Great update! Dinner at Shula's looked wonderful!! You guys looked so pretty all dressed up. Girl I don't know how you walk in those heels! If I could get away with wearing TOMS and dress up clothes I would in a heartbeat lol.
Thanks Jenn, it was a great dinner.
You would look adorable in anything, you are so cute! I noticed your TOMS in your TR!
You wear them well.
Glad you had such a wonderful meal at Shulas! You both look beautiful!
Yikes, I can't walk in heels at the best of times, let alone on a boardwalk!
I'm impressed that you made it without breaking an ankle like I would have!
What a wonderful day, wow. A big day too, can't say I blame you for skipping MK that evening!
Thank you Wendy! And might I add the newest DISer to meet DisneyKid4Life!! That was awesome to see that on FB.
I do pretty good in heels but not when you throw in an obstacle of boards with gaps between them. Speaking of broken ankles.... When I broke my ankle last summer right after our August trip, that was the first thing Em said, "how are you going to wear heels?" I used to wear heels everyday to work.
I'm more ambitious in planning than in reality during the trip. Once post dinner lethargy sets in we had no chance of making it to MK!
would love to see the suite in person. One day
Keep dreaming and wishing, it can come true when you least expect it! It did for us.
Great update!! I also followed the link over to check out the dining review!! Looks so good. My favorite steak so far has to be the one I had at California Grill.
But I've never tried YSH or Shula's.
The cake pops looked very good from Starbucks! May have to try one of those just from around here somewhere.
Balloon vendor must have been a little warm. Maybe she was seeking out a little shade.
I've never ordered the filet at Cali Grill but I hear that it is very good. I've had filet at most every other Signature and they vary in how good I think they are (Monsieur Paul was excellent, YSH was good) but none stand out like Shula's.
I don't go to Starbucks often other than at the airport for breakfast so it would be interesting to see if they sell them everywhere or if they are a special treat at WDW.
A little shade to cool off isn't a bad idea! Perhaps it won't sell too many balloons but what the heck!
You both look very nice for your dinner.
Mmm, heels on a boardwalk, I can see how that would be difficult.
Cake pops do seem really small. I know when my husband got one, he felt there were other snacks he could've bought for the same price and gotten way more out of them. But, hey, at least you can say you tried one now.
Thank you Alicia. Yeah.... looking like a drunken sailor on land wasn't my idea of class and style!
At least I didn't fall down.
I'm glad I tried the cake pop since it certainly met my expectations but I know there are other treats that I love (lemon loaf to name one
) that have a better 'bites to dollar' ratio.
I grew up in Miami, and the Dolphins and Don Shula are etched in my memory, and especially since my father resembled Don Shula so much. I remember their perfect season very well!
On this upcoming trip, my sister and I will absolutely have to go to this steakhouse. I make no apologies for lovin' a good steak!!
Oh wow!! That's cool that you remember that season. I don't recall that season specifically but I have early memories of my dad and brothers watching the Dolphins games when Shula was the coach.
GO!!! You will love this place! I'm looking forward to returning in May. It looks like from your ticker that you'll be there a little after us. Enjoy!
Ms. Kat, look up the Candy Cane Inn. I know the name sounds awful, but this place has been recently remodeled and it's still family owned after all these years. It's a beautiful little hotel, serves a continental breakfast every morning (which actually is way more than just that) and it's clean, reasonably priced and the best part, it's not far from the park and on the same side, no crossing streets to get there! (once you are there you'll understand why that's important)
Hope this helps.
I've only stayed at one hotel across the street, Park Vue Inn (just ok) but here's a
link to all the "Good Neighbor" hotels by
Disneyland.
Dinner looks and sounds like it was amazing! I've never even really thought to think about resturants in the swalphin for eating at lol. Then again, the boardwalk usually escapes my plans while at Disney lol, but now, I think I'll have to look into it!!
Also walking on the boardwalk in heels
hilarious
I wish i was there to see it lol!! I usually opt for the flats or sandals
the heels usually don't even make it into the suitcase lol!
Hi Katt! There's a few great options for dining at the Swalphin - Bluezoo and Il Mulino in addition to Shula's. I'm a fan of many of the Boardwalk restaurants as well. Pretty much if it is food in Disney I'm in love.
After breaking my ankle I don't wear heels too much anymore. Although unlike you, I'm height challenged so heels give me a few inches that I appreciate.
Reading your dining review of Shulas was definitely a mistake. I am now at work droooooling. It does strike me as a little strange to have a dirty football on a table at such a nice place though. I'm assuming they clean it, but
Pete's main request for our upcoming trip was STEAK. We are gunna try out the Yachtsman this time and save Shula's for a special occasion! I didn't know that it was all football themed. He will definitely love that!
Ha ha! I should have posted a warning not to read while in a no drool zone. I hope they clean those footballs!
YSH has been a favorite for the last few trips and it's good, not Shula's good, but it should be a great steak option. You'll have to tell me how you love the onion rolls at YSH!
