. It does strike me as a little strange to have a dirty football on a table at such a nice place though. I'm assuming they clean it, but :crazy2:

Pete's main request for our upcoming trip was STEAK. We are gunna try out the Yachtsman this time and save Shula's for a special occasion! I didn't know that it was all football themed. He will definitely love that!

Ha ha! I should have posted a warning not to read while in a no drool zone. I hope they clean those footballs! :rolleyes2

YSH has been a favorite for the last few trips and it's good, not Shula's good, but it should be a great steak option. You'll have to tell me how you love the onion rolls at YSH!

Anytime you're in the DC area, let me know!
What a great way to cap a magical day with dinner at Shula's! Who knew the ol coach could put together a great steakhouse. It's on my dining list for 2015. Yeah, I've already made plans for our trip in June 2015. ;)

I definitely will! :thumbsup2

I think the coach must have really liked steak.

June 2015 is only 463 days away, gotta start planning now! Makes sense to me. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you dine there.

I'm all caught up to this TR!! Subscribing so that I can read all about the rest of it! That DS tour looked AMAZING! That is so awesome that you all got to do that! I tried some new restaurants when I was at WDW in January but you all have given me a few more that I need to try. Now I just need to figure out when my next escape to WDW will be...:)

Thank you for subscribing Rachellee! :) I'm so glad that you are here and following along.

Awww you are just back from a trip. I completely understand being compelled to plan the next trip. I'm glad to help you with some new options for future dining adventures. :thumbsup2

You make me dream of DL so much!! I still can't believe I've never been. In CO, it's definitely way more common to fly there than all the way to FL. Silly me. I love your pics every time! You are luck you live so close!

I don't blame you for heading back to the room...by day 8, sometimes you just need a little recharge time!

WDW has a lot more to offer than DL but it is nice to have a Disney classic in our backyard. Thanks, I'm glad to share our short weekend get-away.

I agree, calling it a night at 9:45pm doesn't exactly make us touring wimps. ;) It is nice to recharge our little Disney batteries.

Oooooh Shula's!! It's on our bucket list for sure. We tried BlueZoo during our trip this past October and are trying to find time to try Shula's either during our trip in June or October this year. After reading this segment, I'm hungry! :cool1:

Hi Bill! I've only had cocktails at Bluezoo but need to make it back for dinner. YES, put Shula's on your list. I'm excited to bring my hubby there in May.

Hi Brenda! I love your and Emily's dresses! Very pretty.

I am the worst at walking in heels, especially on rough surfaces, so I would have been right there with ya!

I love love love steak, potatoes, and chocolate cake so Shula's looks fantastic.

Thank you Courtney! Em was nice enough to let me borrow her dress.

I'm telling you, the steak and potatoes were great.... If you love chocolate cake, I'm sure it was phenomenal for you chocolate loving types. ;)

All caught up! Love the DL intermission!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thank you Charlotte. Hope all is well with your studies. :)

Hi Brenda! Still trying to catch up before the TR is over….. AND I ignored everything else I meant to do tonight, but I did it!!!!!!!!
I am quite impressed. Excellent job!!

:rotfl2: I love the Donald Duck “no pants” photos!!!!!
It was a well deserved comment. Makes you wonder....

Oh, I LOVE your dawn photos of YC/BC. You probably don’t even remember posting them at this point!!!
I remember not being able to sleep and watching the sunrise and loving it! Now that you remind me I do recall that I included those photos!!

Hurray!!! I made it to the Dream Suite installments!!! You did such an amazing job capturing all the information and photos as you went. Thank you so much - I know how hard it can be to remember to do that in an amazing situation (or, you know, experiencing a new attraction for the first time, since I have never had such an amazing Disney experience!)! Anyway, I am DYING - what an amazing place. I can’t believe you got to tour it! I can’t believe people get to stay there! Can you imagine waking up and looking out the window (or is there even a window you can look out - maybe they are all stained-glass )?????? The tub - my jet-tub-loving child would go insane for that! We would probably never experience the parks if we were lucky enough to stay there. I really want to show Willow these pictures, but how do I tell her that we will NEVER stay there or even see it??? Thank you so much for making such a great effort to share it with all of us. (Making me picture one of my least favorite celebrities on the pot, however, makes me deduct a few points….. :crazy2: :rotfl2:)
Oh, I'm glad you enjoyed reading those installments. :)

You can see out the windows ok, enough to see towards Liberty Square. Not sure about the windows to the north since I don't recall looking out those windows.

There are a couple ladies on this thread who have actually had the privilege of staying in the DS. They are so sweet so I was glad that they shared their experience because it's one thing to tour the DS but it is altogether different to stay there. :faint:

Oh, I loved the pics of little Em at DLR. So sweet! I did kind of keep my eye out for y’all every time we cut through the GC.

Ha ha! We were on the look out as well. I regret that I didn't try to connect with you before you left but it was a crazy week and I know you had a lot going on as well. If you are back in the summer we'll definitely need to meet up.

ACK! Seriously??? That’s your view from your GCH room - you could even watch WOC from there? I love it!!! And want to scream at the same time! Looks like both Em and Willow had wonderful DLR birthdays. :lovestruc But we are still waiting for Willow to be tall enough for Indiana Jones……. (believe me, she made them measure her.) I am SO glad you posted about your DLR weekend - I love it there so much, can’t wait to be back in a few months. RSR is Willow’s new obsessions - big time! Can’t wait to write up our trip!!!

I did it!!!! I actually did it! I caught up!!! This is my proudest DIS moment ever! :cheer2: :rotfl2:

WOW!! AMAZNG job getting caught up AND commenting Roni!! :yay:

I am among the many who haven't tried the cake pops. If I get anything other the my coffee it's a slice of the lemon cake. Shula's looks like a nice place. As always you can Em look very nice in your dresses. Picturing you walking across in the heels sounds like something I would do. I LOVE the lemon cake. I actually had a slice this trip as well. It is excellent!!

Thank you Sandy! Definitely take it easy until you are well healed! I just dropped in to your PTR and saw your precious addition to your family. Congratulations on your new grandbaby.

I am :rotfl2: about the heels in the Boardwalk, I have had that happen there, no fun! but it is funny. Until you twist an ankle. I have heard nothing but good things about Shula's. It's never on my list, I guess because I've been to one of them elsewhere before and in general am not a steakhouse gal but one of these days I do need to try it.

Love the birthday weekend (yes, I was that behind) what a perfect place to celebrate a milestone!

I like the action shot, as much for the jump itself as the fact that the action was caught! I never seem to manage either working out.

Saturday August 24, 2013: Day 9, Part 1

Ok folks, we're over half way through this thing! Seriously, thank you to those that are hanging in there post DS reveal. The rest may not be as exciting but it's all I've got!

I'm wrapping up my August DR hopefully by tomorrow and then I'm contemplating juggling another TR from our December trip. If DisneyKid4Life, Katt789 and IheartDDuck can do it, so can I! Speaking of Rob and Katt, they are two of the dozen or so DISers making appearances from our December trip.

Today was a resort transfer day since we would be moving to our 4th and final resort of the trip – Bay Lake Tower.

I was up and re-packing by 7am. I realize that for those of you who live out of a suitcase during your trips this is the easy part for you – no re-packing! I’m not there yet. Repacking doesn't take long since I keep things pretty organized in the room so I was done in about 10 minutes. Not a bad detour with the trade-off of transferring to one of our favorite resorts.

But first..... since I was up early, some photos before sunrise.

A peaceful spot in the room to relax in the early morning:

I decided to let Em sleep in while I attempted to make park open at DHS which had EMH; therefore, opened at 8am. I asked her to be packed and ready to check out when I returned by 11am.

After being at this resort for 4 nights I finally decided to be adventuresome and took the stairs from the 4th floor that were right by our room. Come to find out they exited right next to Crews Cup lounge by YSH – a huge shortcut. I should have been curious about those stair sooner.

I walked to DHS trying to hustle to get there for park open. However, I stopped often to take photos and to address the blister that was forming on my foot. My band-aid kept flopping over so I finally had to rip it off and just deal with the annoyance of every step going ouch! It was also super HOT and super HUMID this morning. The worst yet of our trip. You probably don’t want to know that I was drenched by the time I reached the gates of the park. Lovely I tell you!

Bo did get my attention – from afar. Technically I'm in the photo since that is my shadow!

I went straight for my favorite ride – ToT which was a 30 minute wait but it was worth it.

Interesting that there is a Carthay Circle at both DHS and DCA.

Ok folks it’s here that I admit that despite my best efforts to try to maintain some control over what I eat while on vacation I was overpowered by an urge to have a carrot cake cookie from Sweet Spells. For those keeping track, I had already had one a few days prior so that should have satisfied any cravings. These little babies are not low calorie so any guilt it induced was well deserved! Another example of why I run folks, penance for these tempting treats.

I parked myself on a bench and nibbled on the cookie. Ahhh such a delicious breakfast.

Since I was so hot and miserable I decided to go back to YC and make sure we were ready to have bell service transfer our luggage. I took the first boat back since there was no way that I was walking back between my blister and the heat. So much for a few hours of solo park time. I had ridden 1 ride, eaten 1 cookie and taken 8 photopass photos. Not exactly a stellar morning but it will do. We had a later lunch reservation at Sci-Fi so we’d be back a little later.

I like the action shot, as much for the jump itself as the fact that the action was caught! I never seem to manage either working out.

Ha ha! Yes, we were looking like we'd had a few drinks at the bar before setting out for dinner.

If there was a Shula's anywhere where I live or travel I'd leave it off my list since I don't want to bother with places I can eat while not on vacation. Thus the reason why I'll likely never eat at RFC. I will make an exception for EoS and WPE since I reserve the right to fill those in on occasion!

Thanks Cynthia, it was a nice weekend at the DLR for Em's 18th.

I was in a silly mood with that jumping shot and good for me I didn't need to make a fool of myself more than once since that was the only action shot we took. ;)

My dear friend, I only wish I looked half as good as you when I was all hot and sweaty from a humid day at Disney. You look terrific in the photopass pictures.

Well, if you are only going to do one ride, you picked the best one in my opinion. :thumbsup2

And you are at Disney...you are supposed to "cheat" a little. I think you are entitled.

So let's do some Disney Maths
Walking from the boardwalk area to DHS on a hot day = 2 x carrot cake cookies
Therefore my friend you are 100% in the negative on your daily calorie calorie count - you could have had two !!

That was nice that you let Em sleep in and you enjoyed some solo time at Hollywood Studios. Bummer about the blister! I hope it didn't keep you from enjoying the rest of your day. I had this huge blister form on one of our trips and it was miserable until it finally busted open (sorry if that is gross, I'm a nurse so nothing bothers me) and then it was instant relief! Those carrot cake cookies are really good, but I think a cupcake from starring rolls would've been calling my name louder!

Looks like a pretty decent morning even with not a lot getting done! Lol. Love all the pp's pictures!

And I say do a Dec trip report!! Always a fun way to relive the magic! Lol. Mine would be started but it has continuing character interactions and stories from the tail end of Sept's tr so I've got to wrap that up first!!

It's the packing, unpacking, and re-packing that keeps me from doing a split stay. We are definitely not organized in the room though-tiaras and princess wands everywhere!

Sounds like a nice morning!

If you can't have a cookie for breakfast on vacation, when can you? Great idea!

Beautiful pre-sunrise photos! Wow, what a gorgeous view!
Very nice of you to let Em sleep, but I am more like you in Disney, up early and ready to go!
Walking to DHS, I am still so in awe of this phenomenon, I really need to stay at the Boardwalk or something in that area. So, so cool.
Super hot, humid and a blister? I think you did pretty well considering the conditions!
Love the PP pics, especially with Mike Wazowski! I haven't seen that one before!
I think that anything you eat in Disney is low cal, even the carrot cake cookies. ::yes:: That's what I tell myself. That plus all that walking should un-do any ill effects of sugar!

Blisters on vacation are the worst! During our trip I wore shoes I had been wearing every day for months to try to avoid a blister, but it was so bad that I walked barefoot from Test Track to the bus stop after evening EMH on our Epcot day and I nearly stayed in the hotel for our entire DHS day until my husband walked to the gift shop and bought me flip flops to wear the rest of the trip.

Well, one ride and one snack is better than no park time at all! Your pictures from that morning are gorgeous!

Sorry about your blister though! Those are the worst.

YES YES YES!!!! December TR!!! Not gonna lie. There are times when you post an update here and I keep thinking... OOH what December day is this? I wonder where I was. Oy, yeah I'm a little slow.

I actually now am a big fan of the walk over to DHS. Maybe I would be a little less so in that heat, but still, such a lovely walk. Plus the added convenience of letting Em sleep while you explore.

Wow, ToT at 30 minutes already??? Oh and thank you for pointing out the photo was from the CD. I could not figure out for the life off me why it was so dark all of a sudden.

Blisters are not your friend, especially not in WDW. Ouch Brenda. :sad2:

But how fun to get into HS by yourself, even for just one ride and a cookie and some photos. ;)

Eeeep, I got so far behind again. I HATE when that happens! But I am so glad I'm catching up again because wow... the tour. It's just amazing.

That's SO AWESOME that you guys got KEYS TO THE CASTLE! I would find a way to go and get someone to print my name on it, hahaha. Seriously thought, how cool... 7000 people, that's amazing.

Okay, moving to the intermission... SO AWESOME that you guys stayed at the GC! After getting us a room there last November at the Villas, I have been SPOILED when it comes to going to Disneyland. Ugh, it's just such a wonderful resort to stay at. We'll be in Disneyland again in May, and we're staying not on property, but close by. It's kind of bumming me out a bit, though we are planning (fingers crossed it works out again) to stay at the VGC in November again, as Matt's parents' want to go to Disneyland with us and stay there. I just hope I can get us either a one-bedroom or two studios at the seven-month mark! It's normally rare to be able to get a studio at VGC because there are so little DVC rooms there.

I love your on-ride photo of Indiana Jones, hahaha. That's about accurate because it's IMPOSSIBLE to get a photo while on that ride! But that being said, I LOVE it. It's truly up there for being one of my absolute favorite Disney attractions between both DLR and WDW. And the theming is just amazing, too.

Okay, La Brea Bakery looks SO good! Matt and I thought about going there once during our November trip but then didn't. Now I kind of want to because it looks fabulous!

Oh the Cove Bar! That's another place we have yet to go but want to. I'm making notes over here since your updates are totally reminding me, haha.

Any time you feel like going off track, DO IT! I love reading about your time at DLR! I'm planning on writing a TR for our November trip there once I can actually get my WDW one done. But I love seeing WDW friends go to DLR, it's so much fun to read about!

I'm amazed at the people who job around the BoardWalk when it's like already 90 and humid out. UGH. I seriously was shocked when we'd come out of Beach Club Villas and just see people running around with no sweat. THAT IS NOT NORMAL, hahaha.

I think your morning at HS was successful when it involves a ride on ToT AND that amazing Carrot Cake Cookie! Oh my goodness, I'm a fan of those. We skipped them last trip, but I am making sure we get them again next trip. Or at least I am!

YAY! I'm all caught up, and I'm happy about it. Sorry for the long comment, hahaha.

Cake pops!! They're so cute & yummy!

That balloon vendor seems pretty shy. I'd be right there with ya, cast member. They were just offering you a unique shot with balloons. :)

Oh yacht club, you are completely gorgeous. Great sunrise shots! When I see these I think wow, she gets up early for being used to pacific standard time! Way to make the most of your disney time, Brenda!

I love all your cute solo shots in MGM. ;) I feel your blister pain. It's no fun, that's for sure! You certainly earned that cookie, especially when you pair it with a hot & humid Florida day. 2 cookies next time!
