Construction work on the MK Castle...

If they drained the moat I'm assuming they'd probably block it off from the other waterways. That way it wouldn't look like MK is in perpetual drought

So I guess I was hallucinating when I saw water in the moat last Friday?

I think you mis-understood my post. I wasn't saying that the moat is currently drained, just that they have drained the moat in the past to do maintenance work on the castle.

Can I ask who your photographer was? Did you ask for that shot or was it the photographers idea? I haven't seen any photos there before, it came out great!

This info did not come from me... My photo shoot was in Feb 2013... But I guess it's the talk now.

There should be a save the moat movement. A quick google search and I saw these horrible photos: http://www.wdwmagic.com/attractions/cinderella-castle/news/15jan2010-cinderella-castle-moat-(and-beyond)-draining-photo-update.htm I really hope they don't drain all this water...it will take a way from the beauty of the park , especially since according to this post all of those waterways are linked. Build on top of a building on main street and add a dang viewing area. Don't take away from the castle.

This link has a date of January 15, 2010.

There is rumor that the moat will be drained permanently on the 23rd to "make room for more guests".

I don't know what this may entail.

Despite the brial portraits, I think the moat is very pretty to look at and makes the castle more magical when you are in the park.

I'm willing to put up a stupid amount of money on the other side of this bet if anybody's interested.

This is standard "paint the moat and fix the cracks" refurbishment, folks. Don't get your panties in a wad. Happens about every 4-5 years.

You are correct according to wdwmagic.com it is a standard moat refurbishment staring this week. There is no timetable for how long it is.

In this discussion of this on the WDW Magic boards some reliable sources have indicated that there will be modifications to the moat but they won't be eliminated completely. Sounds like this might be part of the large hub refresh project and not just regular maintenance.

I could NOT ever see that moat being drained permanently. Standard refurbishing, with maybe some slight modifications at most to the general layout.

Wilson Flyer - you dont have to be such a jerk about it and a sexist pig.

The reason I posted this was because an employee of Disney who works for Disney Photography said the moat was to be drained PERMANENTLY TO MAKE ROOM FOR MORE GUESTS. I would not have posted anything if they said it was a standard refurb project.

seems to be part of the reconstruction hub project.

This was posted over at WDWMagic this morning...

Where can I read more about this project?
I'm not exactly sure WDWmagic.com may have some stuff on it but not positive. There has been a lot of concrete work on main street especially. They are eliminating a lot of planters and pouring a lot of new concrete making areas wider to hold more people. Several areas throughout main street have already been completed and some are going on as we speak. It's main purpose to eliminate bottlenecks and create more room for fireworks, and peak crowds.
